Macon McCalman was born on December 30, 1932 in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. He was an actor, known for Smokey and the Bandit (1977), Deliverance (1972) and Fried Green Tomatoes (1991). He died on November 29, 2005 in Memphis.

Helped form the Front Street Theatre in Memphis, Tennessee.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army.
McCalman had retired from acting and returned to Memphis in 1997 after suffering a heart attack.
