Stephen Markle was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is an actor, known for Invasion U.S.A. (1985), Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987) and JAG (1995). He has been married to Deborah Dietrich since October 4, 2003. He was previously married to Leslie Monthan.

When he was on The Edge of Night, Markle portrayed Ted Loomis, a corrupt cop who eventually became a serial murderer. Markle's character killed several other characters, and the fans loved him and wanted him to keep killing even more characters. The producers became alarmed that his evil, psychopathic character was becoming too popular. As a result, it was decided to kill off Markle's character!
He was nominated for a 1988 Joseph Jefferson Award for Actor in a Principal Role in a Play for "Passion Play" at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
