Amazon releases trailer for season 2 of Sneaky Pete

Amazon has released a trailer for the second season of its crime drama Sneaky Pete along with a premiere date reveal of March 9th. The Amazon Prime Original series sees Giovanni Ribisi, Marin Ireland, Margo Martindale, Shane McRae, Libe Barer, and Peter Gerety returning to their roles alongside new additions Justine Lupe, John Ales, Sara Tomko, and Chris Ashworth; watch the trailer here…

‘Sneaky Pete’ Season 2 Trailer: Crime Drama Continues Its Life on the Run — Watch
Early last year, Bryan Cranston and “Justified” showrunner Graham Yost teamed up with Amazon to bring us “Sneaky Pete,” a crime drama about a con man who assumes his cell mate’s identity in order to run from his past. The second season, premiering in March, promises to continue following the journey of Marius Josipovic (Giovanni Ribisi) as he faces the fallout of his new identity.

According to the official synopsis for the second season, “Marius is on the verge of starting fresh, when two thugs, believing he is Pete, threaten to kill the family unless he takes them to Pete’s estranged mother Maggie (Jane Adams) and the millions she stole from their mysterious employer. Now Marius must tread a dangerous line to find the elusive Maggie, protect the family, and keep up the Pete con, all while finagling a way to ditch the thugs and keep the money for himself.

Giovanni Ribisi’s “Pete” will sneak on for at least another season: Amazon has renewed “Sneaky Pete.”

The renewal comes less than a week after the full first season debuted on Amazon’s Prime streaming service. Amazon claims “Sneaky Pete” had the second-biggest premiere day streaming audience of its originals thus far. (“The Man in the High Castle” holds the record.)

Bryan Cranston and Graham Yost have done a masterful job of steering the cast to fantastic performances,” said Joe Lewis, Amazon Studios’ head of comedy and drama. “Both the critical response and our customers’ engagement with the series are key factors in our enthusiasm to bring our audience a second season of ‘Sneaky Pete.’”

“The devil’s in the details” is a phrase one would expect to to hear in a con story. Twisty, fun thrillers like these thrive on little moments that may have been overlooked — swiping a wallet after an “accidental” collision, sliding an extra card into the deck to throw the count — but they typically do so by flashing back and highlighting an action that wasn’t seen at first glance. It makes the audience admire how clever and smooth the con artist is, with the surprise benefit of giving the viewers at home a wake-up call.

Such scenes populate “Sneaky Pete,” Amazon’s new original series starring Giovanni Ribisi as the titular con artist, but they aren’t the details that elevate the charming drama above similar fodder. Amazon Reveals Trailer and Premiere Date for Bryan Cranston and Giovanni Ribisi's Sneaky Pete

Amazon Studios has a new series coming out that's being executive produced by Bryan Cranston called Sneaky Pete. The series stars Giovanni Ribisi, and the pilot episode premiered last year. It was so well received by audiences that Amazon decided to pick it up for a full season order. I really enjoyed the pilot, and I'm looking forward to seeing the story play out through the next nine episodes.

Per Amazon, Ribisi (Dads) stars as a conman who hides from his debtors once he leaves prison — by assuming the identity of a cellmate. Gravitas Ventures has secured all worldwide rights to Aaron Tveit’s dating comedy “Better Off Single,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Gravitas has set an Oct. 7 date for release in theaters and on demand. Benjamin Cox is directing from his own script.

Amazon has announced that it has given the green light to a new original dramatic series, Sneaky Pete, which comes from the creative team of David Shore (House), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Erin Gunn (Battle Creek) and James Degus (All the Way).
