By now you’ll have seen the first teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, aka Star Wars Episode VIII, in all it’s ‘Luke actually has dialogue!’ glory.

Although it was brief, this promo video gave us plenty to chew on. Two talking points seem to stand out: Rey mentioning “the balance” of the Force, and Luke saying “it’s time for the Jedi to end.”

But what if these two lines are actually linked? What if the idea of ‘bringing »

Bad Batch Trailer #2 Gets Weird with Keanu Reeves and Jim Carrey

14 April 2017 1:59 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Neon has released the second trailer for their upcoming indie thriller entitled The Bad Batch, the second film from heralded indie filmmaker Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night). After a critically-acclaimed debut at the Venice Film Festival last fall, where the writer-director won a Special Jury Prize, and subsequent screenings at the Toronto International Film Festival and Fantastic Fest, Neon will release The Bad Batch in theaters this summer. While it may not be a big-budget affair, this low-budget indie seems to have what it takes to become an instant cult classic and a sleeper hit, with a diverse all-star cast.

Neon has debuted this new trailer, which offers new scenes and a glimpse at this crazed ensemble, including a peek at Jim Carrey's Hermit, who is practically unrecognizable. He's seen trudging through the wasteland, wearing sunglasses made out of cardboard. It seems that he's dragging something through the desert, »

The highly anticipated follow-up to Amirpour’s acclaimed directorial debut, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, The Bad Batch follows Arlen (Waterhouse) as she is unceremoniously dumped in a Texas wasteland fenced off from civilized society. While trying to orient her unforgiving environment, she is captured by a savage band of cannibals and quickly realizes she’ll have to fight her way through her new reality. As Arlen adjusts to life in ‘the bad batch’ she discovers that being good or bad mostly depends on who you’re standing next to.

Ana Lily Amirpour’s ‘The Bad Batch’ Receives Second Trailer

13 April 2017 11:59 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night was one of our favorite debuts of its respective year, an impeccably photographed vampire tale that brought new blood to the subgenre.  fter a fall festival premiere at Venice, followed by a stop at Tiff, Ana Lily Amirpour‘s follow-up The Bad Batch is now finally arriving this summer. With a cast featuring Jason MomoaJim CarreyKeanu ReevesSuki WaterhouseDiego Luna, and Giovanni Ribisi, distribution shifted to the newly minted Neon and now they’ve launched the wild second trailer for the dystopic cannibal western.

As we said in our review, “Ana Lily Amirpour’s second feature shoots for Harmony Korine meets Mad Max and would have nearly almost hit the mark were it not for the gratingly aloof attitude and the swaths of directorial license being taken. Second Trailer for Ana Lily Amirpour's Post-Apocalyptic 'The Bad Batch'

13 April 2017 11:48 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"All the things you've done have put you right here... with me." Neon has unveiled a second official trailer for Ana Lily Amirpour's post-apocalyptic, dystopian cannibal western thriller called The Bad Batch. This follow-up to her feature directorial debut follows a woman who drifts through a hostile desert wasteland overrun by cannibals. Suki Waterhouse stars as Arlen, with Jason Momoa, Yolonda Ross, Emily O'Brien, Alina Aliluykina, Giovanni Ribisi, Diego Luna, Jim Carrey, plus the one-and-only Keanu Reeves. This premiered at film festivals last fall to mostly very negative reviews, from many people I trust. Jeremy wrote a review from Fantastic Fest saying that it "seems like something of a big step back" for the director. This is a very curious trailer, this visuals & music are interesting, but I'm still not expecting much. Here's the second official trailer for Ana Lily Amirpour's The Bad Batch, direct from Neon's YouTube: »

Neon is off to a strong start. After enjoying a successful debut with the Anne Hathaway–starring “Colossal,” which opened in theaters last Friday, the newest distributor in town has released the trailer for Ana Lily Amirpour’s “The Bad Batch.” The writer/director’s sophomore effort has earned comparisons to both “Mad Max” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” apparently living up to the strangeness of “A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night” and then some. Watch below.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was originally conceived as an idea for TV

9 April 2017 1:25 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

During an interview with Comic Book Resources to promote the home entertainment release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Ilm’s John Knoll has revealed that he originally conceived the idea as a potential pitch for an episode of Star Wars: Underworld, the live-action Star Wars TV project that was in development at Lucasfilm following the release of the Prequel Trilogy.

“The first inklings of trying to tell that story happened in Summer 2003 when we were shooting on Episode III in Sydney. I had heard that Lucasfilm was developing stories for a potential live action TV series, and they were active in story development at the time. That was kind of intriguing, and I started thinking about, ‘What would be a fun thing to do as a one-hour episode as a live action Star Wars TV show?’ One thought was, ‘What about a Mission Impossible-style break-in into the most »

Star Wars: Rogue One Adaptation #1 Review

5 April 2017 8:19 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Ever since Rogue One: A Star Wars Story came out last December, fans have been eager to hear about the earlier versions of the film, and the various scenes that ended up on the cutting room floor during the editing process. Well, thankfully, Marvel’s comic book adaptation of the movie is here to help fill in the blanks.

This first issue of six covers roughly the first twenty to twenty five minutes of the film, as it sees the players come together in their mission to stop the Empire’s new secret weapon, the Death Star. A lot of this is familiar material, then – for instance, Jyn’s meeting with Mon Mothma and the Alliance and Cassian Andor’s entrance at the Rings of Kafrene trading post – but the events are juggled around or altered enough to prevent it from feeling like a straight retelling of the movie. Pick of the WeekPaterson

What is it? A bus driver writes poetry in his spare time about the world and stuff.

Why see it? The brief summation above is pretty much accurate in describing the whole of Jim Jarmusch’s latest, but it doesn’t begin to capture the warmth, humor, and humanity the film delivers. Adam Driver plays the title role and creates a character far removed from the easily antagonized and disgruntled ones he’s best known for. His Paterson is a simple man of simple pleasures, but while most films would mock or sideline him here he’s embraced. Even better, his demeanor and perception of the world are remarkably calming and infectious »

‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ Blu-ray Review

3 April 2017 8:15 AM, PDT | TheHDRoom | See recent TheHDRoom news »

Risk is abundant in director Gareth Edwards' Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first standalone franchise entry set outside the greater Skywalker story line with all-new main cast comprised of misfits and outcasts. That risk doesn't translate into a fairly safe and straightforward Blu-ray release, but the film's strength more than makes up for any bonus deficiencies.

A lot had to go right for Rogue One to work starting with the performance of Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso. She's the anti-Luke Skywalker; a reluctant heroine who wants nothing more than to return to a peaceful farming life with her father. Jones plays the character with casual spunk unlike any Star Wars hero we've seen to-date, and that in and of itself is refreshing.

Jyn gets a lot of help from a supporting cast including sarcastic reprogrammed Imperial droid who steals every scene he's in (Alan Tudyk), a pair »
