James Corden kicked off his new stint as host of The Late Late Show in style last night, bringing in plenty of big name talent and at least one video that is sure to go viral. His first guests included Mila Kunis and Tom Hanks, the later of which re-enacted every one of his movie roles in 8 minutes alongside the host.

Also coming onboard for the big night was James Corden's Into the Woods co-star Meryl Streep, who was joined by Arnold Schwarzenegger in a taped skit that showed James Corden getting into shape for his grueling new job as a nightly talk show host. He also did a lengthy intro, explaining to his audience who he is, where he hails from in High Wycombe, England and the fact that he has a wife and two young children.

Other highlights of the night included CBS corporate chief Leslie Moonves »

The Late Late Show With James Corden Premiere: Glad You Stayed Awake?

23 March 2015 11:36 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

“I know what you’re thinking: Oh look, Andy Richter’s got his own show!” giggled James Corden, kicking off his stint as host of The Late Late Show in utterly self-deprecating fashion.

And throughout his mild-mannered opening monologue, the British comic repeatedly referenced his surprise at being chosen to succeed Craig Ferguson in CBS’ 12:37/11:37c weeknight slot and his belief that most Americans have no idea who he is.

Watch: Tom Hanks, Jay Leno Join James Corden for ‘Late Late Show’ Premiere

23 March 2015 10:48 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Tom Hanks, Jay Leno, Meryl Streep, Arnold Schwarzenegger and a host of other notables turned out for appearances in Monday’s debut episode of “The Late Late Show with James Corden.”

Corden spent a good amount of time during the first show introducing himself to the audience. He mentioned more than once that he hailed from a place in England that few if any viewers had ever heard of, High Wycombe. He made several mentions of his wife and two young children.

Leno, Streep and Schwarzenegger took part in a lengthy taped bit that depicted Corden getting into shape for the grueling work of hosting a nightly talk show. Streep recently co-starred with Corden in Disney’s film version of the musical “Into the Woods.”

CBS Corp. chief Leslie Moonves was seen at the outset in a “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”-inspired element showing that Corden got the “Late »

Rob Schneider Shops Self-Financed Sitcom ‘Real Rob’ at MipTV

18 March 2015 5:42 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Rob Schneider is going the indie auteur route with his latest sitcom, “Real Rob.”

The comedian has self-financed eight half-hour episodes that will be shopped by Toronto-based Tricon Films and Television to international buyers at next month’s MipTV conference in Cannes. Series revolves around the comedian’s life as an entertainer, father of a toddler and husband of a younger Mexican woman, Patricia Azarcoya, who has an independent career as an television producer.

Schneider and Azarcoya co-wrote the episodes, with Schneider directing and producing. The effort grew out of Schneider’s frustration with his experience at CBS in 2012 with a similarly themed sitcom, “Rob.”

Rob” was paired on CBS’ schedule with “The Big Bang Theory,” which gave it a good send off but the show ultimately didn’t hold enough of its lead-in to command a renewal. It was also roundly panned by critics.

New Rob Schneider Comedy Series Is Coming

17 March 2015 6:15 PM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Rob Schneider’s got a new show!

The SNL alum produced, directed and stars in comedy series Real Rob! with his real-life wife, Mexican television producer Patricia Azarcoya. The show is an "exaggerated, yet brutally honest" autobiographical look at the comedian’s life and career.

"Rob lives in two worlds, one where he’s the most important person on set, and the other, where he’s the third most important person in a three-person household, after his two-year-old daughter, Miranda, and his younger Mexican wife, Patricia," reads a release from Tricorn Films & Television, who has begun shopping the show internationally. "Patricia doesn’t quite grasp Rob’s level of fame, because when he was getting his first movie role, she was getting her first tricycle."

Personal Best: Caro Returns to Studio Filmmaking with Feel-Good Adaptation

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from New Zealand director Niki Caro, who made headlines with her 2002 sophomore film, Whale Rider, before making her Hollywood debut with 2005’s North Country. After the dismal reception of her 2009 effort, A Heavenly Vintage (aka The Vinter’s Luck), she’s helmed, of all things, a Disney film, McFarland, USA. Kevin Costner, once the penultimate star of mainstream, sports themed cinema, finds himself as the figure responsible for fostering athletic careers, moving from Ivan Reitman’s Draft Day to late 1980’s cross-country coach here. Caro’s film is the second ‘based on a true story’ minority flavored studio flick this year, following Sean McNamara’s Spare Parts, which also relates the travails of a group of Hispanic students overcoming odds to succeed in an organized school events. Eastwood’s Fistful Of Dollars: ‘Sniper’s Cume At $110.4M – 4-Day Actuals

20 January 2015 3:48 PM, PST | Deadline | See recent Deadline news »

6th Update, Tuesday, 3 Pm: Rentrak Theatrical filed the weekend’s actuals with Warner Bros.’ American Sniper counting a four-week cume through yesterday of $110.4M. Talk about the spoils of war: American Sniper propelled the 2015 box office, in its first 19 days, 3.6% percent over the same frame last year with $667M. It stands to reason that this would be the highest-grossing four-day Mlk weekend of all-time with $248.5M after American Sniper broke a slew of records, read Eastwood’s career-high bow, best three-day opening ever during January and February. Previous Mlk record was 2009 with $231.5M when Sony comedy Paul Blart: Mall Cop zoomed up a four-day bow of $39.2M. American Sniper had the biggest theater average of the four-day weekend with $30,100, followed by Sony Classic’s Still Alice, which chalked up $20,685 PTA or $248K in 12 venues.

The consensus is that American Sniper is going to hold for another two weekends. Wide releases »

Film Review: ‘Spare Parts’

16 January 2015 12:16 AM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

You’re really asking for trouble when you title your film “Spare Parts,” especially when said film is as unabashedly formulaic as the one cobbled together by helmer Sean McNamara (“Soul Surfer”) and scriptwriter Elissa Matsueda. And yet, even though it’s easy to identify all the recycled elements — bits and pieces of several inspirational-teacher scenarios, ranging from “To Sir, With Love” to “Stand and Deliver” — in this “based on a true story” concoction, there can be no denying the feel-good effect of the finished product. Word of mouth should trump mixed reviews, giving this latest Hispanic-skewing Lionsgate/Pantelion release a chance to exceed expectations and appeal to crossover audiences in a variety of platforms.

Derived from an article written by Joshua Davis for Wired magazine, “Spare Parts” spins a lightweight yet likable tale of underdogs triumphant. Specifically, it’s the story of Hispanic students from a Phoenix high school »

Forecast (cont.): 'Paddington,' 'Blackhat,' 'Spare Parts'

15 January 2015 2:36 PM, PST | Box Office Mojo | See recent BoxOfficeMojo.com news »

<< Continued from "Weekend Report: 'Sniper' Sets Sights on January Record"At 3,303 locations, Paddington is shaping up to be a solid choice for family moviegoers this weekend. The movie was originally scheduled to open on Christmas Day; recognizing that there was an abundance of family options around that time, the Weinstein Company smartly moved Paddington back to this less crowded mid-January date. In the past, Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend has proved a good launching pad for family movies. Last year, The Nut Job earned $25.7 million over the four-day weekend, while Beauty and the Beast (3D) took in $22.2 million over the long weekend back in 2012. With great reviews (97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes) and a solid marketing effort, Paddington seems poised to open in a similar range.Opening at 2,567 theaters, Michael Mann's Blackhat will probably be the odd man out this weekend.
