Dexter 5.12 "The Big One" Recap

15 December 2010 11:19 AM, PST | | See recent news »

Check out Michael Mahoney's recap here. Onto the recap.

Dexter is preparing for the end. The end of Jordan Chase, that is. He vows to Harry that he will not let Lumen die, and just as he opens to the door to go find them both, the kids, their grandparents and Harrison's nanny are all there to surprise him. The kids also ask to stay with him for the summer, and he says they can before hurrying out the door.

Deb informs Laguerta that Chase's plane was fueled up and ready to fly, but he didn't show up. Laguerta says they should issue a stake and notify, putting him under surveillance until they have enough to bust him.

Dexter calls Chase while he drives, who is also drving, with Lumen in his trunk. Dexter offers to turn himself over to Chase, but he declines and says he has what he wants. »

Dexter 5.11 "Hop a Freighter" Recap

7 December 2010 7:34 PM, PST | | See recent news »

As always, check out Michael Mahoney's review of the episode here.

"Hop a Freighter" is the penultimate episode of the season, which means that the end is near. Is time running out for Dexter? Lumen? Jordan Chase? Stan Liddy? Let's recap what happened.

Deb and Quinn pay a visit to Jordan Chase to let him know they went to Alex Tilden's house after his call and that it seems Tilden has disappeared. Deb points out that all three men who have disappeared have him in common and says she's onto him, and he flips it around and accuses her of being obsessed with him.

Dexter and Lumen know just where Chase is - his office - but know they can't get him there. He's increased his security staff and it will be difficult for them to get him alone and vulnerable. Lumen wants to be used as bait, but Dexter says it's too dangerous. »

Dexter 5.10 "In the Beginning" Recap

30 November 2010 4:17 PM, PST | | See recent news »

You can read Michael Mahoney's review of this episode here.

This is the third to last Dexter episode of the season, so things are ramping up on all fronts. Allow me to try on these new gloves that Dexter bought me and we can recap what happened...

Planning for the worst, Dexter hands Harry over to his nanny, who is going to take him to his grandparents. He's getting him out of Miami to make sure he's safe and can focus on the task at hand: stopping Jordan Chase and his associates. He then takes Lumen to the apartment, a place that Chase doesn't know about. Their first plan is to visit Emily Birch, whose blood was in the vial that Chase wore.

Since the new evidence was uncovered by the police, Laguerta and Masuka let everyone know that Cole Harmon is once again their main target - though Dexter has already eliminated him. »

Sneak Peeks - Dexter 5.11 "Hop a Freighter"

30 November 2010 4:01 AM, PST | | See recent news »

In each new episode of Dexter, you can feel the tension rising and the action coming to a head. So with only two episodes left, there are a lot of questions that remain to be answered. What will come of Liddy's surveillance on Dex and Lumen? Who's going to catch Jordan Chase first.....Dexter and Lumen or Miami Metro? Will this be the season Deb finally finds out about her brother? Is there going to be another game changer at the end of season 5 like Rita's murder in S4?

According to Showtime, next week's episode description is:

Dexter and Lumen's plans are momentarily thwarted when Dexter's forced to do damage control after he concedes that someone, outside of Miami Metro, has taken an interest in them. Debra's speculation on the missing Barrel Girl suspects begins to take shape. Quinn finds himself more involved in a homicide than he'd like to be. »

Dexter 5.08 "Take It!" Recap

16 November 2010 2:59 PM, PST | | See recent news »

Michael Mahoney called "Take It!" the best episode of the season in his review, which you can read here.

And now, let's put on our Jordan Chase onesies and recap what happened.

Dexter attends one of Jordan Chase's seminars to check it out and also work on figuring out a way to murder Cole Harman. The seminar is more of a rally, complete with big screens, flashing lights and hundreds of excited Chase followers. 'I've never been around so many people that made me feel normal...really normal,' Dexter thinks.

Laguerta arrives at work that day to a mob of press asking about the undercover operation that ended up with the loss of innocent life. "There are going to be consequences," she says to the team. Deb talks to Quinn about that night, and how she shot and killed Carlos Fuentes, but says she doesn't feel bad and that's the problem. »

Once you're done, feel free to share your picks with us!

Best New Show

Crit Obara - Terriers

I could give this award to The Walking Dead because I can already tell it's going to be up there once the season is over, but Terriers came out of nowhere and has really impressed me. Donal Logue and Michael Raymond-James' on-screen chemistry is phenomenal, the supporting cast has been solid and the show has managed to balance humor and darkness every week. This fall, »

Dexter 5.07 "Circle Us" Recap

8 November 2010 7:27 PM, PST | | See recent news »

Michael Mahoney liked "Circle Us" better than the previous episode of Dexter, but still left him a little "meh." Check out his review here.

The last episode ended with Dexter deciding to help Lumen. This episode opens with Lumen telling him about the time she was held by Boyd Fowler and the other men that he was working with. This is their first step to catching the unknown men who remain at large. While they're having that conversation, a group of men take Fowler's barrels - the ones that contain the dead women - out of the water and load them into the back of a pickup truck. The driver of the truck gets into a bad accident by turning left at an intersection without looking to see the oncoming car. Things are about to get very difficult for Dexter thanks to this collision.

Dexter 5.05 “First Blood” Recap

26 October 2010 2:20 PM, PDT | | See recent news »

Is it possible to atone for one’s sins by preventing someone else from making the same mistakes? Check out Michael Mahoney’s review of “First Blood” here.

First Blood” is the fifth episode of the fifth season of Dexter. We find Dexter dealing with and helping Lumen, Harrison drawing blood, Batista suspecting his wife of infidelity, and more dead bodies found, presumably killed by the Santa Muerte Killer that the Miami police have been looking for.

Dexter and Harrison are playing with other parents and children, and one of the other children ends up with a small cut on his face, which Harrison is responsible for, hence the title (“First Blood”) of the episode.

Dexter takes Lumen out for coffee, and he tries to convince her to leave town and go home to the people who care about her. She tells him that she can’t do that. »

Caprica 1.11 “Retribution” Recap

13 October 2010 3:42 AM, PDT | | See recent news »

Last night’s Caprica was evenly plotted in terms of story and character development. While Zoe and the Adamas took a back seat this week, the rest of the cast got a chance to shine tonight, even if all of their intentions are misguided or not.

Daniel and the Adamas are trying to gain votes in the next Graystone Industries board meeting by coercing them from the board members in bribes. One of the board members, Cornell, is brought to Daniel’s house, where Daniel pushes some drugs in his face and brings up some dirty laundry of Cornell’s involving “harming little girls.” It seems that Daniel made those charges go away and is ready to collect his favor. He wants Cornell’s vote in the board meeting in exchange for keeping Cornell’s secrets hidden and washed away. Cornell opts not to be blackmailed and calls Daniel scum for stooping so low. »

Dexter 5.03 “Practically Perfect” Recap

11 October 2010 3:11 PM, PDT | | See recent news »

As Michael Mahoney said in his review of the episode, “Dexter got its mojo back tonight.”

We open with Deb Morgan intensely interviewing potential nannies for her brother Dexter’s son Harrison. The first few are less than stellar, to say the least. Finally, there seems to be a ray of light; an Irish woman with a nursing degree with an emphasis on infant/toddler growth and development, who formerly worked at a hospital until her ward was downsized. She picks Harrison (she calls him “Prince Harry”) up and he is immediately all smiles. As soon as she leaves, Dexter knows that she’s the one.

Dexter sits down at his laptop to go over the photos he’s taken of the women Boyd Fowler had murdered. ‘I don’t know if killing you will fill the void, but it’s a place to start,’ he thinks to himself. »

Caprica 1.10 “Unvanquished” Recap

5 October 2010 8:01 PM, PDT | | See recent news »

Caprica is back and it didn’t hesitate to hold off answering what has been on fans’ minds since the show went on hiatus back in March. Cliffhangers are solved, surprises are sprung on us, and the fall of humanity becomes closer with each second.

“The Ultimate Drug To Heal The Ultimate Pain”

From television clips, we see that Graystone Industries is now in the hands of Tomas Vergis and Agent Durham is hot on the case of the S.T.O. car bomb.  We are still in the dark of Amanda Graystone’s fate, but it doesn’t look good when seeing a disheveled Daniel Graystone, who has clearly hit rock bottom.

Graystone meets with the Ha’la’tha’ and the Guatrau with the aide of Joseph and Sam Adama. He offers the crime boss the “cure for human grief”, which is basically the ability of recreating dead loved ones in the V-World, »
