5 Tna Wrestlers Who Desperately Need A Gimmick Change

21 October 2013 6:06 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

After Bound for Glory 2012, one thing is for sure: Tna needs help. Not only was the event lackluster, but the unneeded swerves also added to the total brutality of the shows. Bound for Glory is always known as the WrestleMania of Tna, however, looking at the disastrous event, I can compare Bfg to an average Monday Night Raw.

The star of the event was none other than Aj Styles, who won the Tna World Heavyweight Championship. Unfortunately, his efforts couldn’t help the show as a whole, since it obviously bombed. Although, there’s one thing that I realized – Tna needs new stars, and while Tna has a low budget, they can change their old stars and re-brand them into new superstars with just a new gimmick. T

herefore, the following are the five superstars who need to change their gimmicks, so that they can easily be one of the faces of Impact Wrestling. »

Tna Impact Is Imploding – How Bad Is Bad?

11 October 2013 12:22 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

After watching Impact wrestling last night I was embarrassed. I was embarrassed as a wrestling fan, by the product and by admitting I even watched it. Tna is crumbling before our eyes.

The best possible thing Dixie could do is Not resign Hulk Hogan but unfortunately she doesn’t know how to make good business decisions, so she will.

Her “heel” turn is painful to watch. Dixie may own Tna but she sure as hell shouldn’t be the face of it. Not only was her promo horrible, it wasn’t even believable.

Thank God after that we were treated to a great match by Austin Aries and Jeff Hardy. It’s matches like theirs that keep me watching. But…

Then we’re forced to sit through Bromance in the ring fighting with Odb and Eric Young? Why?! How is that segment even making it to TV?!

Aces and Eights is a laughing stock. »

How I Would Run The Tna Action Figure Line

27 July 2013 2:37 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

I love Tna. I love Jakks Pacific. I was so excited when Jakks announced that they acquired the license to make Tna action figures. I was so pumped. I loved what Jakks had done with the WWE license from the Ruthless Aggression figures, to the Deluxe figures, to the Classic Superstars line. Jakks gave us, without a doubt, the best years of wrestling figures when they had the WWE license.  Since Jakks acquired the Tna line in 2010, we’ve gotten 10 sets of figures. Just ten! When Jakks had WWE we would get more than 10 sets a year!

It’s safe to say that I am disappointed with the Tna line of figures, in the amount that we get. I love the figures. I really do. I get excited every time they announce a new line-up. Unfortunately, that seems to be once every 6-8 months. I really wish Jakks would try »

WWE: 5 Worst Gimmicks In Wrestling Today

22 July 2013 10:28 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

A wrestler’s character or gimmick can either be his best friend, or worst nightmare (just ask Michael McGillicutty).

Most of the time a wrestler doesn’t have much creative control over their character which is one of the many reasons why we see so many bad ones today. Unfortunately for the wrestlers, they don’t get much say in what they do, especially if they’re a mid card guy or a jobber.

A great gimmick can shoot you into the main event, while a bad one can bury you. Right now both the WWE and Tna have some characters with some pretty shitty gimmicks and I’m here to shine the light on some of them. The sad part is, some of these guys have potential to be Stars, but as long as they have these gimmicks, they’re going to go no where fast. Now lets take »

5 Tna Stars Who Could Make It In WWE

21 July 2013 2:29 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

After the recent releases in Tna and reports that the company is in financial trouble, it got me thinking that if the ship finally does sink, which stars could make it in the glitz and glamour world of WWE.

Now I admit I am a fan of Tna and do not want them to go out of business but there are some Tna stars that I would love to see in WWE and unfortunately Tna going out of business is probably the only way I can see this happening.

For fans of Tna some of these should hopefully come as no surprise but for non Tna fans I hope that my appraisal of each of these stars will make you take notice of, not just them, but of Tna as well.

These 5 stars, in my opinion, have all the tools to make it in the number 1 company…

Tna Bound For Glory 2013: 8 Matches That Could Happen

12 July 2013 11:31 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

We are only three months away from Tna/Impact Wrestling’s biggest show of the year. Bound for Glory is the stage that all Tna wrestlers look to, to make their mark on the company. The Aces & Eights are still running wild and one can only think that they will have the great fall at the show of shows for Tna.

I’m taking a look at what I think the card will be/should be with a sense of realism. Based on the current directions of storylines I think I’ve come up with a reasonable card and one I wouldn’t mind seeing.

So please, click “next” to begin my card for the biggest show in Tna, Bound for Glory!

Tna World Title 8. Bully Ray vs. Aj Styles

Former VH1 reality star Brooke Hogan, 25, posted a photo of her proposal on Instagram. In the pic, Phil Costa, 25, is seen on one knee, presenting a diamond ring to a very shocked Brooke, who is covering her mouth with her hand.

Tna Impact: Looking At “The West Coast Boogeyman” Edition

3 May 2013 3:46 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Impact Wrestling was back in Indiana, Pennsylvania for the second time and saw the building blocks being laid to the road to Slammiversary. Did it give me a reason to party over Tna’s birthday plans or will this party just be a bust? Well, let me tell you what I think.

Let’s begin with the opening segment, which saw Hulk Hogan apologize after months of doubting Sting. Sting says that’s water under the bridge and he wants to take the full offensive on Aces and Eights beginning next week in a six man tag. Hogan tells sting to pick whoever he wants for that squad, he has to decide who get the number one contender spot for Bully Ray in Boston. Matt Morgan comes out and says the shot should be his, Hogan says he’s not going to make mistakes anymore and just give someone the shot. »

Tna Impact: Looking At The “Hero Worship” Edition

26 April 2013 4:35 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

This week’s Impact from Indiana, Pennsylvania, just outside of Pittsburgh saw the roster pairing up together in a lot of different ways. Everyone seemed to be uniting in the cause of getting rid of Aces and Eights. However, was it full of outrageous fortune or did it not come together in the end?

The show began where we left off last week with aces and eights running roughshod over security and superstars alike. After, getting in the building The first victim was James Storm, who congratulated Aj styles on his new finisher family the rather un-phenomenal named Calf Killer. (I guess it’s the baby version of Cattle Mutilation).

Storm then proceeds to call out the Aces and Eights instead Bad Influence comes out and appeals to Aj about forming Fortune again and going against Aces and Eights. This leads to a fight between the two in which Daniels »

Tna Impact: Looking At The “Cut It Out” Edition

7 April 2013 5:18 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Last week, I made a point of saying that building to Corpus Christi, Texas next week which shortchange the audience in Jonesboro and that you had to make every impact of special. Well, this week I feel like they accomplished that more was great action, storyline building and good episode structure.

From the beginning with the opening segment as the Aces and Eights have three gifts, Mr. Anderson with a cut for Aj Styles (Everyone called it a cut in the episode and not a leather vest… I guess everyone watched their Sons of Anarchy DVD set again). A mystery envelope that Devon has saying it was.for the President of the club and his lovely bride who will have a confrontation later tonight and the Vice President D’ lo Brown has his termination letter from Tna Corporate.

Tna Impact Wrestling’s “Taking a Razorbackseat to Corpus Christi” Edition

29 March 2013 1:40 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

In the home of Arkansas State University, Tna came into town and delivered a show that was odd to say the least. The matches and angles themselves were a little off but what puzzled me more was the fact that they basically came out and told you at the beginning of the show the next two weeks don’t matter as they set up to big title matches for the next April 11 in Corpus Christi, Texas. When you go ahead and say a title match is coming in two weeks the audience already checks out of what you’re saying because you’re basically telling them to tune out because the next few weeks really does not matter.

Now, I know with the new pay-per-view schedule that this was going to happen, but I didn’t think they would be so blatant in like a throwaway episode of Impact in the process. »

Monday Night Raw 3/25/13 – The Road to Wrestlemania is long and arduous

26 March 2013 7:16 PM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

Mr Butter Fingers allowed the Urn [Anderson] to hit the floor just as soon as it arrived back in his hands. “I am not just any other man,” he said, juggling the trophy around his legs. “I am Cm Punk and there is nobody in the world that is better than me.” He professed that Taker could ably crush any other wrestler at Wrestlemania… except him. The crowd shared his convcition in spite of their booing. Punk has spent the better part of the last few years carrying the company’s flagship show on his back and although – narratively speaking – it doesn’t seem as if he’s capable of ending the Undertaker’s undefeated streak, he truly deserves to.

So when Undertaker emerged from the darkness to rain down a right hook on Punk, the Best in the World neglected to quiver and shake like a conventional heel is wont to do. »

Tna: Bully Ray Involved In Altercation With Fan

16 March 2013 12:32 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Typical Tna. Not content with rehashing old WWE story lines and hiring all WWE’s ex roster now they’ve got their own version of the Cm Punk fan altercation that occurred a while back.

According to the incident in question took place at the Tna Impact taping in Chicago last night and involved new World Heavyweight Champion and Aces & 8s head honcho Bully Ray and a random fan.

Apparently as Bully and his Aces & 8s teammates made their way out of the arena via the crowd a fan reached out and tried to hit The former Dudley Boy in the face. Atlas Security were quick on the scene and jumped on the fan within seconds of the attempted attack, dragging him from the stands. Once Aces & 8s had left the arena the fan – who remains nameless at this time – was escorted from the building.

Tna Lockdown 2013: Quick thoughts

13 March 2013 4:45 PM, PDT | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

One of the major talking points this week stems from the ending to Sunday’s Tna Lockdown PPV, which featured a less-than-shocking heel turn for Bully Ray as he reunited with his brother Devon inside the Aces & Eights stable. The Chicago crowd jeered and threw trash in the ring, the majority of them hopefully incensed beyond a kayfabe obligation.

Whether the former Team 3D wrestler will prove to be a credible champion remains to be seen, though fans now await with trepidation the terrifying possibility of Ray stepping into the ring with a vengeful albeit haggard Hulk Hogan. Wrestling audiences worldwide should pray this does not transpire.

Hardy or Ray: whoever won the contest, not everyone would have been satisfied. Indeed, both wrestlers have now completed the turn to emulate Hogan’s once great swerve to join the Nwo at Bash at the Beach 1996. Hardy had his time with Immortal »

Tna: The Evolution Of Bully Ray‏

11 March 2013 1:58 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Mark LoMonaco is as familiar a face in the sport of Wrestling as you’re likely to see. He’s a well travelled veteran of several wrestling companies and is currently occupying a top spot on the Tna Impact Wrestling roster. You’ll know him more as Bully Ray, formerly one half of Team 3D and The Dudley Boyz – perhaps the most successful tag team in the history of professional wrestling.

But just who is he and what’s his story? What’s it taken to get where he is today? What Culture takes a look back at his career and traces the Bully’s path to last night’s PPV main event – perhaps the biggest night of his long career.

Tna Review: 7/3/13

9 March 2013 6:22 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Welcome to the latest installment of Tna Review, as it is time for the go-home show before the Lockdown PPV on Sunday. But, before Tna rolls into San Antonio, it is time for the company to build on the upcoming extravaganza to the fullest extent possible. The main headlines of course revolve around Aces & Eights, and after last week’s announcement of the teams for the signature Lethal Lockdown match, will the sides be colliding only a few days before the PPV? Also, with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line between Jeff Hardy and his challenger Bully Ray, will some tension begin to form over the apparent respect that the two competitors have for each other? The title match could use a little antagonism in order to ensure that the main event will be everything that it can possibly be at Lockdown.

Before continuing with the main narrative though, »

Tna Impact Review – 28/2/13

3 March 2013 12:06 PM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Welcome to this week’s Tna Review, unfortunately one day late due to an epic six-and-a-half hour game of Risk (for anybody interested, I won). But, let’s get down to business, as quite a great deal is expected to occur this week in the build-up to the Lockdown PPV. As the show is emanating once again from the Impact Zone following their British vacation, we will probably see the re-emergence of the World Champion Jeff Hardy, who was absent throughout the whole tour due to injury and his poor criminal record. What will he have to say about the injuries that he sustained at the hands of Aces & Eights four weeks prior, and also about the new threat to his World Championship in the form of Bully Ray-Hogan.

Speaking of Bully Ray, he was subjected to witnessing his father-in-law, General Manager Hulk Hogan, and his mentor and hero »

Tna Weekly Review: 21/2/13

22 February 2013 8:22 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Once again we make the return to the Impact Zone, and what do we have in store on the road towards Lockdown on March 10.  It is the final night in the UK, and hopefully Tna will leave it in style with their own brand of quality wrestling and storytelling. Tonight will see more championship action for the lucky British fans, as Rob Van Dam defends his X Division Championship against the supremely confident Kenny King, and Tara has her back against the wall when she has to defend her Tna Knockouts’ Championship against three hungry challengers, namely Gail Kim, Brooke Tessmacher and Velvet Sky, in a four-way elimination match.

In addition to the championship action, we will see if Hulk Hogan finally gets the opportunity to name the Number One Contender for Jeff Hardy’s World Championship, or will he once again be interrupted by the force of Aces & Eights. »

Tna Weekly Review – 14/2/2013

15 February 2013 1:24 PM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

On Valentine’s Day, there certainly is nothing better than inviting your best girl round, opening a nice bottle of champagne, and then watching a hard-hitting episode of Impact Wrestling. This week will see Aces & Eights’ response to their defeat at the hands of Bully Ray-Hogan and Sting in tag team tables action. How will they seek retribution, and could it have anything to do with the upcoming Lockdown PPV?

Furthermore, Hulk Hogan announced that there would be a tournament to determine the next challenger to Jeff Hardy for the World Championship, as eight of Impact Wrestling’s very best will go one-on-one to determine who will be the new No.1 Contender. With matches such as Kurt Angle vs. Samoa Joe and a match between the new Tna Tag Team Champions scheduled, it should be a wild night of fantastic wrestling back once again in jolly old England. So without further ado, »
