Hell on Wheels Season 5 Episode 12 Review: Any Sum Within Reason

Cullen does not seem to be lucky in love.

He’s lost his wife. He’s lost Lily Bell. He let go of Naomi. And now, Mei has let go of Cullen.

The budding romance built on the railroad of shared experiences came to a heartbreaking end on Hell on Wheels Season 5 Episode 12.

We all knew Chang eventually was going to find out “Fong” wasn’t a boy, but I wasn’t quite sure how everything after would play out.

Would Chang die? Would Mei?

Chang has been a fantastic addition to Hell on Wheels, proving to be a worthy antagonist to Cullen. The Swede has held that title for a while, but he also had multiple seasons to build up that bitter battle between them.

And that in some ways makes it disappointing that Chang was killed off.

Missy Peregrym, Nick Bateman Honored by Canadian Academy in L.A.

The Academy of Canadians in Sports & Entertainment – Los Angeles (Acise-la) has announced the Maple of Excellence honorees for this year’s 2016 Golden Maple Awards.

Actress Missy Peregrym will receive the Maple of Excellence for Outstanding Acting Achievement. The “Rookie Blue” star was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award this year for the ABC series, which ran six seasons. Actor, martial artist, former model, and online celebrity Nick Bateman will receive the Maple of Excellence for Outstanding Social Media Achievement Award for his work in film, endorsements, and celebrity status on social media. Bateman starred in 2011 cult film ‘Hobo With a Shotgun” and has two films on deck: “Then There Was Light” and “Airplane Mode.” Bateman has 5 million followers on Instagram and 4 million “likes” on Facebook.

The Maple of Excellence honorees were chosen by the Acise-la committee for their outstanding accomplishments in representing Canada in the United States.  The honorees will be in attendance at the Golden Maple Awards on July 1 at the Sls Hotel in Beverly Hills.

AMC is giving fans of Westerns a treat this summer, with the final batch of “Hell on Wheels” episodes to be joined on Saturdays by the series premiere of the limited event series “The American West.”

The network announced Wednesday that “Hell on Wheels” will ride off into the sunset after its final seven episodes, which kick off Saturday, June 11 at 9. It’s the end of the line for Cullen Bohannon (Anson Mount) and his work on America’s first transcontinental railroad, and the final push to finish brings with it a reckoning for Bohannon and the men standing in his path: the bloodthirsty Swede (Christopher Heyerdahl), the mercenary Chang (Byron Mann) and the rapacious Thomas Durant (Colm Meaney).

Hell on Wheels will start running out of track on Saturday, June 11 at 9/8c, when the first of the AMC series’ final seven episodes hits your TV box.

Leading out of HoW at 10 pm will be the premiere of the Robert Redford and Stephen David-produced The American West, an eight-episode limited series that will transport viewers “into the violent world of cowboys, Indians, outlaws and law men” and feature interviews with notable names from classic Western films, including Redford, James Caan, Burt Reynolds, Tom Selleck, Kiefer Sutherland, Mark Harmon and Ed Harris.
