Born in Beirut, Lebanon, of Lebanese and Armenian heritage, Macdissi graduated from the Institut De Beaux Arts before moving to Europe. After relocating to the US at the age of 22, he enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in Los Angles. In addition to his acting skills Macdissi speaks French, Spanish, Arabic, Armenian and Swedish. He is truly a citizen of the world and currently resides in Los Angeles.
In addition to his role of tempestuous art teacher Olivier Castro-Staal on HBO's hit series "Six Feet Under," his other notable television appearances include "24," "War Stories," "The Agency," "X-Files," "Zero Effect" and "JAG." In 2003 Macdissi was seen opposite Gary Oldman, Matthew McConaughey, and Kate Beckinsale in Le Studio Canal+'s feature Tiptoes. Macdissi's other film work includes Disney's Bad Company, with Anthony Hopkins and Chris Rock, Three Kings from Warner Brothers, starring George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg and Ice Cube, and Artisan Entertainment's hilarious mockumentary about a big budget Bible picture gone out of control, The Making Of 'And God Spoke,'" which had its debut at the Sundance Film Festival.
