Sony’s first trailer for “Only the Brave” shows the ferocity of the 2013 Yarnell Hill Fire that killed 19 firefighters.

Josh Brolin is the leader of an elite crew, called the Granite Mountain Hotshots, who valiantly try to save their Arizona hometown.

The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski, tells the backstories of the firefighters, focusing on the intensity of the danger and their camaraderie, showing them forming a human pyramid at one point with the declaration, “It’s not about what’s standing in front of you. It’s about who’s standing beside you.”

Miles Teller, Jeff Bridges, Taylor Kitsch, and Jennifer Connelly also star. When Brolin and Teller signed on in 2016, the film was called “No Exit.”

‘Sicario’ Sequel, ‘Granite Mountain’ Move From Lionsgate to Sony
Black Label has reached a deal with Sony Pictures to take over distribution of a pair of action-adventure films — “Granite Mountain” and “Soldado” — from Lionsgate for North America and select international territories.

Black Label and Lionsgate have not commented on why their distribution agreement collapsed. But informed sources indicated that disagreements on release dates and marketing strategies were factors.

Lionsgate is retaining the international rights on “Soldado” and on most foreign markets on “Granite Mountain.”

Granite Mountain,” directed by Joseph Kosinski, tells the true tale of an elite crew of heroic firefighters who battled to save their hometown from a wildfire. Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, Jeff Bridges, Taylor Kitsch and Jennifer Connelly star.

Granite Mountain” is based on the 2013 Yarnell Hill Fire in Arizona, which killed 19 firefighters. Sony will release the film on Oct. 20 — a month later than Lionsgate’s intended Sept. 22 release date.

Soldado” is the sequel to Lionsgate’s “Sicario.

Chris Hemsworth and Michael Shannon have signed on to appear in Horse Soldiers, which is based upon Doug Stanton’s book of the same name and will be directed by Nicolai Fuglsig, with Jerry Bruckheimer producing.

The film tells “the tense true story of a U.S. Special Forces team and their untested captain sent to a rugged, mountainous region of Afghanistan in the weeks after 9/11 [who are] assigned to join forces with a Northern Alliance warlord to fight against overwhelming odds to drive out the Taliban.”

Julia Roberts’ ‘Wonder,’ Miles Teller’s ‘Granite Mountain’ Get 2017 Release Dates
Julia Roberts and Jacob Tremblay’s “Wonder” adaptation will hit theaters on April 7, 2017, Lionsgate announced on Tuesday, along with the release dates of Miles Teller firefighter pic “Granite Mountain” and Pantelion comedy “How to Be a Latin Lover.”

Granite Mountain” is now scheduled to bow on Sept. 22, 2017, and “How to Be a Latin Lover” on April 28, 2017.

Roberts plays the mother of “Room” breakout Tremblay in “Wonder,” based on the novel by Raquel J. Palacio. The drama tells the story of August Pullman, who, born with facial differences that prevented him from going to a mainstream school earlier in life, becomes an unlikely hero when he enters the local fifth grade.

Stephen Chbosky directs from a script by Jack Thorne and Steve Conrad. Producers are Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman.

Summit Entertainment’s “Granite Mountain” also stars Josh Brolin, Jennifer Connelly, Jeff Bridges, Taylor Kitsch and James Badge Dale, along with Teller.
