Taking manhood as their theme and rather flirting with sexism, Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo conclude their culinary journey through Italy by heading for Rome via Lazio's mountain villages. In the latter, men are still men, as an eating competition apparently proves. However, in the Eternal City it seems women are increasingly in control. So is there still room for (wannabe) macho men like Gennaro? Possibly not, but maybe that's not such a bad thing if it means chaps have to learn to cook. Jonathan Wright

Fans of Scandinavian crime drama are in for treat – even if the premise of this Swedish/Danish co-production is almost enough to make your head explode. A body is found exactly halfway across the Oresund bridge that connects Copenhagen with Malmo, meaning the investigation has to involve both Danish and Swedish maverick detectives. Sadly, Wallander and Lund were not on duty that night. BBC4, April.

On 12 November last year, BBC2 asked Britons to film something that captured "the intimacy and singularity of their lives" for a documentary project. The result is a feature-length work, directed by Morgan Matthews, that paints a British self-portrait. BBC2, May.

Sky Arts has unveiled its upcoming lineup of new comedy and drama series. David Tennant, Emma Thompson and Martin Shaw will star in a new collection of drama productions titled Playhouse Presents for the channel. Thompson will appear in a comedy drama about the 1982 event in which Michael Fagan broke into The Queen's bedchambers at Buckingham Palace. Tennant will star as an artist called Will in The Minor Character from Will Self, while Martin Shaw appears in City Hall, which focuses on a woman who becomes a viral hit after standing up to rioters and later becomes the mayor of London.
