Ricky Church reports from the Star Wars Rebels panel at Fan Expo 2017…

Today at the Fan Expo convention in Toronto, Star Wars Rebels creator and executive producer Dave Filoni and stars Vanessa Marshall (Hera) and Taylor Gray (Ezra) held a panel to discuss the upcoming fourth and final season of the series. They shared what’s in store for some of the characters, particularly how Ezra and Sabine will grow throughout the season, and addressed some of those teases in Rogue One about the fate of some characters.

One of the issues Filoni first addressed was the big role Sabine Wren will play in the season. As shown in the premiere two-parter ‘Heroes of Mandalore’ (which we reviewed here), Sabine’s journey in her own fight to unite her family and Mandalore against the Empire will play a pivotal role to her development.

“I think the biggest thing,” Filoni said, »

Ricky Church reviews the season four premiere of Star Wars Rebels

The fourth and final season of Star Wars Rebels will start airing next month, marking the beginning of the end for the Ghost crew. Here at Fan Expo in Toronto, we got to see the two-part premiere ‘Heroes of Mandalore’, a pretty entertaining and gripping episode that seemingly sets the tone for the Rebels’ final season. There was also a panel featuring series creator and producer Dave Filoni, Vanessa Marshall (Hera) and Taylor Gray (Ezra), which will be up later.

Just a quick note: since we’re still over a month away from the premiere, I’ll only be giving my general thoughts on the episode and won’t be going over anything specific so it remains spoiler free.

As the title suggests, the premiere deals with the continuing struggle for Sabine, her family and other Mandalorians to free »

One of the unexpected delights for fans in Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story were the easter eggs that tied into the Star Wars Rebels animated series. Not only did the Ghost, the ship featured in the show, turn up in the spinoff, but Chopper the droid briefly popped up at the Rebel base on Yavin IV and there was even a brief reference to a “General Syndulla” – a nod to the Ghost’s captain, Hera.

While chatting with Comic Book Movie in a recent interview, Hera’s voice actress, Vanessa Marshall, was asked what she felt when she discovered that her character was referenced in Rogue One. Naturally, she was overjoyed:

“Fantastic, I almost started crying. I had to remember I was in a public place and had to contain myself. I thought I was losing my mind and started asking, ‘Did that really just happen? »
