WWE: 4 Superstars To Look Out For In 2013

18 December 2012 12:24 PM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

This past year can’t claim to be one of the greatest in WWE history. It has been fairly bland in approach and execution but to its credit, there have been some seriously surprising stand out achievements placed in the past 365 days. Raw 1000 obviously, Big Show finally showing some true character, Cm Punk being the champion for its entirety and for John Cena not winning a belt for an entire calendar year. That in itself is pretty huge.

But most importantly for the future of the ‘E is the talent they have pushed and introduced us to who will go on to be staples in the company for years to come. WWE is going through a transitional stage at this time. Some of its bigger stars have left or become stale and its WWE’s own fault that a yearlong transition has been required. Their lack of pushing and scouting »

Tna No Surrender PPV Predictions and Preview

9 September 2012 2:32 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

The eighth annual Tna Impact Wrestling No Surrender PPV rolls in to the Impact Zone tonight with a card stacked to prepare for Bound For Glory. A PPV with no world title match and a champion who isn’t in the main event shows just how important it is(n’t) to the guys in Florida. So why exactly should we care? Well there’s actually a few matches on the card with great potential – let’s just hope they manage to deliver after a relatively consistent run of great events in 2012.

So let’s have a look into our magic 8 ball and see how this one’s going to pan out.

Zema Ion Vs Sonjay Dutt – X Division Title Match

Sonjay Dutt was a Tna regular for years but never really made much of an impact until he started stalking So Cal Val. Shortly after that he disappeared only »

Austin Aries Is The New Tna World Champion!

14 July 2012 12:07 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

No it isn’t a misprint or a communication error. It’s not a hoax or a prank. Blink once, blink twice, rub your eyes if you have to (gently of course). Now look at the headline again. Are you smiling? You should be.

At Destination X the 34 year old realised a life long dream and shook the professional wrestling world to its very core. Not just because he beat Bobby Roode, the man with the longest Tna World Championship reign in history, but because of who he is and how he did it. It has long been considered amongst Wrestling fans that if you want to watch the modern day product you are going to have to put up with a lot of pain with not much joy in return. Gone are the days, it seems, that wrestling takes priority over selling merchandise to children or telling people who or what is trending worldwide. »

Rebuilding Tna: A Look At Tna Impact Wrestling Roster

12 July 2012 7:01 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

As a writer who tends to specialise in wrestling I am often criticised by fellow fans for my often derogatory remarks about Tna Impact Wrestling. But you see, I don’t hate Tna – quite the contrary. I want Tna to succede. I want Tna to be a legitimate threat to the WWE. I want wrestlers to consider who’s better to work for when there WWE contract ends rather than just staying with Vince and co just for the money or heading to Tampa for a lighter working schedule. There should be more to it than that. Wrestlers should have more choices. It’s just a shame that I can remember when Tna was part of the Nwa and made some really unmissabel television – especially with its X Division.

So I’ve decided to have a look at the Tna roster and to decide upon a workable structure that can »

Jesse Sorensen: Tna’s Future Break-Out Star?

25 June 2012 1:05 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Jesse Sorensen. A man, who was able to become a crowd-favorite within the Tna roster in a very short time. With not only his lovable character, Sorensen has great in-ring ability, great chemistry with the other X-Division athletes, great speed and quickness, and overall is a great athlete and wrestler.

Sorensen has a lot of potential without question but does he have all that it takes to become Tna’s new break-out star?

First let’s get to know Sorensen shall we?

Jessy Ryan Sorensen was born on April 1, 1989, and is currently signed to Tna. Sorensen would start to wrestle in 2008, wrestling all over the Texas Indy circuit as Ryan Sorensen. Tna would take notice of Sorensen in 2011, and put him in the X-Division Showcase Tournament.

Sorensen, who was going by the name Jesse Sorensen at this point in his career, would lose to Jack Evans in a three-way match also featuring Anthony Nese. »

Tna Slammiversary Results – Bobby Roode Defeats Sting, James Storm Returns

10 June 2012 9:14 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Tna Slammiversary pay-per-view was held last night from the University of Texas in Arlington and we have the results below;

Tna World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode defeated Sting to retain his title when he used a beer battle that James Storm had left at ringside and bashed Tna’s first Hall of Fame inductee over the head with it. Sting beat-down Roode after the match and hit him with a Scorpion Death Drop off the entrance ramp.

Miss Tessmacher defeated Gail Kim to become the Tna Women’s Knockout Champion. This title changed ended Kim’s record 210-day run as champion. Christy Hemme appeared after the match to interview the new champion and Brooke called her victory “truly epic” and said, “God Bless America”.

Mr. Anderson defeated Jeff Hardy and Rob Van Dam to become the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title. Anderson will take on Bobby Roode for the »

Tna Slammiversary PPV Predictions & Preview

9 June 2012 2:37 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Imagine if there was no WWE. Imagine if business had taken a nosedive after Vince McMahon bought out Ecw and WCW and he’d had to sell up. Seems unlikely doesn’t it, but just imagine. No John Cena. No Monday Night Raw. No Wrestlemania. That’s right – with no Wrestlemania to look forward to the biggest event on the wrestling calendar would be presented by Tna Impact Wrestling. The biggest PPV of the year would be Slammiversary. Just imagine.

So with that in mind, let’s take a look at what Tna has to offer for this Sunday’s live event.

Hernandez Vs Kid Kash

I haven’t been watching a lot of Tna’s programming recently so I have to say I’m oblivious to why this match is taking place. I would assume it’s because Kid Kash is a) awesome and b) a ‘veteran’ from Tna’s past. »

Austin Aries Signs New Contract With Tna

20 May 2012 8:38 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Current Tna X Division champion Austin Aries has announced on his Twitter account that he has re-signed with the company.

Aries returned to Tna last year as part of an X Division angle and has remained a staple of the division ever since. Most recently the charismatic anti-hero has been feuding with mega heel Bully Ray and the two put on one of the best matches of 2012 at the recent Sacrifice PPV.

Tna President Dixie Carter has also stated that she is “very proud to have re-signed (Aries), and is very proud of him”.

Where Aries goes from here is anybody’s guess. He has proved very popular amongst the Tna Impact Wrestling fan base and has excelled himself as both a heel and a babyface. In a company where smaller athletes have been known to receive main event pushes (Aj Styles, Christian Cage) could there be more titles in Aries future? »

WWE Tag Teams: The Good, The Bad & The Underrated

17 April 2012 3:00 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Impact wrestling is currently advertising the return of its most exciting tag team the Motorcity Machine Guns.  But who are they actually going to wrestle when they return?  Team 3D are long gone.  Beer Money are feuding with each other.  Morgan and Crimson have gone kaput.  Ok, there’s the obvious choice of tag team champions Samoa Joe and Magnus but should they really be entered into a top feud right off the bat? This only goes to highlight the distinct lack of depth in tag team wrestling as a whole.  Tna once had an amazing tag division that helped set it apart from the new champs every week approach of the WWE, but these days they too have seemingly given up the ghost.

It hasn’t always been like this though.  Tag teams were once held with great esteem in the business we love, and the tag titles were »

Tna Impact! Wrestling – March 22nd Review

26 March 2012 2:07 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

This week, we had to get the fallout from Bobby Roode threatening the health of Dixie Carter after beating Sting at Victory Road. If only she’d used the ample time she had to get out of the ring to her advantage. And so Dixie joined us to open the show. Dixie made out like she was going to fire the champ, but Sting came out and claimed firing him was letting him off easy. Sting then said that his position as leader was just not working. So he said hes coming back as a wrestler to fight for Dixie and step down as General Manager. He did however promise that he had someone to take the company right to the top. Sting asked Dixie to let him give him the power to the Real Hulk Hogan. Dixie did her best to act conflicted. Later on in the show, in the main event slot, »

Wrestlemania 28 Countdown: Top 10 Wrestlemania Matches of All-Time

25 March 2012 6:24 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Just making the card of wrestlemania is enough to fulfil the dreams of some of the members of the wwe roster but then there are others who aim a little higher to pursue a coveted wrestlemania moment and to steal the show with their match on the grandest stage of them all. It is the grandstand wrestling event where the likes of  Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock watched childhood heroes such as Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage engage in combat and where today’s main eventers such as Cm Punk and The Miz were captivated in turn by the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock.

With so much desire in the air it is perhaps not surprising to discover that Wrestlemania has been responsible for numerous great matches, many of which had to be sacrificed for this elite list but what follows is simply my »

Tna Impact Victory Road Review – Sting vs Bobby Roode

19 March 2012 1:12 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Tna have gone off the Twitter deep end. Last night’s Victory Road event was a near 3-hour advert for Social Networking. The usual trending topics flashed up on screen, but it didn’t end there. We had a Victory Road hash tag banner, Tweets displayed on the screen backstage that Jeremy Borash asked questions from, a tweet during a competitive match (by Austin Aries) and to top it all off, the commentators did Not Stop talking about it all night. They completely ignored the flow of the match and the calling of moves to instead read out generic tweets from @Velvetskysknockers or whomever they could find that had something positive to say about their show. I shouldn’t be mentioning Twitter first Ever in a wrestling review, but it really was That overpowering. It was enough to make me want to mute my TV, and I haven’t done »

Tna Victory Road 2012 Preview & Predictions

18 March 2012 4:33 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Yes folks, it’s Tna PPV time again and we’ve had a look into our crystal ball to see who will be upsetting who and who has all the gold when the dust has settled.

Over the last few months we’ve seen the slow build of Robert Roode as a legit heel World Champion despite knowing in our heart of hearts that he’s only carrying the title while Tna build James Storm into the new Super-Face of the company.  In the meantime he’s been feuding with on-air authority figure Sting, which leads us into yet another PPV main event starring a wrestler way beyond his prime despite a full roster of young talent that could put on a show stealing performance.

Robbie E and his TV Title Open Challenge.

I can’t believe Robbie E still has a job, or at least this horrendous gimmick.  He »

Tna Impact Wrestling Review 8/3/12 – New Abyss’ Brother Storyline

12 March 2012 12:41 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Impact Wrestling – March 8th 2012

This weeks opening segment revolved around the Garrett Bischoff lightning push. Imagine how much someone who’s last name wasn’t Bischoff could benefit from getting a rub from both Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan at once. Garrett showed up despite being warned not to, just to show how brave he is. Kurt Angle made himself available as a partner for Gunner to face Garrett and a partner of his choosing, his reason being that he always respected his parents and that led him to a gold medal. “Immortal” bragged that Garrett would be on his own in the main event against both. But who would possibly team up with such a rookie? Maybe someone who has a problem with Kurt Angle? Of course it turned out to be Jeff Hardy, who has taken his face paint to a whole other idiot level this week again. »

Tna Review 24/2/12 – Sting is Done?

25 February 2012 12:45 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Impact Wrestling – Feb 24th 2012

The “Insane Icon,” is “Done.”

The most hyped story this week was Sting saying On Twitter that he was “Done.” Not via Tna TV or anything, Via Twitter. Because that’s how professionals deal with major announcements these days. Robert Roode announced early in the show that Sting was going to appear. Thing is that since they announced Roode’s title match against Storm was going to be at the PPV in April rather than the next one in March, they made it a bit obvious that something was going to go down at Victory Road in March. Otherwise why wouldn’t the title match just happen at Victory Road?

In the closing segment Sting came out as promised to address the Tweet that shook the world. Roode made his second appearance of the night to interrupt. Sting immediately converted over to Whacky Insane Icon Sting »

Tna Impact Wrestling Review 15/02/12

19 February 2012 11:14 PM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Impact Wrestling – Feb 15th 2012

Bobby Roode retained successfully at Against All Odds so he rightfully was the main focus of the show this week. Although you have to question why he made Christy introduce him twice, he must be a glutton for punishment. He also rightfully pointed out that it’s Sting’s own fault he is still champion. The “Insane Icon” didn’t like this and so hit the ring and put him in a No Dq, No Time Limit match against Jeff Hardy in the first match. Is anyone still drug testing Jeff? Only someone on drugs could devise such terrible entrances and face paint every week. Either way, they had a decent opening match which even had a few spots around the stage and ramp. Hardy was all over Roode for the majority, and only lost when Kurt Angle made a return and threw Jeff into the steps. »

Tna Against All Odds Recap

12th February 2012

Live From The Impact! Zone

Backstage the annoying cameraman tries to talk to Jeff Hardy but he just smirks and walks on. Rude. Following that, the opening video packages focuses on the World Title match and how important Hogan thinks the company is. It is a Vegas themed logo but that’s about as far as the theme gets. No Tazz tonight as he is dealing with a family death, so we have Tenay and Borash on the headsets.

#1 Contender’s Match to the X Division Title

Zema Ion vs. Jesse Sorensen

All that hairspray is bad for the environment Zema. Matt Morgan is not the only one with a “Carbon Footprint.” Jesse carries his football as always in this battle of the entrance props. He give his to a kid at ringside cause he’s that kind of guy. Zema gets in »

Tna Impact UK Invasion Review 9th February 2012

Tna Impact! February 9th 2012!

The UK “Invasion” continues, with a cross promotional opening video package with Star Wars. Because Garrett vs. Eric is just like Luke vs. Vader. Never does a week go past that Tna doesn’t surprise me. Last weeks crowd in the UK made the show seem ten times more important, so lets hope for more of the same on Tna Star Wars Night in association with Episode One in 3D.

First out is Jabba the Hutt. Or Bully Ray as hes known. Bully doesn’t want to talk to Anyone but his “Close, personal friend” Bobby Roode and he’s clearly pissed with him. Roode obliges and Ray meets him in the ramp to shout at him. “Where the hell have you been for Me!?” Crowd are all over both of them as Bully wants to know why he doesn’t have his back. “You’ve »

Hogan Rewards Brave Grandmother With Wrestling Tickets

29 January 2012 3:06 PM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Hulk Hogan made one elderly wrestling fan's dreams come true after inviting her to a bout in England - and using her walking stick to thrash his opponent.

Marion Duncan, 83, hit headlines in the U.K. last October after using her cane to scare off an intruder she caught stealing from her bedroom in Aberdeen, Scotland - and she credited Hogan with inspiring her brave act.

The wrestler was delighted to hear of Duncan's courage and rewarded her on his Tna Impact Wrestling tour of the U.K. - he gave her front-row tickets to see him grapple in Manchester on Friday.

Duncan admits she was thrilled to meet her hero, and was stunned when he borrowed her cane to bash his rival Bully Ray in the ring.

She says, "I loved Hulk before I met him but I love him even more now. I don't think I'll wash my cheek for a couple of weeks and hopefully his kiss will stay there. Hulk was a true gentleman and made the night unforgettable." »

Sting Injured At Tna Impact Tapings

28 January 2012 11:11 PM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Tna legend Sting has reportedly suffered a legit injury at Saturday night’s Tna Wrestling tapings from the UK, to screen February 6th as the go-home Impact.

LordsofPain.net have a report from the event;

“In a match for the Feb 9th go-home Impact, it was Sting & Storm over Roode & Ray. Sting blew out his heel in an innocuous looking spot. Sting made Roode submit in the scorpion for the finish, then ref Brian Hebner did the X sign with his arms and sprinted down the aisle to the back to get help. Sting did a brief promo praising the fans, then said he’d heard something pop in his heel. Sting then brawled very gingerly with Bully Ray to the back, scuppering what appeared to be a Hogan & Sting & Storm vs Roode & Ray & Angle dark match. Instead, Hogan & Storm did a 2 on 3 cleaning house, before the Hogan pose down. »
