Recorded with legendary Nashville guitarist Hank Garland.
Once dubbed "The Female Elvis", she was discovered by RCA Records at age 15 in 1955 and proceeded to place several records on the rockabilly charts, including "Drugstore Rock 'n' Roll" and "Will You Willyum" in the mid-'50s.
She formed her own band, the Marteens, and played clubs and fairs. She temporarily retired from performing in 1958. Her career underwent a revival in the late 1970s, when rockabilly became popular again, especially in Europe.
She toured with Johnny Cash, Porter Wagoner, Jim Reeves, Carl Perkins, Faron Young, and Hank Snow.
