Series four of the Caribbean-set comedy drama bowed out with the usual bumbling Englishness, things being knocked over and comedy lizards

It’s rare there isn’t something new starting off, or something interesting and original happening, on television. But last night was one of those barren nights. So here’s something not very interesting or original coming to an end, the final episode of the current (fourth) series of Death in Paradise (BBC1).

It has been a while since I dropped into the Caribbean Island of Saint Marie, and I’m sad to see that DS Camille Bordey (Sara Martins) is no longer around. But a big bonjour to DS Florence Cassell (Josephine Jobert), whose role seems to be the same – to be beautiful and chic and neat and French in order to make Di Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) look even more shambolic and bumblingly British. Death In Paradise: BBC One, 9pm

Winter blues? Watch whodunit drama Death In Paradise, set against the beautiful backdrop of the Caribbean island Saint Marie.

In tonight's episode, all is not as it seems as a death rocks the island's seemingly cosy Heritage Society. Meanwhile, Di Goodman (Kris Marshall) tries not to let his feelings for Camille (Sara Martins) get in the way of his job.

Cucumber: Channel 4, 9pm

Queer As Folk writer Russell T Davies presents an original new comedy-drama series, exploring the passions and pitfalls of 21st century gay life in Britain.

Cleverly interlocking with two other series, Cucumber is followed by Banana at 10pm on E4, while the first episode of Tofu also debuts tonight on 4oD.
