Toy Story That Time Forgot Review

9 December 2014 12:47 PM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Director/Writer: Steve Purcell

Starring: Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Kristen Schaal, Wallace Shawn, Kevin McKidd, Emily Hahn, Emma Hudak, Timothy Dalton, Jonathan Kydd, R.C. Cope

Running Time: 22 Minutes

When Toy Story 3 concluded the trilogy, and let’s not even mention the emotional impact, I don’t think any of us anticipated the return of those hugely loved characters but they turned up Toy Story Of Terror during Halloween of last year. Sure, there’s also been some Toy Story Toons but until Toy Story 4 was officially announced, these short animations never logically held any precursor to other feature-length possibilities.

Written and directed by Brave’s scribe Steve Purcell, it’s easy for me to say that Toy Story That Time Forgot is easily one of my favourites of the Toy Story short folk tales, as it’s got everything that makes the first three unique and inventive. Maybe it’s just me, »

Review: ABC's 'Toy Story That Time Forgot' a lesser TV sequel

2 December 2014 6:00 AM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

When Disney announced last month that John Lasseter would direct a fourth "Toy Story" film, there was inevitable fan concern: But "Toy Story 3" ended so perfectly! Why do we need any more? But Pixar has always done right by its signature franchise, never pushing Woody, Buzz and the gang past a point of diminishing returns. There was plenty of trepidation about "Toy Story 2" and "Toy Story 3," and both times the consensus was that the new film was better than the last. And though the toys' tale could have easily ended with Andy saying goodbye to Woody (while the adults in the audience turned into weeping wrecks), the saga has continued with a handful of "Toy Story Toons" shorts, plus last year's "Toy Story of Terror!" Halloween special, all of them depicting the toys' lives with Bonnie, and they've all been charming, funny and very much worthy, if brief, »

TV Review: ‘Toy Story That Time Forgot’

1 December 2014 9:00 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Effortlessly picking up where “Toy Story of Terror” left off, Pixar has delivered a second splendid ABC holiday special plucked from one of its signature franchises, “Toy Story That Time Forgot,” again moving a peripheral character into the equivalent of a starring role. Funny, warm and not afraid to include gags clearly intended more for parents than their kids, it’s the kind of production that keeps the franchise fresh (and crassly, merchandise flying off shelves) while waiting for yet another sequel.

The conceit could hardly be simpler: Little Bonnie has a play date with a friend, and takes a bag of her toys along. But once she gets there, the boy has a topnotch game console, and the more tangible diversions are quickly abandoned.

Left alone, the toys encounter a group of dinosaur-like playthings (a cross-pollination, essentially, of the “Transformers” and “He-Man” strains) that appear to be somewhat unclear on the whole “toy” concept. »

10 Reasons Why 'Toy Story That Time Forgot' Is the Must-Watch Christmas Special of the Season

1 December 2014 5:00 AM, PST | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

Just because "Toy Story 4" isn't coming out until the summer of 2017, that doesn't mean that your favorite childhood playthings are going to be absent until then. Just this week ABC will premiere "Toy Story That Time Forgot," a new half-hour Christmas special that features the toys in a brand new adventure. When you think of a Christmas special built around the "Toy Story" characters, you probably think that it's going to be something centered around the holiday and the introduction of new toys that come along with it...

But you'd be wrong.

"Toy Story That Time Forgot" is a distinct, wholly original half-hour film, written and directed by animation and comic book vet Steve Purcell that contributes wonderfully to the mythology while taking it in a wholly new direction. It throws preexisting "Toy Story" characters up against a bunch of new toys called the Battlesaurs, an eighties-style brand of gladiatorial combatants. »

Toy Story That Time Forgot Teasers Online

With the recent announcement that John Lasseter and his Pixar team are officially working on Toy Story 4, we don’t have quite as much of a pressing need for stop-gap visits with Woody, Buzz and the rest. But the shorts and last year’s spooky TV special have been so much fun that we’re happy to have all we can get with the gang. This year’s special is dino-themed and has two new teasers online. The new 30-minute short finds Tom Hanks' Woody and Tim Allen's Buzz facing a new problem thanks to Reptillus Maximus (Kevin McKidd). He's the leader of a group of dino-toys our heroes meet and who turn out to be suffering a similar delusion that once afflicted Buzz: they think they’re real. And when you have dinosaurs believing they exist, you know there will be trouble, especially for poor triceratops »

There’s quite a commotion at Grey Sloan Memorial. A woman is getting increasingly angry, making a scene in front of half the hospital. She has good reason to be demanding a new doctor: She's just realized that the surgeon working with her mother also happens to be an addict she knows from Narcotics Anonymous meetings. It’s the sweeping epic that eventually spanned three films. But, without the sequels, the first still stands as one of the greatest cinematic achievements of all time. The Godfather is a crime drama, a family drama, and a warped version of the American dream. The story focuses on the Corleone family, beginning at the marriage of his daughter, an expansive reception that serves as a wonderful introduction to the characters we would grow to love. Part of this intro is to demonstrate how ruthless the family could be if called to. Vito (Marlon Brando) will grant requests on this day, as it is his daughter’s wedding day. One of those requests comes from Johnny Fontane (Al Martino), Vito’s godson and a professional singer. He wants to land a contested part in a film, so »

Ewan McGregor: 'Trainspotting sequel might happen'

Ewan McGregor has said a Trainspotting sequel is likely to happen.

Based on Irvine Welsh's novel with the same name, McGregor starred in the 1996 Danny Boyle adaptation alongside Jonny Lee Miller, Kevin McKidd, Kelly Macdonald, Robert Carlyle and Ewen Bremner.

McGregor told Details: "It looks like it might happen. The idea is that we shoot it in 2016, which would be 20 years after the original came out. And I'd be up for it. I wouldn't have been 10 years ago, but I am now."

Last year, the Scottish actor expressed his interest in reprising his Trainspotting role as heroin addict Mark Renton and said it would be an "extraordinary experience" to reunite with his former co-stars.

Boyle already confirmed his plans for a Trainspotting sequel, which would be based on Welsh's 2002 follow-up Porno.

The duo worked together for three films but their friendship was severed after the actor was replaced by »

Grey's Anatomy: Season 11 Ratings

17 October 2014 1:30 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

The ratings for Grey's Anatomy have been dropping and the show is expensive to make but it remains one of ABC's top-rated shows. How long will it make sense for the network to keep it going? How long will viewers tune in? We'll have to wait and see.

Grey's Anatomy continues to follow the lives of the medical staff at the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital. This season, the large cast includes Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr., Sara Ramirez, Kevin McKidd, Jessica Capshaw, Sarah Drew, Jesse Williams, Camilla Luddington, Caterina Scorsone, and Jerrika Hinton.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- usually the next day, »
