Trailer Tracking: ‘Wanderlust,’ ‘Safe House,’ ‘This Means War,’ More

8 November 2011 8:16 AM, PST | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – Now that we’re so close to the holiday season, it means that the whole movie trailer landscape has changed yet again. We’ve spent the last three months watching the previews for the Christmas season blockbusters and the end-of-the-year Oscar hopefuls nonstop. Now that their pre-release marketing window is shrinking to a close, we’re getting hit with all of the “fun” trailers from the first two months of 2012, the trailers that are supposed to inspire us to shake ourselves out of our post-New Year’s doldrums and get our asses to the multiplex.

So far, from what we’ve seen, it’s a mixed bag. There’s a lot of potential for greatness, for sure, but each of this week’s four new trailers have an equal potential to be epic train wrecks. As always, we hope for the best (yay, a new comedy from the creators »

Universal Released New Jennifer Aniston, ‘Wanderlust’ Movie Trailer Online

4 November 2011 12:02 PM, PDT | OnTheFlix | See recent OnTheFlix news »

Universal released new Jennifer Aniston, 'Wanderlust' movie trailer online. Yesterday afternoon, Universal Pictures released the first movie trailer (below) for their upcoming Jennifer Aniston comedy "Wanderlust," and I must say,it looks pretty funny as Jennifer's character wanders into a nudist colony with her husband for some good times. The movie stars: Paul Rudd, Jennifer Aniston, Justin Theroux, Malin Akerman, Kathryn Hahn, Lauren Ambrose, Ken Marino, Joe Lo Truglio, Kerri Kenney-Silver, and Alan Alda. In the new movie, characters George (Paul Rudd) and Linda (Jennifer Aniston) are a stressed out couple in Manhattan,New York. After George gets laid off from his job, they find themselves with only one option, to move in with George's awful brother in Atlanta. On the way there, George and Linda stumble into a weird town named Elysium, and see a nude guy upon arrival. Elysium ends up possibly being a fresh start for George and Linda, »

Wanderlust Trailer With Paul Rudd & Jennifer Aniston Needs Jolt Of Life

4 November 2011 5:47 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Role Models was a Judd Apatow-lite comedy, a movie that had it’s moments for sure but it didn’t penetrate the sweet spot of emotion that Apatow so frequently finds. The film was directed by David Wain, co-written by Ken Marino and starred Paul Rudd, and now the trio are back for Wanderlust, another R-rated comedy that judging by the first look trailer, again feels like it misses it’s mark. This despite Judd Apatow producing this time round.

Rudd co-stars with Jennifer Aniston as a married couple who have to leave New York City behind and relocate when Rudd’s character loses his job. From there they spend most of their time avoiding hippies and other goofballs on a commune and none of it looks particularly funny. For an R-rated comedy it feels rather harmless and inoffensive (compared say to the hilarious Horrible Bossess… though I guess »

Wanderlust movie trailer and images

Trailer and images for Wanderlust, starring Paul Rudd, Jennifer Aniston and Malin Akerman This one looks like a real stinker, maybe the ending of the trailer is fitting, you'll see what I mean. The Universal Pictures release opens February 24, 2012, and also includes Justin Theroux, Kathryn Hahn, Lauren Ambrose, Ken Marino, Joe Lo Truglio, Kerri Kenney-Silver and Alan Alda. Ken Marino & David Wain wrote the script for the comedy helmed by Wain which is rated R for sexual content, graphic nudity, language and drug use. Both Rudd and Aniston seem monotone for the most part, struggling to star in anything that doesn't flop lately. Rudd's starred in three successive lackluster and annoying films - Dinner for Schmucks, How Do You Know and Our Idiot Brother, and this is set to mark a fourth. Still, maybe The Perks of Being a Wallflower with Rudd »

Wanderlust Trailer Arrives Carry On Up The Commune?

3 November 2011 7:44 PM, PDT | icelebz.com | See recent iCelebz news »

Dropping out of the rat race isn't the newest concept in the world (think Tom and Barbara Good in The Good Life), but it's being given another spin in David Wain's new comedy, Wanderlust. You can take a look at the first trailer below.

Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston star as George and Linda, a couple of high-flying New Yorkers who suddenly find themselves having to downshift when he's fired. They try moving to Atlanta, where George's obnoxious brother (Ken Marino) has offered him a job. But when that doesn't work out, they go driving around the country, eventually ending up in error at the Elysium commune. And that's when the trouble really starts.

It's a regular trailer, so we're honestly more interested to see what Wain and co can shove into any likely Red Band release, but there are a few chuckles here. And he has definitely recruited a good comedy cast, »

Trailer for David Wain’s ‘Wanderlust’ is One Big ‘The State’ Reunion on a Commune

3 November 2011 3:37 PM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Watching the trailer for Wanderlust – the new movie directed by Wet Hot American Summer director David Wain – makes me want to watch every episode of The State all over again. In short, I wanna dip my balls in it. Starring Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston as rat-racers in New York who have to leave the race and find themselves learning the communal life, the trailer looks knock-down, drag-out hilarious. Some great gags from some truly disturbed/gifted comic minds are on display here. Check it out for yourself, and see how many State alumni you can spot: There’s Wain behind the camera of course, and there’s Joe Lo Truglio, Kerri Kenney, Ken Marino (trying to dip his balls into Aniston’s character), and with any luck, Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon will make their way onto the screen as well. At any rate, it »

Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston Escape to a Hippy Compound in Trailer for 'Wanderlust'

3 November 2011 2:06 PM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

David Wain last directed the excellent comedy Role Models and he has teamed once again with Paul Rudd and this time instead of Seann William Scott he's brought along Jennifer Aniston for Wanderlust which Universal has set for a February 24, 2012 release. The film was actually supposed to be in theaters already as Universal originally set an October 7, 2011 release, but things happen and I guess competing against Dirty Girl, The Ides of March and Real Steel just wasn't as appealing as butting heads with Summit's Gone and Tyler Perry's Good Deeds. Wanderlust centers on a New York City couple that has to move to Atlanta after he gets fired. However, time in Atlanta isn't so hot so the two head out and ultiamtely stumble upon Elysium, an idyllic community populated by colorful characters who embrace a different way of looking at things. Money? It can't buy happiness. Careers? Who needs them? »

First Trailer for Wanderlust Starring Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston [Updated with New Images]

3 November 2011 1:20 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

The trailer for David Wain's Wanderlust has gone online.  The movie focuses on Manhattan couple George and Linda (Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston) who are forced to move to Atlanta when George loses his job.  Moving to Atlanta is apparently a fate so terrible that it causes Aniston to scream at the heavens.  The two then move around to various locations until they land on a commune and start to feel renewed.  It looks like For Better or Worse or Did You Hear About the Morgans? if either of those movies were funny.  Wain delivered a great little gem with Role Models and it's tough to go wrong when you throw in The State alum like Ken Marino and Joe Lo Truglio.  There's a bunch of great jokes in the trailer, and it isn't even a red-band version.  Color me excited for this flick. Hit the jump to check out the trailer. »

‘Wanderlust’ Trailer – Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston Take A Trip

3 November 2011 1:15 PM, PDT | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

The answer is "yes," Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston have been in a movie together before. It's called The Object of My Affection, which was released in 1998. The reason you kind of remembered it existed is that it's forgettable. Wanderlust doesn't look forgettable at all. This film is directed by David Wain (Role Models, Wet Hot American Summer) and features the actors on a life affirming journey out of New York City eventually ending up at a very laid back commune filled with colorful characters played by Malin Akerman, Justin Theroux, Joe Lo Truglio and Alan Alda. Does it sound cheesy? The answer, again, is "yes." But this first trailer really makes the film look like it'll rise above that. Check it out after the jump. Thanks to Yahoo Movies [1]for the trailer. If you're like me, the initial cast and description of the film left you feeling skeptical. However, »

Free Agents: Cancelled

6 October 2011 12:17 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Hank Azaria's cancellation suspicions were correct. Last night's episode of Free Agents didn't fare any better in the ratings and NBC has now cancelled the sitcom after four episodes.

In the TV series, Alex (Hank Azaria) is newly divorced and trying to keep himself together. Alex's co-worker Helen (Kathryn Hahn) drinks too much because she's trying to cope with her fiance Pete's untimely passing. The two overworked public relations executives share an ill-fated night of passion and are forced to cope with the awkward aftermath. While Alex and Helen try to figure out their lives and potential relationship, their co-workers at the PR firm of Hale Dayton Associates try to do anything to get them back into the dating game. Others in the show include Anthony Head, Mo Mandel, Al Madrigal, Natasha Leggero, and Joe Lo Truglio.

Free Agents Review: "Pilot" (Episode 1.01)

Free Agents arrives with a good pedigree. It’s overseen by Party Down co-creator and Veronica Mars writer John Enbom, and features a core of talented and likable actors in Hank Azaria, Kathryn Hahn (Step-Brothers, Our Idiot Brother), Joe Lo Truglio (The State, Superbad), and Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). TV Review: Free Agents U.S. – Playful, Witty Romp With Likeable Leads

15 September 2011 7:51 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

The British version of Free Agents slipped under my radar so I came to the first episode of the American remake with no preconceived notions of what to expect, and I’m happy to report that as the credits rolled at the end of the show I was left feeling like I’d been more than adequately entertained.

Ok, so I may be a little bit biased, as any show that features the fantastic Eli ‘Paperboy’ Reed singing the theme tune will automatically have a place in my affections, but even the most hard-hearted reviewer would struggle to deny that Free Agents has an energy and charm that recommends further viewings.

The programme opens with its two central characters, Hank Azaria’s Alex and Kathryn Hahn’s Helen, lying in Helen’s bed after sleeping together for the first time. Recently divorced Alex then promptly bursts »

'Free Agents' - 'Pilot': Strange bedfellows

14 September 2011 8:00 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

I posted my review of NBC's "Free Agents" yesterday. Now it's your turn. For those of you who watched, what did you think? If you're familiar with the UK version, did you find this a step up or down? (And did you miss all the profanity?)  As I said yesterday, I was not really a fan of the pilot (though I laughed at Joe Lo Truglio's line about Nixon, and smiled at the Ricky Sargulesh reference), but am trying to put faith in John Enbom and company. Will you do the same?  »

TV Review: Neurotic, Annoying Characters Sink ‘Free Agents’

14 September 2011 10:13 AM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – Sitcoms need likable characters. We have to want to spend time with people to laugh at their insights or behavior (a lesson that the writers of “Entourage” forgot somewhere along the way) and comedies with people that are more annoying than humorous never last. Look no further than tonight’s debut of the awful “Free Agents,” a new NBC comedy with excellent actors given nothing entertaining to do.

TV Rating: 1.0/5.0

Perhaps something was lost in translation but this new series based on a hit U.K. program simply fails on every level. “Free Agents” want to be part romantic comedy and part workplace sitcom but falls flat as both. One of the biggest problems with the show is a complete lack of chemistry between Alex (Hank Azaria) and Helen (Kathryn Hahn), two co-workers who recently jumped into bed together. They don’t get along at work or really in life either, »

'Free Agents' review: Solid parts don't make a up a whole quite yet

13 September 2011 11:41 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"Free Agents" doesn't take the usual will they-or-won't they approach to romantic comedy. It's got a solid cast led by comedy veterans Hank Azaria, Kathryn Hahn and Anthony Head. Its creator was part of the team behind one of the funniest TV comedies of the past decade.

So, a less-traveled take on a familiar genre, good cast and good auspices should add up to a strong show, right? You would think.

Despite all that it would seem to have going for it, "Free Agents," which debuts Wednesday (Sept. 14) on NBC, ends up being less than the sum of its parts. It's a show I would really like to like, and there are elements present in the pilot that make me want to see how it's doing by, say, episode four or five, but it's not there yet.

Azaria ("The Simpsons," "Huff") and Hahn ("Crossing Jordan," "Step Brothers") play co-workers at a PR firm. »
