The A&E drama series Longmire, based on the Walt Longmire mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson, is a contemporary crime thriller set in Big Sky country. Walt Longmire (Australian actor Robert Taylor) is the charismatic, dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming, who buries the pain of losing his wife behind a brave face and dry wit. With the help of Victoria “Vic” Moretti (Katee Sackhoff), a female deputy new to the department, Longmire becomes reinvigorated about his job and committed to running for re-election, as he rebuilds his personal and professional life. During this exclusive interview with Collider, actress Katee Sackhoff talked about how this show came about and how it came down to either Longmire or the ABC fantasy series Once Upon A Time (she was up for Jennifer Morrison’s role), how she identifies with her character, and what she enjoys about working with this cast. »

"Ready, Set, Fund" is a column about crowdfunding and related fundraising endeavors for Austin and Texas independent film projects.
It's only natural that talented acquaintances in the local music scene like Britt Daniel of Spoon or Ian Moore have achieved national recognition for their musical talent. Another success story is that of one of the hardest working bands I've ever known, The Gourds, comprised of Kevin Russell, Keith Langford, Max Johnston, Jimmy Smith and Claude Bernard. In addition to routinely playing at Shady Grove and Threadgill's South, or touring nationally, the Gourds also contributed music to a local short film, Mike Woolf's 2003 documentary Growin' a Beard.
The Gourds themselves are now the subject of All the Labor, a documentary currently funding through Monday, June 11, on Kickstarter. Filmmaker Doug Hawes-Davis is the founder of the annual Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in Missoula, Montana, where he initially met the band »

Days of the Dead II is taking place this weekend in Atlanta, and one very memorable face from my childhood is here— Alex Vincent, aka Andy in the Child's Play series. We chatted a bit about his experiences on the set of Child's Play as well as TikGames' upcoming Chucky game.
Amanda: You starred as Andy in the 1988 classic Child's Play. How did you get the role in the film, and what was the audition process like?
Alex: I auditioned for Child's Play in New York City, like many others at the time. I was fortunate enough to get a couple callbacks for the role, and finally I was flown out to La to audition against two other kids. I remember my mother was in the room with me during the audition, which was unusual, even at 6 years old. We got to the scene where I was supposed to say, »

When the Montana Film Office launched a contest, Pitch the 406, to encourage filmmakers to pitch the office on shooting a film in Montana, they didn't know their judges would choose Montana natives. That result reflects well on what is proving itself to be an interesting place for filmmakers to shoot stories that need a certain look. Recently, "Taking Chance," "My Sister's Keeper," "Hoot," "Hidalgo," "The Slaughter Rule" (and this film from the same filmmakers) and the documentary "Sweetgrass" have all used Montana vistas as their backdrop. For the Pitch the 406 contest, which awards its winner $20,000 for shooting in Big Sky Country, filmmakers needed to upload pitches to YouTube, which would then be considered by a panel of well-established filmmaking judges. Here's the winning pitch, from "Magpie" director Matthew Smaglik and his production team: "Magpie," a »

It seemed to become unnaturally windy as soon as I arrived at the crew parking lot for Compound Fracture. Roughly 50 miles Northwest of Los Angeles, I soon found myself somewhat in the middle of nowhere or as the locals call it: Piru, California. The film’s main location sat perched up on a hill, mostly hidden from my car which seemed over a mile away. With the knowledge that I was about to spend the day with Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees and Ben Willis (aka the hook killer from I Know What You Did Last Summer), I laughed off a prayer I’d make it out alive.
As soon as I caught site of the set, it’s exterior seemed like a boring and most definitely unassuming house. But upon further inspection, underneath the building’s mundane facade existed a rather creepy cult compound vibe. As I stood there, taking in my surroundings, »

Okay, so let's say for argument's sake that you take Tyler Mane (Michael, Halloween), Derek Mears (Jason, Friday the 13th), and Muse Watson (The Fisherman, I Know What You Did Last Summer); and you gather them together in one film. It's pretty safe to assume that mayhem will ensue and there will be many a Compound Fracture to come!
Shooting right now is a little flick for Mane Entertainment called Compound Fracture, written by Renae Geerlings and Tyler Mane, directed by A.J. Rickert-Epstein, and starring Tyler Mane, Derek Mears, Muse Watson, Dan Roebuck, Todd Farmer, Renae Geerlings, Alex Saxon, and Susan Angelo. Interested? Yeah, we knew you would be.
