Sellebrity Trailer Offers Candid Peek Into Paparazzi Culture

20 June 2012 7:45 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Courtesy of Deadline, the latest trailer for Kevin Mazur’s Sellebrity is ready for doc junkies and celebrity addicts alike to view. An earlier, shorter trailer was hosted in March by Taranets, but did not include the multitude of A-lister interviews this one has.

The preview showcases director Kevin Mazur‘s attempts to dissect paparazzi and celebrity culture, and the overabundance of media consumption available for the masses. From the trailer, a bias supporting celebrities is evident, with the invasion and curiosity society holds towards Hollywood seen as a trashy fascination.

Featuring interviews with Jennifer Aniston, Elton John, Salma Hayek, Kid Rock and many more, the film isn’t short on star power. However, this selling point does beg the question – how much of an informed opinion does Sellebrity hope to accomplish? The trailer’s depiction of paparazzi, consumers, and celebrities is clearly slanted towards a particular perspective. A review »

It's been almost 10 years since fans saw Eminem in his first big-time movie role, but they'll have to wait a little bit longer to catch him the second time around.

The rapper has long been signed on to star in "Southpaw," a gritty drama about a boxer who tries to mount a comeback in life and in the ring, but it is now being reported that Em will put the flick on the backburner.

"He's focusing on his music right now, so while he's doing that, while he's in that space, he wanted to put this on hold for the time being," Eminem's rep Dennis Dennehy told the Detroit Free Press this week.

In November Em's "8 Mile" will turn 10 years old. »

Jennifer Aniston Talks Media Obsession in First Clip from Documentary $ellebrity

14 March 2012 8:00 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Currently making its world premiere at the SXSW film festival, Kevin Mazur’s directorial debut sounds like an intriguing premise, interviewing a host of famous celebrities on the media’s obsession with fame, and our own by extension.

The first clip from the feature-length documentary has gone online over at Yahoo Movies, and we get to see a snippet of Jennifer Aniston being interviewed about what it’s like to be forever followed, surrounded, and affronted by paparazzi, in between footage of this exact thing happening to Jessica Simpson.

Courtesy of the festival’s website, the synopsis reads like this:

“Fame today is more than an obsession. Fame has become what millions of us follow, believe in and seemingly what we care about most – as well as a billion dollar-a-year industry. But what does our intense fascination with celebrity say about us? And how much is too high a price »

As Beyoncé settles into the role of motherhood, she's attached to another role — this one for the big screen. The pop singer is reportedly in talks to join Ryan Murphy's latest flick.

Billed as "One Hit Wonders," the film would be a musical comedy that could potentially star B's pal Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz and "Saturday Night Live" star Andy Samberg.

The film would follow Paltrow, Witherspoon and Diaz as pop stars who hit it big in the '90s as — you guessed it — one-hit wonders. In order to gain back some of the pop-star recognition they once had, the ladies join forces and form a supergroup. Samberg and his Lonely Island team would be involved in coming up with the movie's songs. »

For Angelina Jolie, Oscar night is a bittersweet occasion. She told MTV News that the first thing that comes to mind when she thinks Oscar is "how much it meant to my mom, when she was alive. My mom always loved the show." Marcheline Bertrand died in 2007 at age 56 from ovarian cancer.

But on the red carpet Sunday night (February 26), there was also much to celebrate for Jolie. The actress was supporting her partner, Brad Pitt, a best-actor nominee for his role as baseball manager Billy Beane in "Moneyball." And as a producer of the film, Pitt could also take home a statuette for Best Picture.

According to Jolie, Pitt is already a winner. "It's really about the film, »

It was no surprise that the Oscars wanted to go back to the past in 2012. After all, the show's producers brought Billy Crystal back to host for a ninth time. But it appears that those producers also wanted to travel back to the 1980s for a music flashback, hiring legendary drummer Sheila E. for the Oscars house band.

Yes, the same Sheila E. who rocked the charts in 1984 with her funky single "The Glamorous Life" and taught children of the '80s that the coolest way to play a drum kit was standing up.

Sheila E.'s hit came after years of performing with Prince. He had met E. (real name: Sheila Escovedo) in the late ' »

It seems that the combination of Rooney Mara and David Fincher guarantees Oscar gold. The duo worked together on 2010's Academy Award-winning film "The Social Network" and immediately followed it up with an adaptation of Stieg Larsson's "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." The movie ended up making $226 million worldwide and earned Mara her first Oscar nomination. So it makes sense that the duo would team up yet again to work on adapting the story's sequel, "The Girl Who Played With Fire."

Turns out that Mara hasn't learned too much about that plan, though. MTV News caught up with Mara on the Oscar red carpet and asked »

George Clooney's had another huge year, but the Oscar nominee is all about spreading the love, particularly when it comes to his best bro, fellow Best Actor nominee Brad Pitt.

Clooney hit the red carpet with girlfriend Stacy Keibler, rocking a fresh-from-the-runway Marchesa dress, and when he stopped to talk to MTV News, he admitted that as a past winner he's ready to pass the torch to his thrice-nominated but winless "Ocean's Eleven" co-star and longtime buddy.
