Letters Of Note have uncovered an old memo from the archives at Paramount, written on April 13th 1987 to the studio's Head of Network Television - detailing the actors being considered for the various roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation. It is interesting to see some of the names that were inconsideration for the cast, but didn't end up getting the part (for whatever reason). Hit the jump to see the full memo. It really could have been different; 1 alternate choice here and there, and the faces that have long been cemented in the minds of fans may have looked entirely unlike those we all are familiar with now.
I came across this archived interoffice Paramount Studios note, dated April 1987, detailing the list of actors who were, at the time, being considered for the starring roles in the then unknown (but forthcoming) Star Trek: The Next Generation TV series – my favorite in the long-running Star Trek franchise, which aired from 1987 through 1994.
Gotta love the web, right?
Anyway, I got a kick out of some of the names who were on the shortlist of actors who were going to be brought in to read for Gene Roddenberry the following week, as the memo states.
