Lucero was born in Mexico City on August 29, 1969. She is the daughter of Lucero León and Antonio Hogaza and has one brother, Antonio. She first appeared in TV when she was 10, and her first TV starring role, Chispita (1982), was when she was 13.

Sings the Spanish version of "Reflection (Pop Version)", main theme of Mulan (1998).

Her career image was tainted in a press conference for the celebration of the success of her theater show "Regina".
