Yvónne López Arenal was born in Havana, Cuba. Since 1978 to 1992 she has played leading roles in more than 20 Cuban and classical plays.
Since 1993 in the United States she played the leading role in "It Happened in Havana" by Raúl de Cárdenas, teatro Havana Fama (Los Angeles, California.) In 1994 she directed the masterpiece of Cuba, "Requiem por Yarini", by Carlos Felipe at the Los Angeles Theatre Center, (L.A); The monologue "De Pelicula" by Carlos Felipe, La Cofradia de Torrance, (L.A); 1998 she had the lead role and produced "El Super" de Ivan Acosta.
In 1999 she directed an experimental theater staging in "Tula the Pilgrim" by Raúl de Cárdenas. In 2002 she directed, produced, wrote and had the lead role "Seagulls from Havana" at Los Angeles Theatre Center. In Teatro Avante, Miami Florida. (2004) she has played the role Alicia in "El Hombre Inmaculado" by Ramon Ferreira.
She has played leading roles in feature films "Letters from the Park," produced by T. V. Española, directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea and written by Gabriel García Márquez; "Crin de Venus," directed by Diego Arché and "La Victoria," directed by Tomas Piard. In Los Angeles, California 1998 she lead role in the "The Emerald Cut" directed by Arturo Barquet. In July 2008, she finished a new role in Sergio Giral's films.
Lead roles in 4 mini-series for Cuban TV "De tu sueño mi sueño," "Capitan Rolando", "Dia y Noche" and "Cosas de Muchachos". Lead role in the Spain's mini series "Amores Dificiles" and the Telemundo's mini- series "Placas", as guest star.
Graduated at Instituto Superior de Arte, Havana, Cuba. Degree of bachelor of finje art in theater art. National prize for best actress del Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Cultura, Cuba 1980, 1982 and 1984. In 1989 she was awarded a special mention, José Martí Contest - Instituto Superior de Arte, Havana, Cuba; Vision Foundation Award for Creative Contribution to Los Angeles as actress and director; Cuban American Cultural Festival Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts. She has been Programing Director and Secretary of the Cuban American Cultural Institute since 1996. The Cuban American Cultural is a non-profit organization located in Los Angeles, California, whose mission is to promote the values of the Latin American culture. Director of The Avellaneda's theater Group.

She continuous her works in the Hispanic Theater as director, actress and writer. Yvonne is a member too of the "Instituto Cultural Rene Ariza" in Florida. whose mission is to promote the values of the Latin American culture.
