Alice In Wonderland/Peter Pan Prequel Movie To Be Directed By Brave’s Brenda Chapman

Animation veteran Brenda Chapman is poised to make the jump to live-action with Come Away, a high-profile fairytale that’s considered a prequel to both Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland.

Bringing the worlds of Wonderland and Neverland together, Marissa Kate Goodhill is the creative mind behind the screenplay, imagining a scenario in which Peter and Alice grow up as siblings, living under the shadow of an elder brother who, tragically, dies in a car accident and sends the pair on separate paths as they each deal with despair.

It’s an intriguing blend of two classic tales, and Deadline posted an official synopsis that gives us an inkling of the adventure that Goodhill is plotting.

“Before Alice went to Wonderland, and before Peter became Pan, they were brother and sister. When their eldest brother dies in a tragic accident, they each seek to save their parents from their downward

There is one redeeming quality of this ‘Peter Pan’-‘Alice in Wonderland’ mashup
If you were already exasperated by Disney’s long lineup of live action remakes and by the studio race to win the multiverse game, prepare to be all the more exasperated. If you’re excited by all the mashups and reimaginings and crossovers, then, well, you may be happy to hear this news. In the works in Tinseltown is a prequel to both Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan. Called Come Away (“Come away to Neverland…”), the film will be directed by Brenda Chapman, Deadline first reported today. It will be Chapman’s live-action debut — she directed Pixar’s Brave. Also among her story credits on animated films are Disney’s Hunchback of Notre Dame, The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast. That update about the film’s director is the brightest news about this project for those of us rooting for greater representation of women behind the camera.

"Brave" director Brenda Chapman will make her live-action directing debut on "Come Away" which will serve as both a prequel to "Alice in Wonderland" and "Peter Pan" which are both in the public domain.

Rap Battle Trailer For Disney's Adventures In Babysitting Will Make Your Eyes Roll

Disney has released a new trailer for their upcoming TV movie remake of the classic 1987 film Adventures in Babysitting. I loved that original movie mostly because, as I've previously stated, I had a crush on Elisabeth Shue.

Disney's upcoming remake looks horrendously awful. The story follows two babysitters, who are played by Sabrina Carpenter (Girl Meets World) and Sofia Carson (Disney’s Descendants). They go on an adventure through the city looking for one of the kids that they’re supposed to be taking care of.

The trailer features the two characters who find themselves on stage in a club in some kind of freestyle rap battle and it’s just one of the worst things ever. My kids are going to want to watch this, but I think I’ll just show them the original film instead.

Trailer for Disney’s Unnecessary Adventures In Babysitting Remake

Elisabeth Shue’s 1987 film Adventures in Babysitting is a classic. It’s one of those movies that I used to to watch all of the time when I was growing up. I totally had a crush on Elisabeth Shue!

Well, the Disney Channel made a remake of that movie and the first trailer for it has been released. The new movie stars Sabrina Carpenter of Girl Meets World and Sofia Carson of The Descendants as two babysitters who have lost one of the kids they’re supposed to be taking care of.

The movie looks exactly like what you’d expect from the Disney Channel. It looks nowhere near as good as the original film, and you certainly won’t be hearing the line, “Don’t fuck with the babysitter,” in a Disney Channel movie.

Disney Channel has given the green light to a single-camera comedy from Terri Minsky, creator of the channel’s first blockbuster original series Lizzie McGuire. Like Lizzie McGuire‘s Hilary Duff, Lee has just a couple of smaller credits to her résumé, so this could be a star-making role for…

Katherine Heigl on Marriage Equality, Kissing Alexis Bledel at ‘Jenny’s Wedding’ Premiere

Katherine Heigl on Marriage Equality, Kissing Alexis Bledel at ‘Jenny’s Wedding’ Premiere
The U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling legalizing same-sex marriage was very much front and center at Friday night’s premiere of “Jenny’s Wedding” at the Directors Guild of America as part of Outfest.

“I get very emotional and I cried,” recalled Katherine Heigl on the red carpet. “I was very grateful — grateful that our country has seen the light and is encouraging others to do the same.”

Heigl portrays the titular Jenny in the film, playing a buttoned-down Cleveland social worker who is openly gay — except with her family — and decides to marry her roommate, played by Alexis Bledel. IFC is releasing the movie on July 31.

“I loved making out with Alexis,” Heigl said.

The film, shot two years ago, was selected for Outfest several weeks prior to the Supreme Court ruling.

“Doing this at Outfest feels like the right time and the right place,” Heigl noted. “I

"Jennifer's Wedding," which wrapped production in Cleveland, Ohio in November 2013, is about what happens when Jenny (Heigl), the daughter of a close-knit family, finally decides to marry. Her old-fashioned parents (Tom Wilkinson and Linda Emond) want her to settle down, but react badly when she announces that she is going to marry a woman. While the producers successfully financed the film via Merced Media Partners and PalmStar Media Capital (executive producers are PalmStar’s...
