Director: Richard Linklater Writer(s): Robert Kaplow (novel), Holly Gent Palmo, Vincent Palmo Jr. (screenplay) Starring: Zac Efron, Christian McKay, Claire Danes, Ben Chaplin November 1937 – Orson Welles, producer John Houseman and their theater company at the Mercury Theatre began working on their much fabled production of Julius Caesar (the first Shakespearian play to be presented on Broadway). The Mercury Theatre was founded by Welles and Houseman earlier in the same year after the duo resigned from the Federal Theatre. In 1938, the Mercury Theatre evolved into The Mercury Theatre on the Air – a radio series that included the most infamous and influential radio broadcasts of all time: The War of the Worlds (broadcast on October 30, 1938). Welles and Houseman then moved to Hollywood and made Citizen Kane. Director Richard Linklater shows us a fictionalized perspective of the Welles (Christian McKay) and Houseman (Eddie Marsan) 1937 production of Julius Caesar. We are introduced »

Before I launch into the conclusion of my 50 Influential Scream Queens (read part 1 here), please let me remind you that this list is based upon my personal taste, and my personal taste alone. I didn't poll 100 Fango readers, the Fango staff or any other form of 'industry professionals'. It's all opinion, so if you feel I've wronged a certain actress by excluding them from the list, don't leap to brand the entire Fango crew 'vile'. I probably just don't personally find their work to be that influential. Either that or I'm just ignorant to their accomplishments!
25. Mia Farrow: Mia's genre work may be a bit limited, but that doesn't change the fact that Rosemary's Baby will forever be regarded as one of the creepiest films in history. Farrow's portrayal of Rosemary Woodhouse is harrowing to say the least, and will always remain (in my mind) one of the best performances the genre has seen. »

Item #1 - How The Earth Was Made
I really was a bad student in high school. Not horrible in the classical sense but I was absolutely a C student and I couldn’t grasp mathematical or scientific in ways that made me wonder if I was functionally retarded.
Smash cut to college and one of the very first classes I took my first semester was Geology 101. Kid you not, it was really brutal. Theories on geological formations, how earth’s natural functioning is a result from eons of slow and steady processes, why Illinois is so damn flat (glaciers! »

Mark Rendall, Renee Zellweger and Logan Lerman in My One and Only
Photo: Freestyle Releasing I guess I shouldn't be too surprised there is a mild bit of Oscar buzz surrounding Renee Zellweger and her performance in My One and Only, especially since it now seems as if every performance Zellweger gives is going to be no different than the last. She's been nominated before for doing the same thing, why not this time? Right? Of course, this is hardly a ringing endorsement, but I will admit My One and Only isn't the cliched tedium I expected it to be based on the film's generic trailer. Instead, it has several sweet family moments and an ending I really thought pulled things together nicely. As for Zellweger, she's perfectly fine, but she has done little to really impress me since Cold Mountain in 2003 and of course Chicago one year earlier. However, »

See new clips from "My One and Only," starring Renée Zellweger, Kevin Bacon, Logan Lerman and Chris Noth. The film is helmed by Richard Loncraine from the writing by Charlie Peters. Aaron Ryder and Norton Herrick produce. The romantic comedy sees limited areas on September 4th. Plot: The tires of a baby-blue ’53 Cadillac Coupe de Ville convertible squeal down the New York street, and none of its occupants looks back. The beautiful but mercurial Ann Devereaux (Renée Zellweger) has just left her philandering husband Dan Devereaux (Kevin Bacon), a society bandleader, and taken to the road with her teenage sons, George (Logan Lerman) and Robbie (Mark Rendall), in search of a wealthy replacement mate. Although it’s 1953, Ann is certain that her girlish »

Semi-retired from acting at the age of 70, George Hamilton is happy being remembered for his suntan, his gleaming teeth, and his reputation as a Hollywood Zelig. His autobiography, Don’t Mind if I Do, released in paperback in May, reveals how he left his modest Arkansas roots to make it as an actor, and how he spun the illusion of a glamorous lifestyle out of whole cloth. This week, a new movie called My One And Only—starring Renée Zellweger, Kevin Bacon, and 17-year-old Logan Lerman as a precocious George coming into his own—dramatizes a chapter of that journey, wherein his mother drove him and his brother across the country on a quest to find a provider among a list of her old flames. (The film, directed by Richard Loncraine, attracted the biggest crowds per theater this weekend.) We called Hamilton with the intention of interviewing him about the movie, »

I can't decide whether it helps or hurts to go into My One and Only with the knowledge that the teenage character of George Devereaux, played by Logan Lerman, will eventually grow up to become George Hamilton. It's not as if it's a secret; Hamilton's name is in the opening credits. He published his autobiography earlier this year, Don't Mind If I Do, which included some of these same stories. More important: This isn't a movie about the young George Hamilton -- or even the young George Devereaux. Rather, the focus here is squarely on George's mother, Ann, as played by Renee Zellweger. In fact, the film is a road movie -- episodic, quixotic and all over the map. Director Richard Loncraine, working from a script by Charlie Peters, ultimately can't overcome the story's repetitive structure, though the cast seems to have »

A heart warming piece of summer fare for those nostalgia buffs in the audience BAFTA Film Award nominee director Richard Loncraine (.Richard III.) has scored a hit with this nostalgic look at motherhood and baby blue 1953 Cadillacs seen through the eyes of film personality George Hamilton. When it comes to the tragic romance, Renée Zellweger has made millions with her on screen troubled love affairs. She returns to that formula in this film doubtlessly hoping to put the troubled past of former boondoggles such as .New in Town. behind her. In her smash hits such as .Cold Mountain,. .Chicago,. .Bridget Jones's Diary. and .Nurse Betty. she succeeded barely or not at all in getting her man »

It is the day of the New York premiere of My One and Only and Logan Lerman has still not seen a final cut of the film in which he co-stars opposite Renèe Zellweger. "I saw a version that was cut together but it wasn’t the final product and it was great. So I am excited to see it tonight."
Lerman plays veteran actor George Hamilton — yes, the George Hamilton famed for movies like Love at First Bite and Zorro: the Gay Blade, for his irrepressible turn on Dancing with The Stars, for his tan — as a young man. Zellweger plays his mother Ann, who together with his half brother Robbie (Mark Rendall), leave New York when Ann discovers her husband (Kevin Bacon) has a philandering eye.

Days away from its limited release in the U.S., "My One and Only" got a red carpet treatment in New York City. On Tuesday, August 18, red carpet was rolled down in front of Paris Theater, New York to welcome celebrities coming for the premiere of Richard Loncraine-directed comedy movie.
Spotted arriving solo for the special screening event was leading actress Renee Zellweger. The 40-year-old Academy Award-winner wore a figure-hugging, off-the-shoulder little black dress by Carolina Herrera. When interviewed by Entertainment Tonight on what she enjoyed most playing in the movie, she answered, "Hanging out with my boys all summer."
Renee wasn't the only cast attending the premiere. Logan Lerman who plays George Hamilton, Holly Palmer who stars as Tanya and Veronica Taylor who takes on Nancy joined her on the red carpet. Executive producer George Hamilton, whose early life story becomes the essence of the movie, and producer Aaron Ryder were also present. »

It's time for another round of poster madness, and the following are three one-sheets that recently hit the Web. These posters are for Steven Soderbergh's "The Informant!," Richard Loncraine's "My One and Only" and "Motherhood" with Uma Thurman.
The coolest poster is undoubtedly the one for "The Informant!," which stars Matt Damon as a man exposing his company’s multi-national price-fixing conspiracy to the FBI. Based on the novel by Kurt Eichenwald, the film will hit theaters Oct. 9, 2009.
Next up is Loncraine's "My One and Only," about Anne Deveraux (played by Renée Zellweger), who takes her kids from town to town across the United States to find a wealthy man and establish a new life. The flick opens in limited release Aug. 21, 2009. »

Releasing on August 21 is the under-the-radar feature My One and Only from Freestyle Releasing starring Renee Zellweger and Kevin Bacon with Richard Loncraine (Wimbledon) directing. Of course, the fact Loncraine is directing doesn't immediately turn our eye to the film itself as both Wimbledon and Firewall weren't exactly the epitome of filmmaking (although I didn't mind Firewall as much as some others did). However, Zellweger has become synonymous with the Oscar hunt and this is her only chance in 2009. Personally the film looks a bit too cheesy to me and the narration pretty much closes the door on my interest as it basically sells the film as generic schlock, but that's just me. Give the trailer a watch below or head over to Yahoo for the high definiton version. »

When Julia (Mia Farrow) Lofting witnesses her daughter Kate (Sophie Ward) choke to death at the kitchen table, her mental stability (as should be expected) shatters. Plagued by depression and a nasty case of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Julia leaves her husband Magnus (Keir Dullea), and attempts to build a new life on her own, in a new location. But Julia’s new residence is no safe haven, and she soon discovers that the peace she seeks is very far from “home”, for these new corridors harbor an old, malicious spirit, and few who come in contact with this entity live to tell about it.
An eerie film in just about every sense imaginable, The Haunting Of Julia (which was originally released as Full Circle) packs a load of chills despite a slow start and overall conservative approach to Peter Straub’s original novel “Julia” (which served as the films source »

Here's the brand-new trailer for Richard Loncraine’s upcoming comedy “My One and Only,” which will open in limited release Aug. 21, 2009.
The film is based on the childhood adventures of George Hamilton and focuses on Anne Deveraux (played by Renée Zellweger), who took her kids from town to town across the United States to find a wealthy man and establish a new life.
Also starring is Kevin Bacon, who will play the husband she leaves behind when she embarks on the trip. Chris Noth, Logan Lerman and Mark Rendall co-star.
Zellweger seems to be in great shape in the flick, and I'm looking forward to her injecting her scenes with her usual charm and energy. »

Access Hollywood has got a hold on the first trailer for "My One and Only". Providing a sneak peek at Renee Zellweger's portrayal of the glamorous Anne Deveraux, the promotional video features Anne ditching her husband who is caught red-handed cheating on her despite her son's disapproval.
Taking the set of 1950s America, the trailer chronicles Anne's attempt to find a wealthy man to fund a new life for her and her sons. On an extended road trip to track down her former boyfriends from Boston to St. Louis, she accompanied by her two sons drives down the Eastern seaboard. Despite the troubles she experiences during the journey, she discovers who the only person she really needs is.
Said to be loosely based on a true story of actor George Hamilton's early years as he told to Merv Griffin, "My One and Only" is directed by Emmy-winning director Richard Loncraine. »

Up until a few weeks ago, Julianne Moore was to star as the Hillary to Dennis Quaid's Bill in HBO Films' upcoming The Special Relationship. Moore then announced that she would withdraw from the project due to scheduling conflicts. EW now reports that HBO has signed Hope Davis (Proof, American Splendor) to take her place.
The project's focus is the relationship between Bill Clinton and British Prime Minister Tony Blair, but part of the movie will dramatize Hillary Clinton's relationship with Bill during the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Davis talked to EW about her identification with the situation:
Almost every woman in the world has been in that position -- it was a long time ago in my life -- where the person that you trusted looks at you and says, "I have an admission to make." It's a moment we've all lived through. Davis also reflected on »

The Special Relationship has seen its second dropout - Julianne Moore has been forced to quit her role as former U.S. First Lady Hillary Clinton due to scheduling conflicts.
Moore was set to star alongside Dennis Quaid, who will portray ex U.S. President Bill Clinton in the new movie, about the professional relationship between the charismatic leader and former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair.
However, Moore has had to step down from the role due to other work commitments, just weeks after original director Peter Morgan also pulled out of the project.
Actress Hope Davis will now step into Moore's shoes, while British filmmaker Richard Loncraine has signed up to take over from Morgan.
Frost/Nixon star Michael Sheen will once again reprise the role of Blair, after he received high acclaim for his portrayal of the former British leader in Oscar-winning movie The Queen. »

Julianne Moore has dropped out of the HBO Films/BBC Films movie The Special Relationship because of a scheduling conflict with the comedy The Kids Are Alright. The actress, who was slated to play Hilary Clinton, has been replaced by Hope Davis (American Splendor, Synecdoche, New York). Moore’s departure comes only a couple of weeks after screenwriter Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon) dropped out of directing the film. Morgan, who penned the screenplay and will still be involved as a producer, was replaced by Richard Loncraine (Firewall, Wimbledon). The film would have marked Morgan’s directorial debut. Special Relationship chronicles the unique and sometimes turbulent political relationship between newly installed British Prime Minister Tony Blair and U.S. President Bill Clinton in the late 1990s. Dennis Quaid is on board to play President Clinton and Michael Sheen as Prime Minister Blair and Helen McCrory as Cherie Blair. Sheen and McCrory »

They’re dropping like flies over at The Special Relationship, the BBC/HBO film that tracks the Tony Blair/Bill Clinton partnership.A couple of weeks ago, Peter Morgan – who had been set to make his directorial debut from his own script – departed the project to be replaced by Richard Loncraine, and now Julianne Moore has had to pull out of playing Hillary Clinton, due to a prior commitment. As with Morgan, a replacement has been found quickly, with the ever-excellent Hope Davis joining Michael Sheen, playing Blair for the third time, Dennis Quaid, playing Clinton for the second time if you count American Dreamz (and not many people do), and Helen McCrory, playing Cherie Blair for the first time.As much as we admire Moore, we can’t help but feel that Davis may be a better physical fit for the role – and, really, there’s a cigarette paper »
