Viggo Mortensen’s ‘Unabomb’ Nets Multiple Sales for Im Global (Exclusive)

Im Global has inked a raft of deals for “Unabomb,” selling the Viggo Mortensen manhunt movie to distributors across Europe.

The film has landed with Eagle (Italy), Metropolitan (France), Odeon (Greece), Splendid (Benelux), Scanbox (Scandinavia), Tobis (Germany), TriPictures (Spain) and Salim Ramia (Middle East).

“It has a high-caliber studio, director and producer, and Viggo Mortensen is an Academy Award nominee and an actor at the top of his game, with unerring good taste across his previous projects,” Im Global CEO Stuart Ford told Variety. “It also has a brilliant, fast, twist-laden plot, and distributors have responded to all of these elements.”

Viggo Mortensen to hunt the Unabomber

Screen Daily is reporting that Viggo Mortensen has signed on to start in the thriller Unabomb, which is slated to begin production in January 2018 under director Robert Lorenz (The Trouble with the Curve).

Based on Jim Freeman, Terry Turchie and Donald Max Noel’s book Unabomber, the film will see Mortensen as FBI agent Jim Freeman, who takes on the unsolved case of the Unabomber – responsible for 16 bombings over the course of two decades – and travels the country piecing together a profile of the terrorist. However, the closer they get to tracking him down, the more deadly and personal the attacks become.

Unabomb is being financed by Im Global, and is being introduced to buyers at Cannes. More castings are expected shortly. »

Exclusive: Im Global fully financing and introducing to Cannes buyers.

Two-time Oscar nominee Viggo Mortensen will star in the thriller Unabomb for The Trouble With The Curve director Robert Lorenz.

Im Global is fully financing the project and lining up additional cast for a January 2018 production start.

Lorenz is producing Unabomb with Michele Weisler and Im Global’s president of feature film production Greg Shapiro.

Unabomb centres on one of the largest manhunts in history as FBI agent Jim Freeman, played by Mortensen, takes on the unsolved case of the Unabomber, who terrorised Americans with 16 bombings over the course of two decades.

Freeman and his unconventional team travel the country piecing together a profile of the infamous hooded suspect.
