FX’s Kelsey Grammer-Martin Lawrence Comedy ‘Partners’ Opens to Ok Ratings

5 August 2014 3:31 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

FX’s Kelsey Grammer-Martin Lawrence comedy “Partners” got off to a pretty modest start on Monday, averaging a little over 1 million viewers for its two episodes.

The half-hour, starring the comedy vets as mismatched Chicago lawyers, is produced under Debmar-Mercury and Lionsgate Television’s 10/90 model that bore comedies like “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” and “Anger Management.” If the show meets certain ratings benchmarks after its initial 10 episodes, as those did, it will get the go-ahead for 90 more.

FX has stated that its analysis of ratings data doesn’t begin until L+3s come in (DVR playback within three days of a telecast), but according to same-night estimates by Nielsen, “Partners” averaged a 0.35 rating in adults 18-49 and 1.12 million viewers overall in the 9 o’clock half-hour. It then dipped at 10:30 to a 0.30 and 1.01 million. This puts it a bit behind the March premiere of George Lopez 10/90 series “Saint George, »

Saint George: Season One Ratings

12 July 2014 4:00 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

FX made a deal with the studio of Saint George that, if the first season drew high enough ratings, the sitcom would be renewed for a second season of 90 episodes (similar to the Anger Management deal). Will it be renewed or be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.

On Saint George, a recently divorced successful entrepreneur (George Lopez) struggles to balance the parenting demands of his All-American Anglo ex-wife and the cultural expectations of his overbearing Mexican-American mother. The cast includes Lopez, Jenn Lyon, Olga Merediz, Kaden Gibson, David Zayas, Danny Trejo, Diana-Maria Riva, Joey Pollari, and Tobit Raphael.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

Following a 10 episode run with low ratings, FX has reportedly decided to cancel Saint George. There won't be a second season of the sitcom.

On Saint George, a recently divorced successful entrepreneur (George Lopez) struggles to balance the parenting demands of his All-American Anglo ex-wife and the cultural expectations of his overbearing Mexican-American mother. The cast also includes Jenn Lyon, Olga Merediz, Kaden Gibson, David Zayas, Danny Trejo, Diana-Maria Riva, Joey Pollari, and Tobit Raphael.

FX made a deal with Debmar-Mercury (part of Lionsgate) that if the first season hit a certain ratings threshold, the cable channel would be obligated to order a second season of 90 episodes (similar to the Anger Management deal).

7 June 2014 8:48 AM, PDT | ShadowAndAct | See recent ShadowAndAct news »

Who knew that Mr. Mariah Carey - aka Nick Cannon - had directed another feature film? It's a high school comedy titled "School Dance," which judging from the trailer, is exactly the sort of film you would expect Cannon to direct. I mean, seriously, think about it. If Cannon was directing "Selma" then that would be an unexpected surprise, and we would be forced to look at him in a different light altogether (“Wow! Cannon is directing 'Selma'? I didn’t know the brother was so deep”). But "School Dance"? Yeah that sounds about right. The cast is also what you would expect: Mike Epps, Katt Williams, Luenell, Amber Rose, George Lopez, with Bobb’e J. Thompson in the lead, »
