Probably the most prolific conductor in British films, he conducted the
orchestra for practically every classic British film from 1934 until
the late 1950s.
Also conducted theatre scores, notably Tolstoy's War and Peace staged
at the London Phoenix from August 6 to 21, 1943. The music by Clifton Parker
was performed by the London Symphony Orchestra.
Also conducted radio scores, notably Alan Burgess' 'The Passing of Crab
Village' broadcast on the Home Service on 24 September 1950. The music
by Clifton Parker was performed by the BBC Orchestra.
He was the son of the artist, John George Mathieson.
