Show Premise

Darkroom was a thriller anthology series, much in the vein of Night Gallery, where each story had an image to present before it began. The series was hosted by James Coburn, who introduced each story segment as a photographer in his darkroom, developing photographs and tales. The innovative aspect of this particular anthology series was that the story segments had free range to be as long or as short as the story needed to be, as long as the segments fit within the hour duration. Most episodes contained two stories, but at times there were three.

September 9th Blu-ray & DVD Releases Include Pumpkinhead, Prom Night

For the second week of September, horror fans have a ton of Blu-ray and DVD titles they can choose from, including Stan Winston’s Pumpkinhead (the latest from Scream Factory), Synapse Films’ brand new Blu-ray of the original Prom Night, and Bobcat Goldthwait’s sasquatch tale Willow Creek.

Scorpion Releasing is also giving fans their first chance to own Oliver Stone’s directorial debut, Seizure, in stunning HD and Graduation Day is also making its Blu-ray bow this week as well. And as if all that’s not enough, we’re also getting a few re-releases as well including The Amityville Horror, a groovy 4 pack of horror movies from Image and a double DVD of House and House II: The Second Story.

Fantasia Film Fest announces full line-up

Following previous announcements of their film lineup, the Fantasia International Film Festival has released their full lineup of movies to be shown at the 18th Annual festival, starting July 17.

New additions to the lineup include 2014 Cannes Selection When Animals Dream, directed by Jonas Alexander Amby and the return of Fantasia’s showcase of animated films, Axis.

Tickets for the festival go on sale starting July 16, and the festival runs through August 5.

Synapse Unveils Prom Night Blu-ray Specs

It was on July 19th of last year when we told you Synapse Films was busy restoring the slasher classic Prom Night as a means to put it out on Blu-ray high definition, and now today the studio has revealed what's in store for us!

According to Fangoria, Synapse has remastered and restored the Paul Lynch-helmed movie in 2K from the original camera negative, presenting it in 1.78:1 widescreen (1080p hi-def on the Blu-ray), with an all-new 5.1 Surround mix plus the original 2.0 mono sound.

Look for this one in stores and online this September.

In the interim behold Jamie Lee Curtis performing her Dance Of Disco Fury™ and wonder how insane it will look in 1080p! Serious Business!

‘Video Nasties: The Definitive Guide Part 2 – Draconian Days’ gets a release date & Preview screening!

Prepare to be corrupted and depraved once more as Nucleus Films releases the sequel to the definitive guide to the Video Nasties phenomenon – the most extraordinary and scandalous era in the history of British film. Video Nasties: The Definitive Guide Part 2, a three-disc collector’s edition box set, is being released on DVD on July 14th 2014, to tie in with the 30th Anniversary of the Video Recordings Act 1984.
