The other series nominees are "Boardwalk Empire," "Game of Thrones," "Homeland" and "Mad Men" in the drama category and "30 Rock," "Girls," "Louie" and "Parks and Recreation" on the comedy side.

'Game of Thrones,' 'Big Bang Theory' among PGA award nominees

28 November 2012 9:12 AM, PST | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

HBO’s Game of Thrones, Showtime’s Homeland, CBS’ Big Bang Theory and FX’s Louie were among the nominees in the top categories for the annual Producers Guild of America awards.

There’s a lot of overlap here with the 2012 Emmy award nominations, with a few exceptions: HBO’s Boardwalk Empire missed landing a slot for best drama series (there were six Emmy nominees and five for PGA). While on the comedy side, HBO’s Girls and Veep weren’t nominated, but Louie was. If you’re wondering why Comedy Central’s Emmy favorite The Daily Show with Jon Stewart »

Sacha Baron Cohen to develop The Lesbian for Paramount

5 October 2012 3:30 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

After taking the leading roles in this year’s brilliant comedy, The Dictator, Sacha Baron Cohen is set to return to his usual controversial antics, having found his next project in a true-life story that surfaced last week.

Cecil Chao, a Hong Kong billionaire business tycoon, has recently offered a sum of $65m. to the man who can woo and marry his lesbian daughter, who recently wed her partner of seven years in France.

This is the story that Baron Cohen is bringing to Paramount, Deadline report, to develop as his next potential starring vehicle.

Naturally, it’s expected the actor would be playing the role of the business tycoon, and it will be interesting to see if he’ll be playing him as a Hong Kong billionaire, or if his nationality will change. (My guess: probably the former.)

Baron Cohen will be producing through his Four By Two Films banner, »

The Dictator

Review by Duncan Bain

Stars: Sacha Baron Cohen, Anna Faris, John C. Reilly, Sir Ben Kingsley, J.B. Smoove | Written by Sacha Baron Cohen, Alec Berg, David Mandel, Jeff Schaffer | Directed by Larry Charles

“The heroic story of a dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.”

Sacha Baron Cohen’s Channel 4 series Da Ali G Show rocketed him to international success and acclaim roughly ten years ago – the three main characters from that show have each enjoyed cinematic outings (to varying degrees of success) making the Dictator, General Aladeen his 1st original character to grace the silver screen. “Original” may be a misnomer however, as Aladeen is a gestalt surrogate used to embody every despotic cliché one can imagine.

The plot, such as it is, borrows heavily from Coming to America – Aladeen is ungraciously ripped from »

17 September 2012 9:30 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

The man a lot of people love, but would hate to be embroiled in even a minor social interaction with, Larry David, is seeing the casting for his latest project, Clear History, fall perfectly into place. David will star in the film, for which he co-wrote the script, and will be working alongside Gregg Mottola (The Newsroom), who will direct and executively produce. His fellow Curb writers, Alec Berg, David Mandel, and Jeff Schaffer also contributed to the screenplay, and are executive producers, with Mottola and Bradley Thomas (There’S Something About Mary).

The story focuses on another sympathetic misfit, former marketing executive, »

More Details Emerge on Greg Mottola’s Untitled Comedy with Larry David, Jon Hamm and Michael Keaton (Updated with Even More Details!)

3 August 2012 4:18 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

We previously reported that Greg Mottola's untitled comedy that stars Larry David, Jon Hamm and Michael Keaton may be debuting on HBO.  Now we have a bit more clarity on what the plot of the film concerns and more information on what Keaton's character will be.  The partially improvised comedy seems like it will play out as a feature-length version of David's successful Curb Your Enthusiasm series.  Hit the jump for more on the project. Variety reports that the plot of the untitled comedy concerns David and Hamm's characters as investors in an electric car company.  Though both of them have different goals in mind, the outcome favors Hamm's businessman who becomes obscenely rich and causes tension beween the two.  Keaton, meanwhile, would be playing a character named Stumpo, a crazy businessman who is David's friend. Larry David’s Improv Film Going to HBO

27 July 2012 5:33 PM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Should you, like I, have been anticipating the chance to see Larry David‘s balding head on a movie theater screen, this will come as a tiny disappointment. While nothing appears to have changed in terms of general content, 24Frames reports that his untitled improv film, set to be directed by Greg Mottola, will take itself from multiplexes to the star’s current home, HBO.

The deal has yet to become official, but some undisclosed sources claim “talks are well underway” between Fox Searchlight and the TV network. Thankfully, their story indicates this transition is not happening on account of poor development or disputes; while the studio wanted to make it happen, they were “not willing to match HBO’s budget ceiling.” (You think it’d be the opposite, really. Anyway.) So, now, those with a proper subscription can watch it to their heart’s content. The rest of you »

Larry David's movie will screen on HBO now, which is still pretty good

27 July 2012 2:13 PM, PDT | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

Larry David's mostly improvised film co-written with his Curb Your Enthusiasm staff of Alec Berg, David Mandel, and Jeff Schaffer—but which is nevertheless not a Curb Your Enthusiasm film—continues to muddy that distinction somewhat with the news that it will end up airing on HBO instead of in theaters. According to the Los Angeles Times, David had set the mystery project up at Fox Searchlight earlier this year with Greg Mottola, then attracted a supporting cast that includes names like Jon Hamm and Michael Keaton. And yet somehow Fox Searchlight balked at offering David the same sort »
