Comic-Con 2017: Doctor Who Interviews with Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss, Michelle Gomez & Matt Lucas

9 August 2017 1:56 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Following the explosive and emotional season 10 finale of Doctor Who, there was plenty to talk about with the cast and crew of the BBC series at Comic-Con, and in addition to speaking with Peter Capaldi and Pearl Mackie, Daily Dead was honored to take part in roundtable interviews with showrunner Steven Moffat, writer (and co-star) Mark Gatiss, and co-stars Michelle Gomez and Matt Lucas.

You both have really intense moments in the last episode of the series. Can you talk about the emotions going through each of your respective characters' heads while you were dealing with these really intense sequences?

Michelle Gomez: That this is the last time I'll do this, the last time I'll say this, that's the last time I'll do that, that's the last time I'll say this, and for those last few weeks, the series was a kind of sadnesses—is that a word? Sadnesses? »

Freema Agyeman On The Possibility Of A Doctor Who Return: “Never Say Never”

2 August 2017 1:51 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

What’s a great Doctor without a kick-ass companion?

Ever since the Time Lord first hailed from the planet Gallifrey, Doctor Who has been accompanied by all manner of assistants big and small, with Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie) and Nardole (Matt Lucas) pledging their services to the outgoing Twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi.

If you’re a long-time supporter of the hit BBC series, you’ll likely find it difficult to select a favorite from the archives, but it’s fair to say that Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) left quite the impression on Who fans between the years of 2007 and 2010. Starring opposite David Tennant, Agyeman’s companion is well versed in the Tardis and everything it represents, and during a new interview with Radio Times, the actress hinted at the possibility of a return.

I had a really great time on the show, I really loved the character, it brings so many people so much joy. »

Doctor Who: Peter Capaldi at his last Who Sdcc panel

Kayti Burt Jul 24, 2017

Here's what Capaldi had to say to his Doctor Who colleagues during an emotional final Sdcc panel...

The Doctor Who panel at San Diego Comic Con got emotional over the weekend. For those gathered, it was as much a celebration of Peter Capaldi's time as the Doctor — and Steven Moffat's tenure as showrunner — as it was a sneak peek at the upcoming Christmas special.

Visibly moved, Capaldi turned the standing ovation into a celebration not just of his own time on the show, but of the other cast and creators sitting on the stage, standing »

Matt Smith called head honchos at the BBC before the newest Doctor was announced, begging to know who was being cast in the role...

Very few people can call up the BBC, beg to find out who the latest Doctor will be, and get an answer, but one of the people who can - and did - was former Doctor Matt Smith.

Peter Capaldi Set For Farewell Doctor Who Panel At Comic-Con 2017

4 July 2017 8:34 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

There can be few more impressive victory laps to take than one of the stage in Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con. The legendary venue has become synonymous with giant movie reveals – most notably for Marvel and DC – but the internationally popular BBC series Doctor Who changed that reputation when it became one of the first TV shows to appear there, back in 2011. The current Doctor, Peter Capaldi, first appeared at the Doctor Who Sdcc panel in 2015, but now he’s set for his farewell panel as he prepares to depart the role.

Capaldi has starred as the titular Time Lord for three years now, and announced in January that he would be leaving the show at the end of its 10th season. Also departing is showrunner Steven Moffat, who’s steered the series since 2010. The Comic-Con panel, scheduled for July 23rd in Hall H, will also feature Moffat, »

‘Doctor Who 10×12: The Doctor Falls’ Review

3 July 2017 6:01 AM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

So, the season finale is here and we all knew that Doctor Who was going to die. It isn’t a surprise, Peter Capaldi is leaving, as is Steven Moffat. With just the Christmas episode to go before Doctor Who returns in an all new form, does this episode live up to all expectations? Oh, and what of the expected regeneration?

With Bill (Pearl Mackie) seemingly a Cyberman, and The Masters (John Sims and Michelle Gomez) in control, how can The Doctor find a way out? The answer is of course, quite easily and with the help of Bill and Nardole (Matt Lucas) he fights to help a tiny band of humans from being “upgraded” by the Cybermen.

With all the focus on how The Doctor will regenerate, and who he will be played by, it was hard to really concentrate on the story in this episode. This may be »

"You shouldn't have hit me, Missy"

Thank you for taking the time, in the midst of the internet exploding all around you, to come and read this review. This is being written ahead of the episode’s transmission, and were I putting money on things, I’d suggest the reappearance of Heather from The Pilot is where the battlelines are mainly being drawn right about now.

How about we start there?

For much of The Doctor Falls, it really looked as if Bill – one of the absolute triumphs of the series – was doomed. »

Villordsutch reviews Doctor Who Series 10 Episode 12: The Doctor Falls…

Directed by: Rachel Talalay

Written by: Steven Moffat

The Doctor – A Pity…No Stars…I’d hoped there would be stars.

Following on from last week’s rather fantastic opener “World Enough and Time” the closing chapter of Series 10, sees the bowing out of long time showrunner Steven Moffat – writer of this two-parter – and rumour has it this too is the swan song episode for Pearl Mackie, Matt Lucas, Michelle Gomez and Peter Capaldi too.  So, if rumours are to be believed, this episode is going to require a box of ‘man-sized’ tissues.  Obviously because onions are being cut somewhere – I’m not implying I’m going to get emotional or anything, and I clearly had allergies when David Tennant said, “I don’t want to go!”

Wasting not one precious moment with “The Doctor Falls”,  the episode starts as »

Simon Brew Jun 29, 2017

The Doctor Who series 10 finale arrives on Saturday. Here's our spoiler-free look at The Doctor Falls.

10.12 The Doctor Falls

First things first: spoiler free here means spoiler free. It means you won’t find clues hidden in here, or much in the way of plot given away. Our levels of caution and spoiler-protection have been cranked way up, even higher than usual, for this final episode. And this is the only paragraph of what you’re going to read that was penned before we saw the episode.

That said, it was always clear that The Doctor Falls had a few things to juggle: the spaceship itself, the Cybermen, CyberBill, Missy, The Master and the impending threat of the Doctor’s regeneration. As it’s a part two of two, The Doctor Falls addresses at least some of those as you might expect, but it does some better than others. »
