Freezing conditions. Dangerous stunts. Here are a few examples of actors who've suffered through some high-profile film roles...

When DiCaprio lifted his Best Actor trophy at this year's Oscars, we're surprised he didn't scream, "It's about damn time I won one of these. I slept in a goddamn hollowed-out horse for you people!"

Ah yes, the hollowed-out horse. But there was also the scene where DiCaprio had to eat a raw bison liver, or the sundry moments where the actor had to crawl in and out of freezing cold lakes and rivers. At a time when whizzy computer effects can make the impossible look possible, the cast and crew of The Revenant decided to take a decidedly analogue approach to making their period survival drama, with the long, arduous shoot taking place in ice-cold parts of Canada, the Us and Argentina.

Grim though the experience of making The Revenant was,

Film producers team up to adapt Narnia writer's The Great Divorce

Fantasy novel The Great Divorce, by Chronicles of Narnia writer C.S. Lewis, is to be turned into a film.

Children's author N.D. Wilson has been hired to write the screenplay for Mpower Pictures and Beloved Pictures, reports Variety.

The 1945 novel centres on a man's journey from hell to heaven. He learns that the sprawling, dim metropolis called "the grey town" where he's been living is really hell.

He boards a bus whose destination is a beautiful landscape that turns out to be the foothills of heaven; it causes the man and all the other passengers immense pain, leading them to realise they are intangible ghosts.

They then face a decision whether to travel on into heaven, where it's promised they will become acclimatised to the pain and, ultimately, feel endless joy, or take the easy option and return to the grey town.

Mpower is headed by Steve McEveety who

DVD Review: ‘The Stoning of Soraya M.’ Has Undeniable Power, Zero Subtlety

Chicago – Who in the world would want to see this film? It’s as excruciating and appalling as the title promises, complete with simplistic depictions of good and evil. Like the bestselling novel from which it’s based, the film aims to raise global awareness about the Islamic practice of stoning women to death, a fundamentalist tradition that still occurs today. Yet are the filmmakers harboring deeper intentions?

It’s impossible to see “The Stoning of Soraya M.” without thinking of the film that it resembles down to its very title: “The Passion of the Christ.” Both films were produced by Steve McEveety, whose company Mpower Pictures markets films to a decidedly right-wing Christian audience. His rollicking patriotic comedy “An American Carol” reduced suicide bombers to sight gags, while “Stoning” reduces the vast majority of its Islamic characters to a bloodthirsty mob indiscernible from the Jews in “Passion.” Does McEveety

'North' Meets 'Groundhog Day' in New Comedy 'Hello, I Love You'

And that's what you get when you combine a producer from The Passion of the Christ (Stephen McEveety) with a writer (David McFadzean) from Tim Allen's TV series "Home Improvement": complete and utter chaos. But when you combine a box office and critical disaster like North with the modern comedy classic Groundhog Day, there has to be some semblance of a decent comedy hidden in there right? That's the hope as THR reports that development on Hello, I Love You, a comedy about a teenager who wishes for a new family only to find herself waking up each successive day with a new and strange one, is progressing well. Sunu Gonera (Pride), seen in the photo above, will direct from a script by Kim Beyer-Johnson, and though there's probably some fun to be had with this concept, the same producing team also brought us the equally recycled and
