Majandra Delfino, who just exited the ABC/20th TV comedy pilot Keep Calm And Karey On where she had a supporting role, was quickly cast as a lead in another 20th TV comedy pilot, Dana Klein’s CBS comedy Friends With Better Lives, which is directed by James Burrows. The multi-camera project, from 20th Century Fox TV and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, revolves around six 30-something friends who each think the other has it better. Outsourced star Ben Rappaport is set as the lead of another workplace comedy, TBS pilot Do It Yourself. Bill Engvall is co-starring in the multi-camera project written by Walt Becker and Rob Long and directed by James Widdoes. Do It Yourself tells the story of Nick Porter (Rappaport), a 20-something laid-off math teacher who finds himself thrust into the blue collar world when he gets a job at that most American of retail institutions: the big box home supply store. Engvall plays his co-worker Dale, an executive with 30 years of experience who was once a senior vice president at Circuit City but has been reduced to minimum wage since his company went belly-up. The two join previously cast Melora Hardin and Ryan McPartlin. Rappaport, repped by Gersh, Invictus Entertainment and attorney Rick Genow, recently made his Broadway debut in Picnic and will next be seen in feature The Brass Teapot. »

Chuck alum Ryan McPartlin has been cast as in TBS’ comedy pilot Do It Yourself. James Widdoes is directing the multi-camera pilot written by Walt Becker and Rob Long. Do It Yourself tells the story of Nick, a 20-something laid-off math teacher who finds himself thrust into the blue collar world when he gets a job at that most American of retail institutions: the big box home supply store. McPartlin, repped by Evolution and ICM Partners, will play Tyler, a handsome Home Time employee who works in the paint department where he gives several paint demonstrations a week. The John Barrymore of paint, Tyler considers himself an actor and an artist, and really throws himself into his “shows.” Since his five-season stint on NBC’s Chuck as Captain Awesome, McPartlin appeared in Clint Eastwood’s J Edgar biopic and will next stars in the indie The Right Kind of Wrong. »

TBS’ Do It Yourself pilot just got a little more awesome.

TVLine has learned that Ryan McPartlin, aka Chuck‘s Captain Awesome, is joining the cast as a series regular.

The multi-cam workplace comedy, from Walt Becker (Glory Daze) Rob Long (Sullivan & Son), focuses on a group of misfits working at a Home Depot-esque super store called Home Time.

Basically, it’s Buy More with cork flooring and dimmer switches instead of flatscreen TVs and iPads.

McPartlin will play Tyler, an enthusiastic employee of the paint department, where he gives several demonstrations a week. Tyler considers himself an actor and an artist, »
