Movie Preview: Magic Mike (2012)

25 May 2012 7:49 AM, PDT | PopStar | See recent PopStar news »

Magic Mike (2012) is a a film about a male stripper named Mike. Mike, portrayed by Channing Tatum, really seems to enjoy his work. He has taken a shine to The Kid, played by Alex Pettyfer and has decided to share his knowledge about women, playing, and making money. A simple plot leaves lots of room to showcase the male body, and what bodies they are! Be ready to feast your eyes on Matthew McConaughey, who plays Dallas, in very skimpy costumes on a stage making moves that make your mouth water. Joe Manganiello, portraying Big Dick Richie, will turn a few heads and Matt Boner, portraying Ken, peals off costumes that leave nothing to the imagination to begin with. Story line? Who needs one? Adam Rodriguez, playing Tito, was recently interviewed by Amanda Hasaka and said "It was the best work experience I've ever had. Everybody got along so well. »

What to Expect When You're Expecting

23 May 2012 7:21 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Despite the subject matter of the film, the cast of What To Expect When You're Expecting are sufficiently slim and glamorous that one cannot quite associate them with buns in the oven or, indeed, buns of any kind. Certainly, at the London premiere last night everyone was on top form.In attendance were Cameron Diaz and Matthew Morrison, who play a couple brought together on a Strictly Come Dancing-style show (judged by Cheryl Cole, also in attendance); Chace Crawford and Anna Kendrick, food-truck workers who strike up an initially casual romance, and Rodrigo Santoro, who plays husband to Jennifer Lopez's photographer and would-be adoptive mother.  brightcove.createExperiences();What To Expect When You're Expecting also stars Elizabeth Banks, Brooklyn Decker, Dennis Quaid, Chris Rock, Joe Manganiello, Thomas Lennon and Ben Falcone. Chris Rock Urged Manganiello To Strip For Magic Mike

23 May 2012 1:06 AM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Funnyman Chris Rock helped talk hunky Joe Manganiello into stripping off in racy new movie Magic Mike when the True Blood star asked the comic for career advice.

Manganiello heard he was on director Steven Soderbergh's shortlist for the saucy film while he was shooting What to Expect When You're Expecting and he took the script to co-star Rock for his take on the film.

The actor admits his funny friend wasn't a fan of the film until Manganiello mentioned Soderbergh would be directing and his co-star would be Matthew McConaughey.

He tells Entertainment Weekly, "I was like, 'Should I do it?' And he's like, 'Ooh... male strippers, I don't know.' I was like, 'If I do this movie, guys are gonna hate my guts.' And Chris Rock is like, Motherf**ker, guys are gonna hate your guts anyway. Brad Pitt spent 15 years with his shirt off, he's doing just fine. Who's directing?'

"I go, 'Soderbergh', and he goes, 'Who's in it?' and I go, 'Channing (Tatum), McConaughey...' He goes, 'Do the f**king movie!'" »

Alan Ball will be stepping down as showrunner of "True Blood" at the end of Season 5, and now we know who will replace him should HBO renew the series for a Season 6. But before we get ahead of ourselves, here are the synopses of Episodes 5.01, 5.02, and 5.03, airing June 10, 17, and 24.

According to Deadline, co-executive producer Mark Hudis will be upped to executive producer/showrunner for Season 6 as part of an overall deal he has signed with HBO. The two-year pact also includes a development component.

Hudis has been on "True Blood" for two seasons — last year’s Season 4 and Season 5, which premieres June 10th. While his and Ball’s paths previously crossed on the CBS comedy series "Cybill", where they co-wrote several episodes during the 1997-98 season, the two first met two decades ago working at trade publication AdWeek. The premiere of "True Blood" Season 5 is almost upon us and Zap2it got a chance to speak to one of the new cast members, Carolyn Hennesy. This veteran of "Cougar Town" and "General Hospital" is thrilled to be a part of the show. She tells us all about her character Rosalyn Harris, marathoning the show and which team she's on.

"She's a member of the Vampire Authority," she says. "She's been a member for a very long time. She's very old, as vampires go. And as for where she came from originally is yet to be determined, I would say. For the last, let's say two or three hundred years, she's called the Southwest home. Particularly Texas. Roslyn is one of those great dames, great broads who helped to settle the old West, so she's as comfortable in a salon as she is in an opera house. Pearls with everything, »

Channing Tatum on Stripping: I Was a 'Fool in a Stupid Outfit'

22 May 2012 12:15 PM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

Matthew McConaughey and Joe Manganiello joke around about what went into preparing for their roles as strippers in Magic Mike - but Channing Tatum, who actually worked as one in real life, says there really wasn't anything fun about it. "You're just a guy taking off his clothes, looking like a fool in a stupid outfit," Tatum, 32, tells Out magazine in its June/July cover story. The toughest part for the actor was the actual removing of the clothing. "I never enjoyed the taking-the-clothes-off part," he says. It's Raining Men: Details For The 'Magic Mike' Soundtrack Arrive; Includes Foreigner & Matthew McConaughey Singing

22 May 2012 10:59 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Let's get this straight up front: The Weather Girls' classic disco song "It's Raining Men" is not included in the "Magic Mike" soundtrack (maybe in the film?), but there is a cover by modern R&B singer Countre Black, so at least that's something.  A coming of age dramedy based on the real-life experiences of actor Channing Tatum, "Magic Mike" centers on an experienced stripper (Tatum) who takes a younger performer called The Kid (Alex Pettyfer) under his wing and schools him in the arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money.

Featured on the soundtrack are Foreigner ("Feels Like The First Time"), Win Win's "Victim" (featuring Blaqstarr) which can be heard in the trailer, and co-star Matthew McConaughey, who evidently sings something called "Ladies of Tampa." That'll likely be worth the price of admission alone. Tatum told MTV earlier in the year that his character dances »

It's raining men and cheesy music all over the "Magic Mike" soundtrack. A number of classics made the cut, and so did star Matthew McConaughey, who will be putting his shirtless stamp all over a track called "Ladies of Tampa."

Other songs on the soundtrack include a cover of the Weather Girls classic "It's Raining Men," by Countre Black, as well as the Foreigner classic "Feels Like the First Time." The soundtrack will drop on June 26, , just in time for the film, which opens June 29.

Noticeably absent from the track list is Ginuwine's "Pony," which star Channing Tatum said he dances to in the flick. "I dance to a pretty sexy hip-hop song, 'Pony,' " . "It's been one of my all-time favorite songs to grind to, »

'Magic Mike' star Joe Manganiello's craziest pre-fame job? Hint: It involved a pirate suit

In case you haven’t heard yet, Magic Mike (out June 29) was inspired by star Channing Tatum’s old career as a stripper. So when EW got Tatum and his cast mates Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello, and Matt Bomer together for this week’s cover story , we asked if anybody else had a pre-fame job that might make a good Steven Soderbergh movie.

Everyone shared their best odd jobs (Bomer worked on a gas pipeline; McConaughey spent a wild year in Australia), but it was True Blood star Manganiello who had the entire table engrossed with his showstopping story about his craziest before-he-was-famous gig. »

Grabbing Girls Left Matthew McConaughey All Naked In Magic Mike

21 May 2012 1:06 AM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Matthew McConaughey literally bared all during a raunchy scene in new male stripper movie Magic Mike - when a group of grabbing girls went too far in one scene and prompted a wardrobe malfunction.

The movie star was shooting an erotic dancing scene in a club full of lusty extras when his thong slipped away - and rather than stop filming, director Steven Soderbergh gave McConaughey the signal to keep dancing.

The actor tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "I stayed in sequence. I went for the tuck. I went for the roll - and I finished the dance."

Co-star Joe Manganiello admits he was amazed there weren't more unscripted full frontal moments - because the women brought in to lust after himself, McConaughey, Channing Tatum and Matt Bomer were wild.

He adds, "The women are crazy... There are husbands who are going to divorce their wives when they see what their wives were doing as extras on this movie." »
