Throw out all your inhibitions and your cynicism because Wonder is a tough film to dislike. So full of heart and so without an ounce of misanthropy, Stephen Chbosky has woven a tale rich and ripe in compassion. It’s unabashedly saccharin and heartwarming, enough to make even the hardest of folks beam through tears.

The world is a cruel place and it’s exponentially crueler to people living with disadvantageous conditions unable to be controlled. As such, August Pullman (played by outstanding young child actor Jacob Tremblay most known for his breakout role in 2015’s Room) has lived a rather sheltered life. Born with severe facial deficiencies (explained as the result of an unlucky combination of bad genetics from his parents played by Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson, also described as

'Signed, Sealed, Delivered': Daphne Zuniga goes postal (in a good way) for Hallmark Channel

On Saturday (Oct. 12), Hallmark Channel premieres the movie-length pilot "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," which has received a 10-episode series order, probably to air in 2014.

Created by Martha Williamson ("Touched by an Angel"), it focuses on Oliver (Eric Mabius, "Ugly Betty"), the head of a team at the U.S. Post Office's Dead Letter Office, who has taken on the task of being a lost-mail detective to make sure that undeliverable letters and packages make it their rightful recipients.

Along the way, the team saves lives, solves crimes, reunites old loves and changes futures. Helping the handsome, idiosyncratic Oliver -- who believes a snail-mail letter is the gold standard of human communication -- is free-spirited Rita (Crystal Lowe), intuitive Norman (Geoff Gustafson), and no-nonsense technophile Shane (Kristin Booth, "The Kennedys").

Under Shane's inspiration, the team goes in a risky and unorthodox direction, beginning with the chance to clear the name of a

TV Review: ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’

TV Review: ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’
Hallmark Channel is trying to replicate the soft-focus feel of its movies in series form, so why not go to the source? Exec producer Martha Williamson anchored CBS’ Saturday night for years with “Touched by an Angel,” and her new movie, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” was ordered as a series even before its premiere. Purposefully old-fashioned, shamelessly sentimental and proudly faith-based, the show plucks heartstrings with such unreserved conviction it will likely connect with a target audience prone to dismissing most of pop culture as one big cesspool. While too sappy for the cool kids, for Hallmark, it feels like the right package.

For starters, the premise and groan-inducing title have an almost unintentionally comical conceit: The U.S. Postal Service — a much-derided organization, running a massive deficit and struggling to survive the age of email — cast as intrepid heroes, repairing lives and piecing together happy endings. In an odd way,

Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Hallmark Orders New TV Series

Hallmark Channel has picked up Martha Williamson‘s backdoor pilot/movie Signed, Sealed, Delivered as a series. The show's first season will have 10 episodes and are expected to air mid-2014.

Williamson is the former executive producer of Touched by an Angel and this marks her return to series television. Starring Eric Mabius, the two-hour movie/pilot will air this Saturday, October 12th on Hallmark. Daphne Zuniga, Kristin Booth, Crystal Lowe and Geoff Gustafson also star.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered is a dramedy that follows a group of mail detectives in the Dead Letter Office. They deliver every last lost piece of correspondence to its rightful owner -- typically just when the recipient needs it most.

What do you think? Do you plan on checking out the movie and/or series? Does this sound like your kind of show?

Exclusive: Hallmark Channel is expanding its scripted portfolio. I’ve learned that the cable network has given a 10-episode order to Signed, Sealed & Delivered (formerly Dead Letters) ahead of the backdoor pilot’s October 12 premiere as an original movie. I hear the decision was made based on great testing results for the pilot. L'étrange 2013 Review: A Little Bit Zombie, Outrageously Funny Comedy

It's always refreshing to watch a film that has a new and fun take on the zombie metaphor. In the case of A Little Bit Zombie, directed by Casey Walker, that take is the change that love and marriage bring. The film is a very funny and unique take on the usual zombie film, and even the zombie comedy, through its use of some outrageous characters, screwball comedy and familial situations that had me and the audience laughing pretty continuously.Steve (Kristopher Turner), his fiancee Tina (Crystal Lowe), his sister Sarah (Kristen Hager) and her husband Craig (Shawn Roberts) are taking a little cottage vacation before the big wedding day. Tina is, to be frank, something of a bridezilla, and Steve spends the first part of...

Canada’s Primeval: New World Gets The Axe

  • Boomtron
There is bad news for the Primeval spin-off today. Primeval: New World was the Canada Space channel version of the dino-heavy, British, sci-fi series. After its first season run it has been announced that it will not be renewed for a second season.

From Omni Film Productions and it’s British partner, Impossible Pictures, Primeval: New World starred Sara Canning and Neil Matter. According to THR the gang can start looking for work elsewhere.

Producers cited poor ratings as the reason behind the decision to drop the show. Americans will get the chance to check out season one of Canada’s Primeval: New World on the Syfy channel sometime this year, despite the sour outcome. DVDs will also hit the market, thanks to the international distributor, Entertainment One, in the U.S. In the UK, DVD sales kick off in April.

Hulu has taken on the on demand rights for the spin-off,

Did Primeval New World deserve to be cancelled?

Feature Philip Lickley 27 Feb 2013 - 07:00

Philip evaluates the success of Primeval New World, recently dropped by its network, and asks whether it deserves another chance...

Warning: this feature contains spoilers for Primeval New World

Last week Primeval New World came to an end on Canadian sci-fi channel Space after a thirteen-episode run. A spin-off from the UK Primeval, now seemingly languishing in cancellation hell, it was purported to be an “older, darker and scarier” version of the five-season programme that inspired it, about anomalies opening up around the world allowing creatures from the past and future to invade our world, and the team who deal with them.

Primeval New World featured an entirely new cast – with one guest appearance aside – and a team discovering the anomalies for the first time. Admittedly, the show had its ups and downs (and more of the latter near the beginning of its run
