Watch This: Transformers Mac vs PC

23 December 2008 2:29 PM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Like you, I'm a little tired of the whole Mac vs. PC campaign. What used to be kinda funny has lost its appeal after 4,789 commercials starring Justin Long and that guy who looks like the dude from Office Space. But if you're looking for ideas on how to revive the whole Mac vs. PC thing by giving it a fresh, exciting spin -- then look no further than this very cool Transformers-inspired visual effects piece from Nick Greenlee. Sure, the two human actors are absolutely horrible and have no place acting in anything, but once they're out of the way, this puppy really takes off as both Mac and PC transform into robots and proceed to kick the living crap out of one another. I shall say no more ... so here's a little awesome to take with you on your holiday break.

Drew Barrymore Is Just That Into Her Blond Hair

15 December 2008 2:30 PM, PST | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Drew Barrymore showed off a dramatic bleach blond hairdo around La earlier this weekend. She was almost unrecognizable thanks to the hair - not to mention those stiletto heels. We've been seeing a lot less of Drew these days since she broke up with Justin Long in July after their lengthy Pda fest. While she moved on and was quickly spotted playfully kissing Ed Westwick in NYC, rumor has it there's another new man in her life. Apparently she's been spotted getting cozy with Jason Segel in La. Drew may be one of the many stars of He's Just Not That Into You, but that doesn't sound like a problem she has in her real life. Fame »

Betty Thomas to helm 'Chipmunks' sequel

10 December 2008 6:57 PM, PST | screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news »

Betty Thomas is set to direct the sequel to last year's box office hit "Alvin and the Chipmunks," the Hollywood Reporter announced earlier today.

Not much is known about "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakel," but the trade says the film will introduce the Chipettes, the female singing rodents.

Apparently, Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney will return to voice the annoying chipmunks. Whether Jason Lee will reprise his role as Dave is unknown at this point.

Thomas' most recent big-screen effort was "John Tucker Must Die." Her credits also include "I Spy" and "Doctor Dolittle."

Final word: I hated "Alvin snd the Chipmunks" to death, and the fact alone that we are punished with a sequel is disturbing. I still don't understand how the first film made more than $217 million. »

Barrymore Sparks Romance Rumours With Segel

10 December 2008 5:41 PM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Drew Barrymore has sparked reports she's dating funnyman Jason Segel - five months after ending her year-long romance with actor Justin Long.

The Charlie's Angels beauty split from Long in July and has most recently been linked to Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick.

But Barrymore has reportedly moved on again with the How I Met Your Mother star Segel, after their pair were allegedly spotted getting cozy at Los Angeles' Chateau Marmont on 28 November.

A source tells U.S. magazine Star, "Drew was all over Jason, rubbing him and kissing his face. He was on cloud nine." »

Thank Goodness! They Found a Director for the 'Chipmunks' Sequel!

10 December 2008 5:02 PM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

I know there's been a lot of consternation the last few days over who will direct the Twilight sequel now that Catherine Hardwicke has been shown the door, but I'd hate for that important story to overshadow another equally monumental issue: the search for a director for the Alvin and the Chipmunks sequel.

Who can fill the shoes previously worn by cartoon-maker-turned-Chipmunk-wrangler Tim Hill? Who can take the original Chipmunk concept (one-off novelty-record artists), mix it with the modern sensibilities of the 2007 film (singing rodents terrorize human, occasionally eat each other's poop), and come up with something new, innovative, and lucrative?

I'm pleased to report that the search is over! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox 2000 has hired Betty Thomas to helm the follow-up, which is being called -- I hope you're sitting down and have already poured yourself a drink -- Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel.

Alvin And The Chipmunks Get A Director

10 December 2008 7:03 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Aren't they doing this a little out of order? The Alvin and the Chipmunks sequel, so endearingly titled The Squeakuel, is set to come out Christmas of next year, according to last week's Production Weekly. But only today is Fox announcing that they've hired a director for the thing. The Hollywood Reporter writes that Betty Thomas, director of Dr. Dolittle, The Brady Bunch Movie and other comedies, will take over the next movie. How in the world are they going to start animating this thing now and have it finished in a year? Oddly, the voices of the chipmunks from the first movie-- Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney, have signed back on, while Jason Lee is still a question mark. It's weird that the chipmunks would be so eager to return, since their voices were so distorted in the first movie there was no way of telling »

"Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squekuel" Picked Up By Director Betty Thomas

10 December 2008 3:46 AM, PST | icelebz.com | See recent iCelebz news »

Director Betty Thomas will be helming "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squekuel," as per Hollywood Reporter. The follow-up to the 2007 live-action/CGI comedy is slated to be released on Christmas Day 2009.

The plot details are still unknown but earlier interviews by producers Janice Karman and Ross Bagdasarian Jr. revealed that the film will be introducing the Chipettes: Brittany, Eleanor and Jeannette. It has been rumored that Drew Barrmore, JoJo, and Miley Cyrus will be voicing the trio.

Meanwhile, Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler, and Jesse McCartney will return as the voices of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore. It is still not clear if Jason Lee, who voiced the human Dave Seville in the first film, will be reprising his role.

Bagdasarian had told MTV last month, "I know that Jason wants to [come back]. He's got a conflict schedule-wise, because 'My Name is Earl,' is doing a lot of shows through the end of March, »
