George Lopez Leads Crowd in Anti-Donald Trump Chant

20 July 2015 12:18 PM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

It's safe to assume George Lopez will not be voting for Donald Trump. During his performance Saturday at the Phoenix Celebrity Theatre in Arizona, the Mexican-American comedian led the crowd in an expletive-filled chant slamming the presidential hopeful. Lopez himself called out Trump's name and then appeared to encourage his audience as they responded "F--k that p--o!" Before the cheering began, Lopez voiced his opposition to Trump's controversial comments about Mexican immigrants. (When the former Celebrity Apprentice host announced his bid for presidency on June 16, he claimed Mexico was "sending people that have lots of problems" to the United States, saying, "They're bringing »

George Lopez Leads Audience in Anti-Donald Trump Chant: ‘F— That Puto’ (Video)

20 July 2015 8:48 AM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Donald Trump may be leading the polls among the Gop presidential candidates, but he’s still a lousy option in the eyes of many Latino voters, and comedian George Lopez let his fans vent their frustration at a show in Phoenix over the weekend. “F— that puto,” the crowd chanted when Lopez shouted, “Donald Trump!” Backlash against Trump came immediately after he announced his presidential candidacy, because he generalized Mexican immigrants who crossed the border illegally as “rapists” in the same speech. Although he has lost a number of business deals as a result of his controversial statements, the billionaire real estate mogul. »

George Lopez to Donald Trump -- F*** That Whore

19 July 2015 7:12 AM, PDT | TMZ | See recent TMZ news »

George Lopez went on a full-scale attack in Arizona Saturday night, getting the audience to send a very loud message to Donald Trump ... "F*** that Puto." Lopez was clearly angered over Trump's comments about Mexicans, and the crowd roared with approval. It's interesting ... "Puto" is Spanish for male prostitute, and it's  considered homophobic by some. It didn't matter ... George, whom NBC is considering as a replacement for Trump on "Celebrity Apprentice," wanted to send the loudest message he could. »

'Celebrity Apprentice' -- NBC in the Market for Magic

16 July 2015 1:00 AM, PDT | TMZ | See recent TMZ news »

Magic Johnson is on the NBC wishlist for the new host of "Celebrity Apprentice" ... TMZ has learned. Well-connected 'Apprentice' sources tell us the plan is to find "a successful minority businessperson who's active in the inner cities." Magic certainly fits that bill. We're told there has been No negotiation with him, but he's high on the list. We're also told George Lopez is on that list. He doesn't have Magic's business cred, but he's hugely successful and a solid host. »

Updated, July 14, 2015 9:06 p.m. There is “no truth” to a report that George Lopez is in talks to replace Donald Trump as the host of “The Celebrity Apprentice,” an individual with knowledge of the search told TheWrap. Lopez was said to be in “initial conversations” with the network to take over the franchise, according to a New York Post report on Tuesday. George Lopez is taking a stand against Donald Trump -- and asking all Latinos to boycott him -- but also admits Trump's "punking" all the other Republican candidates, and might even win. Lopez blasted Trump Monday afternoon in Bev Hills ... telling us he's personally done with Trump -- he won't golf at his courses anymore, and wouldn't even consider replacing him on "Celebrity Apprentice" because he's not taking Trump's leftovers.  Watch, George clearly ain't voting Trump, »

How David Letterman Broke Latenight TV

18 May 2015 3:30 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

With his off-kilter sensibility (Stupid Pet Tricks?) and his penchant for the oddball (what other host runs across the stage in silhouette before starting a show, or strikes up a telephone relationship with a woman who works in an office across the street?), David Letterman has left everyone who enjoys latenight television in stitches. Now, he’s about to leave them in splinters.

When Letterman signs off CBS’ “Late Show”for the last time early Thursday morning, he will deprive TV of its last direct link to Johnny Carson and an era when just one, then two, hosts could dominate the period. The arrivals of Jimmy Kimmel at ABC, then Jimmy Fallon at NBC, and, soon, Stephen Colbert at CBS have given rise to talk of a third generation of late-night talent (if Carson, not Jack Paar or Steve Allen, is to be seen as the root of this particular »

The Late Late Show With James Corden Premiere: Glad You Stayed Awake?

“I know what you’re thinking: Oh look, Andy Richter’s got his own show!” giggled James Corden, kicking off his stint as host of The Late Late Show in utterly self-deprecating fashion.

And throughout his mild-mannered opening monologue, the British comic repeatedly referenced his surprise at being chosen to succeed Craig Ferguson in CBS’ 12:37/11:37c weeknight slot and his belief that most Americans have no idea who he is.

Rob Schneider Shops Self-Financed Sitcom ‘Real Rob’ at MipTV

18 March 2015 5:42 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Rob Schneider is going the indie auteur route with his latest sitcom, “Real Rob.”

The comedian has self-financed eight half-hour episodes that will be shopped by Toronto-based Tricon Films and Television to international buyers at next month’s MipTV conference in Cannes. Series revolves around the comedian’s life as an entertainer, father of a toddler and husband of a younger Mexican woman, Patricia Azarcoya, who has an independent career as an television producer.

Schneider and Azarcoya co-wrote the episodes, with Schneider directing and producing. The effort grew out of Schneider’s frustration with his experience at CBS in 2012 with a similarly themed sitcom, “Rob.”

Rob” was paired on CBS’ schedule with “The Big Bang Theory,” which gave it a good send off but the show ultimately didn’t hold enough of its lead-in to command a renewal. It was also roundly panned by critics.

Personal Best: Caro Returns to Studio Filmmaking with Feel-Good Adaptation

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from New Zealand director Niki Caro, who made headlines with her 2002 sophomore film, Whale Rider, before making her Hollywood debut with 2005’s North Country. After the dismal reception of her 2009 effort, A Heavenly Vintage (aka The Vinter’s Luck), she’s helmed, of all things, a Disney film, McFarland, USA. Kevin Costner, once the penultimate star of mainstream, sports themed cinema, finds himself as the figure responsible for fostering athletic careers, moving from Ivan Reitman’s Draft Day to late 1980’s cross-country coach here. Caro’s film is the second ‘based on a true story’ minority flavored studio flick this year, following Sean McNamara’s Spare Parts, which also relates the travails of a group of Hispanic students overcoming odds to succeed in an organized school events.
