Get ready to head back into…the Danger Zone! Now with a successfully funded acoustic living room performance from Kenny Loggins! One of the most consistently hilarious and unpredictable comedies on television returns in the new year with its sixth season, and the next go around of Archer’s sex-crazed spy shenanigans looks to be a return to form after a fifth batch of episodes which saw the espionage agency branching out to, erm, head to Miami and become drug dealers ala whatever that eighties TV show was called, rebranding the show Archer Vice.
After the climactic end to that left turn everything looks to be getting back to normal…or, well, as normal as a show that has a strange obsession with ocelots and a perverted Hitler clone amongst its supporting cast can get. Archer’s sixth season premiers on FX January 8th next year, but if that »

Ronald D. Moore's Battlestar Galactica series just got a little bit more awesome today with a video edit that features scenes from the series mixed with music from the classic 1986 film Top Gun. The result is just freakin' cool and worth five minutes of your time, especially if you're a fan of either of these properties. The video is called "Top Gun Galactica," and it was edited together by Nick Acosta, who explains what he wanted to accomplish with it,
"For my latest project, I recut one of my all time favorite movies to one of my all time favorite TV series. For part one of this film I wanted to show the life of a fighter pilot aboard a carrier at war. Much like a fireman, fighter pilots can be called at any moment and have to spring into action. Starbuck and Maverick are roughly the same character. »

Fans of the hilarious FX spy comedy Archer are counting down the days until the sixth season arrives sometime next January, but now they can add another major event to their calendars. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will be sending Archer: The Complete Season Five, also known as Archer Vice, to home media platforms on January 6th, 2015.
The official description of the season should give you an idea of just how insane the spies at the center of the series got this past year:
Join suave super-spy Sterling Archer and his fellow covert government operatives for more irreverent adventures across the globe. With an overabundance of cocaine at their disposal, the team forms a cartel and sets out to sell the drug. As this dubious new venture speeds into hilarious motion, the team deals with addiction, Cheryl’s turn as a country singer, an FBI bust, »

Having tried their hands at cocaine dealing and/or country singing in last season's Archer Vice adventures, the Archer crew will get back to doing the thing what they do best (or, possibly, worst) when the animated FX show returns in January: spying. But how have Sterling, Lana, Pam, and the rest of the team been spending their downtime? The answer is revealed in the new season-six music video teaser which you can exclusively see below. (Wait, I had something for the end of this paragraph—probably related to Kenny Loggins. God-dammit.) Regardless: enjoy. »

Week Three saw The X Factor contestants perform famous songs from the long and glorious history of the movies.
Digital Spy rounds up what Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Mel B and Louis Walsh had to say about Saturday night's (October 25) acts - and if you missed the show, you can catch up with all the performances below, too:
Louis: "You probably should have spent more time in the studio than the gym."
Simon: "If you do last another week, and I think that's unlikely after that, you need to get better at singing. I'm disappointed for you."
Mel B: "I really really like that song. I thought you did a great job. I would have liked to have heard a few more harmonies, »
And The X Factor title goes to...
Nope, we've not got that far yet. Still another couple of months to go - but Saturday night is Movie Night on ITV's primetime reality TV juggernaut.
So dust off your gladrags, order in the popcorn and stop trying to work out which member of Stereo Kicks is which for a moment - because tomorrow night's song choices are in. There's power ballads aplenty, so expect more key changes than a Westlife album.
Which young hopeful will be hoping to meet the challenge of his rivals, who wants you to 'Listen' to them and which soloist has the unenviable task of singing a track originally performed by four artists? Find out below...

The clunky script and amateurish performances are not unexpected in the faith-based genre, but its dubious “inspiration” gives even diehard-atheist me pause. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing
I’m “biast” (con): not a fan of “faith-based” films
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
If I was a faith-based sort of person, I’d be pretty annoyed at the sorts of movies I’m supposed to embrace simply because characters in them pray and stuff. And then 23 Blast would make me extra angry, because not only is it defined primarily by its clunky script and amateurish performances — which is, alas, not unexpected in the faith-based genre — but it also features some dubious instances of “inspiration” that gave even diehard-atheist me pause.
This is the true story of Kentucky high-school footballer Travis Freeman (Mark Hapka), who is struck blind literally overnight by an infection that destroys his »

First potato salad, now an album made entirely of cat sounds: The ideas behind high-profile crowdfunding projects are sounding more and more like a game of Mad Libs. Some background: Killer Mike and El-p, who make music together as the hip-hop duo Run the Jewels, joked in September about releasing a special edition of their next album that replaces all their beats with cat sounds. Then a Kickstarter user created a campaign to turn the joke into a reality. Soon, musicians like Zola Jesus, Boots, Just Blaze, and more clambered to contribute to Meow the Jewels. As goofy as the project is, »

Born in Everett, Washington, the American recording artist Kenneth Clark “Kenny” Loggins spent most of the 1980s creating music that became synonymous with the films they were featured in, like “Footloose” from Footloose or “Danger Zone” from Top Gun. He doesn’t really do this anymore, but he still makes music: This month, a Kickstarter for Loggins and his band, Blue Sky Riders, met its funding goal for a new studio album.
One of the reward milestones for supporters who would donate an undisclosed amount of more than $10,000 (the actual amount would vary based on logistics) was a private concert. »

Sofia Vergara cut loose - footloose - on the dance floor at HBO's post-Emmys party. "We always try to find out where Sofia's going 'cause that's where the dance party is," her Modern Family costar Jesse Tyler Ferguson told People on the Emmy Awards red carpet. The actress didn't disappoint, joining outstanding-choreography nominee Derek Hough for a turn around the floor set to Kenny Loggins's "Footloose." The Dancing with the Stars pro didn't hold back, twirling Vergara, 42, around and around, picking her up and spinning her while the crowd looked on and cheered. Check out a video of the pair dancing below. »

Time to call Kenny Loggins! The Penguins Of Madagascar are headed for the Dangerzone. Ok, my shitty soundtrack reference aside, I always felt the best thing about the Madagascar movies was the penguins. They had attitude, they had balls (as penguins go) and they had tones of personality. The trailer for their first solo outing is genuinely hilarious with more than enough funny to convince you to buy tickets right now! Check it out below and prepare for laughter! Watch your back Kenny Loggins ... Kevin Bacon performed the "Footloose" theme song on Sunday -- pretty awesomely we might add.Bacon -- who's the subject of a recurring joke in "Guardians of the Galaxy" -- and his brothers were jamming at the Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte, Nc when they busted out an acoustic rendition of the 1984 hit song. Not many people in the audience ... but that didn't stop the Bacon boys from putting on a solid show. »

The emotional disconnect between a soldier's perception of reality and reality itself is the subject of this documentary, which finds drama in evenhanded storytelling that is the inverse of its characters' emotional shakiness.
The subjects are ignominious members of an Army platoon that, during the Afghanistan War, murdered three Afghani civilians for sport. Crucially, not all of the vilified soldiers deserved their shaming -- one, Specialist Adam Winfield, attempted to blow the whistle on the behavior, and it's Winfield's fate that most concerns Krauss.
Winfield attempted to alert authorities without b »
We've only recently begun dusting off the Best Original Song contenders section and filling it out with prospective players in the upcoming Oscar race (though the ranking is arbitrary for the moment). You can bet the wonderful "Lost Stars" from "Begin Again" will be a force, and I imagine Stephen Sondheim's original offerings for "Into the Woods" will be in play, too. But another song that deserves to be in the thick of it is "Land Ho!," Keegan DeWitt's title track from Martha Stephens and Aaron Katz's Sundance sensation. Inspired by songs like Go West's "The King of Wishful Thinking," Fine Young Cannibals' "She Drives Me Crazy" and Terence Trent D'Arby's "Wishing Well," as well as films like "Planes, Trains and Automobiles," DeWitt set out to craft something that felt of another time. It's tongue-in-cheek, but it still gets at the heart of the movie, »

Were you aware that the penguins of popular movie franchise Madagascar have their own television series? They do. It’s called The Penguins of Madagascar. Moreover, were you also aware that those profitable penguins are getting their own movie spin-off? It’s called The Penguins of Madagascar, so I guess there’s something to be said for familiarity when it comes to marketing. Even if you’re not familiar with the cottage industry that is the penguins (of Madagascar), perhaps you remember them from the Madagascar films? Snuggled in alongside BenStillerLion, ChrisRockZebra, DavidSchwimmerGiraffe and JadaPinkettSmithHippo, the four penguins (of Madagascar) are some tough-talking troublemakers who are very good at sticking together and even better at not being effected by climate change. There are four penguins (of Madagascar), and they all have fun, punchy names, like Skipper, Rico, Kowalski and Private. In their animated television series, the four penguins all live at the Central Park Zoo (yes, the »

Whether they're waddling across Antarctica in "March of the Penguins" or dancing their tail feathers off in "Happy Feet," penguins are always a crowd-pleaser. After years of toiling away on TV, the penguins from the "Madagascar" series of movies finally have their own theatrical feature coming in November, appropriately titled "The Penguins of Madagascar. "
Skipper (Tom McGrath), Kowalski (Chris Miller), Rico (John Dimaggio) and Private (Christopher Knights) join forces with a super-secret animal organization called North Wind to fight a many-tentacled menace named Dave, an octopus who has made it his mission to kill off all the penguins. We knew there was a reason why those deep sea creatures have always creeped us out! (Naturally, Dave is voiced by John Malkovich.) North Wind's leader, Classified, is voiced by none other than Benedict Cumberbatch; he's joined by Ken Jeong, Annet Mahendru, and Peter Stormare as the voices behind North Wind.
