McLaren is mentioned in the novel "Disgrace" by Nobel Laureate J.M. Coetzee. On pages 14 and 15, the character of 50ish Professor David Lurie plays a videotape of McLaren's "Ballet Adagio" to a young student he is seducing, apparently thinking the movement of the dancers will stir the girl's physical desires.
