Aside from being known as a film director specializing in the horror genre, Mantovani is one of the most wanted music video directors in Indonesia. He has a degree in Architecture and have been working in the industry since 1991. His work has won him several awards both domestic and international. To date, he has around 400 music videos under his belt, nine feature films and numerous music video awards including a 'moon man'for the MTV ASIA award in 1995 for the video "Sambutlah" (featuring the artist Denada). Kuldesak (1999)_ was his first feature in which he co-directed with three other Indonesian directors, Mira Lesmana, Nan T. Achnas and Riri Riza. His second feature, a horror film which he directed with fellow music video director Jose Poernomo , became the biggest box office draw for 2002 in the country. His follow up, the 'Kuntilanak Trilogy' was also well received, in which "Kuntilanak" (the first installment) became the biggest box office draw for 2006 and 'Kuntilanak 3' (the third installment of the franchise) won him the 'best director' award at the Bali International Film Festival.
