Cameron Mackintosh was born on October 17, 1946 in Enfield, Middlesex, England as Cameron Anthony Mackintosh. He is known for his work on Les Misérables (2012), The Heat Is On (1989) and Celebrate 'Oliver!' (2005).

He and his siblings -- he has at least one younger brother, Robert, who is also a producer -- were raised Roman Catholic by their Maltese mother.
Picked up the Musical Theatre Award on behalf of the cast of "My Fair Lady" at The Varity Club Show business Awards 2002.
He was awarded the Laurence Olivier Theatre Award in 1991 for The Observer Award for Outstanding Achivement for his creative contributions to West End Theatre and generous contributions to Oxford University for a visiting drama professorship, the Royal National Company for the presentation of great musicals and the Tricycle Theatre in Kilburn.
Became an Associate Member of RADA.

Sir Cameron Mackintosh produced "The Phantom of the Opera", "Cats" (both with music written by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber), and "Les Miserables". As they stand, they are the three longest running shows on Broadway. "Phantom" is the longest-running show on Broadway, and "Les Miz" is the longest-running musical on the West End, ironically breaking the previous record set by "Cats".
He was awarded the 1989 Drama-Logue Award for Production for the Musical, "The Phantom of the Opera" in the Really Useful Theatre Company Inc. production at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
