The run of post-Christmas picture previews continues today with Disney releasing new looks of two of its biggest animated projects for 2012. Throw your eyes down to the gallery for new looks at both Pixar's Brave and Tim Burton's Frankenweenie, courtesy of Collider.
Neither of the pictures offers much in the way of truly revelatory content - after all, we know what the main characters in the films look like already, but it's always nice to see some extra imagery.
Brave, of course, is the Emeryville gang's big release for the year, and what we hope will wipe the unpleasant memories of Cars 2 from our collective brains. The studio's first full-on mythical tale, it finds headstrong Princess Merida (Kelly Macdonald) chafing against tradition and custom and desperate to prove that she's more than just the future wife for some annoying lord's son. But her actions end up unleashing chaos and fury in the kingdom, »

Check out this brand new image from Disney’s latest animated movie set in the Highlands of Scotland, Brave, the 13th feature-length animated film from Pixar Animation Studios. Directed by Mark Andrews (The Incredibles, Ratatouille, John Carter of Mars) and Brenda Chapman (The Lion King, Prince of Egypt), the film features Kelly Macdonald as the voice of Merida, a skilled archer and the daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson).
Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land:massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. »

Pixar’S Brave Takes Aim
I predict 2012 will be the year of the female archer. Not only does The Hunger Games heroine, Katniss Everdeen, acted by Jennifer Lawrence really know how to rock a bow when it’s a matter of life and death, but June 22nd 2012 will see the release of Pixar’s exciting tale, Brave, which features the fiery young redhead, Princess Merida, voiced by the simply splendid Kelly Macdonald. You know her as Helena Ravenclaw of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and as Margaret Schroeder of Boardwalk Empire.
Princess Merida may be the first ever female hero in a Pixar picture, but she’s anything but your typical royal. She defies tradition and as you can see in the new pic from stichkingdom.com, knows her way around a bow and arrow. It is a good thing, too, because we hear she will encounter some pretty »

Today we have some new images from major upcoming films. First up, we’ll tackle the smallest, with Tim Burton‘s feature-length adaptation of his black-and-white short Frankenweenie. We provided the first looks earlier this fall, but above we see another look at a boy and his dog. Former Burton collaborators Winona Ryder (Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands), Catherine O’Hara (Beetlejuice), Martin Landau (Ed Wood), andMartin Short (Mars Attacks) will lend their voices to Frankenweenie, which hits theaters October 5, 2012. Burton’s other big 2012 film, Dark Shadows, arrives in May.
Check out the image above and also, thanks to Stitch Kingdom, we have a new still from Pixar’s next feature Brave. The image comes from a scene we’ve seen in the trailer, for the film directed by Mark Andrews (who helmed the Pixar short One Man Band) and features Princess Merida (Kelly MacDonald), Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson), The Wise »

I'm really excited about Pixar's new animated film Brave. I love that it has a different feel and story than anything they have done before. I'd actually like to see more of this kind of stuff from them. You should check out the full trailer for this film if you haven't already, to see what's in store for us.
The image above we see the main character Princess Merida skillfully aims her bow and arrow as her family of royals look on in disapproval.
The movie was directed Marc Andrews/Brenda Chapman and it features the voices of Kelly Macdonald (No Country for Old Men, Boardwalk Empire) Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson, and Robbie Coltrane.
Here's the Synopsis:
Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Connolly) andQueen Elinor (Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, »

Disney has unveiled new images for two very different animated offerings it has scheduled for release in 2012: the Pixar princess fairy tale, Brave, and director Tim Burton’s 3D stop-motion, movie based on his famous 1984 short film, Frankenweenie.
Multiple trailers and images have already been unveiled for Pixar’s next computer-animated flick; by comparison, only a handful of still frames and production photos have been released for Burton’s new movie, up to this point. Nonetheless, it shouldn’t be too long before a teaser trailer for Frankenweenie hits the scene.
Here is an official synopsis for Brave, followed by a new pic from the film:
A grand adventure full of heart, memorable characters and signature Pixar humor, “Brave” uncovers a new tale in the mysterious Highlands of Scotland where the impetuous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) defies an ...

Disney will shepherd three animated movies into theaters in 2012. Though we are still waiting for our first glimpse of the promising Wreck-It Ralph, Disney has offered a few looks at both Pixar's Brave and Tim Burton's Frankenweeie. Brave, a fairy tale set in the Scottish Highlands, has received the full treatment: two trailers, many images, and a poster to promote the June 22, 2012 release. The stop-motion Frankenweenie comes out later on October 5, 2012, so we only have these images to go by. Expect a trailer for Frankenweenie soon. In the meantime, check out a new image for both Brave and Frankenweenie after the jump, along with more info on each film. Brave features the voices of Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson, Robbie Coltrane, and Julie Walters. Images via Stitch Kingdom.
