New teaser for Guillermo del Toro's 'The Strain' is an eye-opener

17 April 2014 2:29 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

(Cbr) FX has debuted a new teaser for "The Strain" that features a look at the cause of the series’ vampire infection: a parasitic capillary worm. Based on the novels by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, "The Strain" follows Cdc epidemiologist Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and his team, sent to investigate a sealed airplane at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The situation snowballs into a battle to protect the entirety of New York City from a new viral vampiric threat. That said, these aren’t vampires based on romantic notions of recent years. “These are not sparkly brooding dudes with fangs and romantic problems,” showrunner Carlton Cuse said in January. “This is a really original re-imagining of vampire lore. There is sex in the show, but the vampires themselves are not having sex. They are not romantic creatures.” Debuting in July, "The Strain" also stars David Bradley, Kevin Durand, »

Behold the First Teaser and Pics for Del Toro and Cuse’s The Strain

This may be the most highly anticipated new series of the year, not just of the summer. A TV series from writer/director/producer Guillermo del Toro (Pacific Rim, Pan’s Labyrinth)! Carlton Cuse (LostBates Motel) as the showrunner! Pure Geek Gold. I can barely wait to see what they have in store for us, when The Strain premieres this summer on FX.

Today is a good day for us, as it marks the official beginning of the video marketing of the series to We, the People, with the release of the first teaser. Like all good teasers, it likely doesn’t show any actual footage from the show. But it is longer than a lot of other series teasers; none of that 10-second stuff for The Strain, but a full 30-second TV spot! And yes, it does make me want to see the show Even More:
