Daytime Emmy Winners: Complete List

Daytime Emmy Winners: Complete List
Just as they are preparing to split up, Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan on Sunday won their second consecutive Daytime Emmy Award for entertainment talk show hosts for their syndicated chat show “Live with Kelly and Michael.”

Meanwhile, CBS’ “The Talk” won its first Daytime Emmy for entertainment talk show.

The Daytime Emmy win capped a roller coaster two weeks for Ripa and Strahan after the news broke that Strahan would be moving on to “Good Morning America” full-time in the fall. Ripa protested the decision to keep her in the dark until the last minute by sitting out three episodes of “Live” during the week of April 18.

Ripa previously won Daytime Emmys for entertainment talk show host in 2011 and 2012 during her run on “Live” with previous co-host Regis Philbin. The Daytime Emmy Awards were held Sunday night in Los Angeles but the ceremony was not carried on TV. For

Daytime Emmys Preview: Soaps Keep Audiences With Long-Term Characters

Daytime Emmys Preview: Soaps Keep Audiences With Long-Term Characters
It’s debatable that there are any “new viewers” out there willing to commit to watching a network soap five days a week. However, the remaining four broadcast soaps have a strategy to maintain their existing audiences, and ward off the threat of cancellation, which has claimed their rivals in recent years: Shine a spotlight on beloved, long-term characters.

That strategy is evident in the episodes each of the four surviving soaps (“The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Days of Our Lives,” “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless”) selected as submissions for the Daytime Emmys drama series prize.

Both “General Hospital” submissions are loaded with veteran players, but couldn’t be more different in terms of content. An anniversary episode, featuring black and white segments, harkens back to the show’s early days. The episode resolves the “Fluke” storyline, explaining Luke Spencer’s bizarre behavior and how his parents died.

Our 2016 Guide to Daytime Emmy–Nominated Web Exclusives

The Daytime Emmys have undergone a considerable facelift in recent years with the explosion of original web-based content and various subscription streaming services. This is the first year the Daytime Emmys have introduced three categories devoted entirely to digital daytime dramas. The awards previously included one category recognizing shows, and another for both male and female performers. Each gender now competes separately, while a category honoring digital daytime programs remains intact. The following is a list of the web-exclusive series that have been nominated, as well as where you can watch them! “The Bay: The Series”“The Bay” first attracted Emmy’s attention when the series earned a nomination in the special class short format category back in 2012. The Daytime Emmys have since adapted their rules as the digital landscape evolved. Furthermore, “The Bay” won last year’s Daytime Emmy for outstanding digital drama series (new approaches). ‘Young & Restless’ Leads Daytime Emmy Noms But Ceremony Won’t Be on TV

‘Young & Restless’ Leads Daytime Emmy Noms But Ceremony Won’t Be on TV
CBS’ “Young and the Restless” and ABC’s “General Hospital” lead the list of nominees for this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards, which will not be airing on TV for the second time in the past three years.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has nixed plans for a telecast of the ceremony because of the cost. Last year NATAS set a two-year deal with Pop, the CBS and Lionsgate-owned cabler, for telecast of the show after a debacle in 2014 when the ceremony aired as a live webcast.

But NATAS decided that the six-figure cost of producing the ceremony for TV was too high even with the license fee offered by Pop. The New York-based academy is believed to be in discussions for another webcast partner.

Low ratings have taken a toll on the Daytime Emmy Awards’ fortunes. The ceremony bounced around from CBS to ABC to CW to

Action-Packed Trailer for Scott Donovan and Lilly Melgar’s Black Cobra

No, this isn’t a remake of the Fred Williamson B-movie masterpiece “Black Cobra”, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. After all, directors Scott Donovan and Lilly Melgar’s upcoming martial arts flick has an action-packed vibe of its own, and it certainly doesn’t skimp on the ass-kicking. Watching the film’s talented cast of stuntmen and martial artists beat the crap out of people for 90 minutes sounds like a fantastic way to spend an evening to me. I foresee a synopsis in your near future: One man travels across country, smuggling illegal black diamonds to sell in order to pay for his father’s pardon in South Africa. When he arrives to the United States to finalize what appeared to be a simple transaction he is soon double-crossed and becomes caught up in a contraband forcing him to overcome an opponent far more lethal and deadlier than he has every met.

Ignacio Serricchio first appears on The Bay as Manny Ramos, the newest addition to the Ramos clan at the end of the third Chapter. Manny is Janice (Lilly Melgar) and Frankie's (Diego Serrano) kid brother, and Lianna's  (Jade Harlow) uncle.

Fans of General Hospital will recall Serricchio's appearance as Diego Alcazar (2004-06; 2008) aka, "The Text Message Killer" who murdered Georgie Jones, Emily Quartermaine, Coop Barrett, and (gasp) even Michael Corinthos's  beloved nanny Leticia! Let's hope Sara Garrett (Mary Beth Evans) isn't checking her text messages too soon!
