‘What If…?’ Season 2 recently introduced two original superheroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Atahraks and Kahhori, Mohawk Tribe heroes who gained their powers through a chance encounter with the Space Stone in their alternative reality.
Episode 6 unveiled the intriguing concept of the Sky World, accessible through the “Forbidden Lake.” This realm is home to unique flora and fauna, seemingly unrelated to Earth, with a celestial backdrop suggesting it exists far from our planet. Time operates differently in the Sky World, inhabited by immortal Mohawk Tribe members infused with the Space Stone’s energy, making it a captivating concept.
By the episode’s end, Atahraks and Kahhori engage in a conflict against the Spanish Crown, initially seeking peace but interrupted by the unexpected intervention of Strange Supreme, who had different plans for them during negotiations.

‘What If…?’ a popular animated show, recently introduced two brand new and original superheroes to the MCU, Atahraks and Kahhori, Mohawk Tribe superheroes that got their powers through interactions with the Space Stone that was lost on Earth by accident in their alternative reality.
One of the concepts that Episode 6 of ‘What If…?’ season 2 introduced was Sky World, which seems to be a special world accessible only through “Forbidden Lake.” Sky World is inhabited by special types of flora and fauna related to that world, and from the constellations and celestial objects that can be seen in the sky, it doesn’t look like Sky World is near Earth or adjacent to Earth.
In any case, time doesn’t hold much meaning on Sky World as its inhabitants, who primarily belong to the Mohawk Tribe, are immortal and infused with the Space Stone energy that seems to infuse everything in the world.

When Marvel's "What If...?" season 2 premieres later this month, fans will be taking another look at some other pockets of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Like last season, the Watcher (Jeffrey Wright) observes (and sometimes takes part in) some alternate versions of the lives of our villains and heroes. This time around, we're also getting a brand new hero named Kahhori, a First Nations woman of the Mohawk tribe. Kahhori was created for the animated series with a lot of influence and input from the Mohawk people. The episode is done completely in the Mohawk language with subtitles, and the people running the show are very excited about it.
I recently got a chance to watch the first two episodes (neither of which were Kahhori's) of the second season, and attend a Q&a with executive producer Bryan Andrews, writer Matthew Chauncey, and writer and executive producer A.C. Bradley. They spoke...

Marvel’s What If? Is back for a second series on Disney+ this December – and here’s the trailer to prove it…
What If? was a surprising, fun addition to the Marvel canon when it first landed on Disney+, perhaps because the sheer scale of storytelling possibilities is so huge.
Series one featured scenarios as wide ranging as Peggy Carter becoming the First Avenger and T’Challa becoming a Star Lord, to examining what might have happened if artificially-intelligent supervillain Ultron hadn’t been defeated by those pesky Avengers. It doesn’t look like the next run of the show will be pulling its punches either.
Promotion is underway for it now, and we now have a synopsis for the second series. It doesn’t tell us much, but nevertheless reads as follows:
Season 2 of Marvel Studios’ imaginative and captivating “What If…?” series continues the journey as The Watcher guides viewers again through the vast multiverse,...

Marvel's animated Disney+ series What If…? has presented spins on current MCU versions of comic book heroes, but now Season 2 plans to introduce a brand new one. Positing the idea that the Tesseract could have fallen to Earth in the sovereign Haudenosaunee Confederacy before the colonization of America. And led to the creation of brand new hero Kahhori, a young Mohawk woman who goes on a quest to discover her power.
Written by Ryan Little, the episode was created in close collaboration with members of the Mohawk Nation like historian Doug George and Mohawk language expert Cecelia King to ensure cultural authenticity. The episode takes place in the Mohawk language and is informed by the history of the Akwesasne region in what is now upstate New York.

The animated Marvel series "What If...?" for Disney+ is a fascinating concept for fans of the superhero multiverse. Thanks to powers that defy all laws of physics, time, and space, there are endless directions that Marvel could take for any number of their stories. Of course, the events presented in the Marvel Cinematic Universe phases are considered canon, but "What If...?" takes all of the hypothetical questions fans debate amongst one another and bring to life what would have happened had the canonical events taken a different direction. The first season explored theoretical questions like "What if Captain Carter was the first Avenger?" or "What if Killmonger rescued Tony Stark?"
Ahead of its premiere, Marvel has announced "What If...?" season 2 will introduce a brand-new superhero named Kahhori, created specifically for the show. Unlike most of the heroes in the MCU, Kahhori has no comic book origins, which makes her inclusion even more special.

After the long reign of Baby Yoda, a new young alien is set to take Disney+ by storm. The first trailer for “I Am Groot,” the “Guardians of the Galaxy” animated spinoff starring the monosyllabic space hero, has been released out of Marvel Studios Comic-Con animation panel on Friday.
In addition, the panel revealed that after the initial five animated shorts premiere this August, “I Am Groot” will return with additional episodes at a later date.
Initially created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber and Jack Kirby in the 1960s comic book “Tales to Astonish,” Groot (voiced in the MCU by Vin Diesel) is an extraterrestrial space creature noted for his friendly demeanor and gentle disposition. Although highly intelligent, Groot can only say one phrase, “I am Groot,” at any time, though those close to him — particularly his regular partner-in-crime Rocket Raccoon — are capable of understanding the intent behind his words.

Michelle Phan, one of YouTube’s first massive makeup stars, has taken an extended break from her flagship channel for roughly two years due to creative exhaustion and to pursue other entrepreneurial endeavors.
But now, Phan -- who counts 8.9 million subscribers and 1 billion lifetime views -- is back. However, her channel isn’t hosting any of the beauty tutorials that made her a household name. Instead, it is touting a 24-hour music stream titled 24/7 Magic Hour Radio. That stream launched yesterday, Variety reports -- exactly two years after Phan’s last video.
The music stream will serve to promote Thematic -- an upstart that Phan co-founded and is also an investor in. Thematic furnishes an online marketplace where emerging musicians can license their works to video creators. To this end, Phan’s stream -- which she is running without any ads -- will feature hand-picked Thematic artists, she tells Variety,...

Exclusive: Los Angeles-based sales company inks supply deal with Cinedigm.
Andre Relis’ Los Angeles-based sales company Vmi Worldwide, here selling Sundance selection Hellion, continues to push into production and has struck a supply deal with Cinedigm.
The arrangement calls for four or five films a year and will include Opposite Sex and War Pigs, which Ryan Little is set to start shooting in Michigan in autumn.

The Virginian hasn’t been remade in a while, so I guess it’s time. Owen Wister’s novel is perhaps best remembered as the TV series of the same name, which starred James Drury. Other incarnations in 1946 saw Joel McCrea in the title role and in 2000 Bill Pullman took the lead.
Next to fill the saddle will be A Good Day to Die Hard‘s Cole Hauser, who will be joined by Ron Perlman and Jennifer Beals.
The synopsis:
South is the foreman of Sunk Creek Ranch and a feared enforcer for the cattle baron Judge Henry, who took him in after his parents were killed by rustlers. As part of his duties he is to look after a writer from the big city, Owen, who has come out West to research a novel. Owen is appalled at the savagery of the land, in particular the way cattle rustlers are treated.

A competently put-together film about American paratroopers dropped into France after D-Day, but it comes across like a diet-lite Saving Private Ryan
Ten years ago, Canadian director Ryan Little gave us Saints and Soldiers, a modestly conceived, old-fashioned second world war movie about four American soldiers and a British Tommy struggling to rejoin their divisions in hostile territory after escaping the 1944 Malmedy massacre of Us PoWs by the SS during the Battle of the Bulge. Now Little has given us a sequel, with the same wholesome, Christian tinge, about American paratroopers dropped into France after D-Day and in roughly the same perilous situation. Little makes the best of a limited budget, and this is well-acted, especially by his leading man (and star of the previous film), Corbin Allred. But there is something weirdly inert about this film, a kind of diet or lite version of Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan.

It’s been a while since I saw Ryan Little’s surprisingly good 2003 low-budget WWII movie “Saints and Soldiers”, but from just a glance at his filmography, it looks like he’s done well for himself since, with a string of movies to his credit. All that success has, ironically enough, led him back to WWII with “Saints and Soldiers: Airborne Creed”, a pseudo sequel to the 2003 movie. There’s a release date, but I doubt if the film will get too wide of a release. Which is a shame, because the theatrical trailer looks pretty damn good, especially since we’re not talking about “Saving Private Ryan” budgets here. I’ll be shock if Little and company had 1% of what Spielberg had to work with. On August 15, 1944 the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team (Prct) jumped over the south of France. Their mission was to support and protect the Allied Troops marching to Berlin.

Well it’s that time again, time for another installment of Streaming for Your Pleasure. With Memorial Day weekend upon us America is about to officially start the summer. Barbeques, beers, and beaches will surely take up much of our time this weekend, however let us not forget the purpose behind this day as we celebrate the glory that is a three day weekend. In all seriousness it is a time to honor our Veterans and current soldiers for the remarkable sacrifices they make. No matter what political stance you may take I feel that is one thing we can all get behind. With that in mind I dedicated this installment to all things military as I look at military centric films currently available on Netflix Streaming.

Having spent the last year sat in screening rooms and cinemas watching over 200 of 2011′s cinematic offerings, it stands to reason that I’m going to have to sit through a fair share of duds. As I had seen the vast majority of the key Oscar plays before November, I spent the latter part of the year dedicating myself to seeking out the worst, most lowest common denominator fare ripe for a skewering, and with these twenty dreadful pictures, we have what are, in my opinion, the 20 biggest train wrecks of 2011. Note that Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star is still awaiting worldwide DVD release and didn’t get distribution in the U.K., so that’s one that I was forced to avoid, but I’m assured that it’s irredeemably horrible nevertheless. Anyway, on with the list…

Director Ryan Little’s 2003 WWII war film “Saints and Soldiers” is probably the best independently-produced WWII film I’ve ever seen. It’s pretty amazing what Little managed to put on the screen with such limited budget and resources, and if you’ve never seen it, I really do recommend digging it up somewhere. It’s only been 8 years, so it shouldn’t be too hard to still find it on DVD or wherever you go for your movies. Unbeknownst to me, Little has been working on a sequel of sorts, called “Saints and Sinners: Airborne Creed”. As far as I can tell, “Airborne Creed” is a completely different story, just set in the same universe as the first “Saints and Sinners”. Check out the first teaser trailer for it below. Like the 2003 movie, it looks like Little has once again gone the independent route, so keep that in...

Archipelago (15)
(Joanna Hogg, 2010, UK) Kate Fahy, Tom Hiddleston, Lydia Leonard. 115 mins
With her debut, Unrelated, Hogg proved herself to be just about the only film-maker out there seeking to depict Britain's middle classes in a way they wouldn't necessarily enjoy. This brave follow-up is even more uncomfortable and less narrative-driven, as a well-to-do family's get-together in the Scilly Isles turns into a slow, sparse drip of resentments, silences, joyless activities and blithe snobbery. It's uncomfortable in a good way.
Rango (PG)
(Gore Verbinski, 2011, Us) Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Ned Beatty. 107 mins
Fine visuals and surreal comedy help this hallucinogenic animated spaghetti western stand out – far out. Depp's identity-crisis chameleon is the stranger in a town that's already strange.
The Adjustment Bureau (12A)
(George Nolfi, 2011, Us) Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Terence Stamp. 106 mins
Ambitious, Inception-style conspiracy thriller, with Damon and Blunt lovers on the run from literal agents of fate when they deviate from The Plan.

Whoever dreamt up the beguiling concept of Age of the Dragons – Herman Melville’s classic novel Moby Dick by way of a medieval dragon-slaying adventure – certainly gets a few points for originality, but that’s also where the praise ends. It is otherwise a mostly mindless act of misguided reinvention, a melange of risible special effects, shoddy acting and direction that, without exaggeration, staggeringly manages to make Uwe Boll seem semi-skilled. Proof that no novel, no matter how accomplished, is free from a gawdy cinematic molestation, director Ryan Little has managed the incredible feat of pipping the likes of Season of the Witch and Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son to the post for 2011′s worst film thus far!
The core structure of the novel remains the same here; Captain Ahab (Danny Glover) has been attacked by a dragon, severely deforming him, and he is out for revenge.

Age Of The Dragons *
Stars: Danny Glover, Vinnie Jones, Corey Sevier, Kepa Kruse, Sofia Pernas | Written by Anne. K Black, McKay Daines | Directed by Ryan Little
Age Of The Dragons had the potential to be gloriously trashy. A reimagining of Moby Dick but with dragons instead of the titular white whale, and starring Danny Glover, this has got “Cult Classic” written all over it. Unfortunately, it’s just as bad as it sounds but not bad enough to be ironically enjoyable.
The story will be familiar to anyone that’s read or seen the source material. Whaler (or in this case Dragon Hunter) Ishmael (Corey Sevier) and his companion Queequeg (Kepa Kruse) board the ship Peaquod (this time a mobile fort on wheels) run by the enigmatic Captain Ahab (Danny Glover), a figure shrouded in legend after a white dragon killed his sister and left him disfigured. It’s called Age Of The Dragons, directed by Ryan Little, and is described as is a re-imagining of Herman Melville’s classic novel Moby Dick. But it’s definitely not your father’s Moby Dick!
The full synopsis for this action/fantasy/sci-fi/thriller, reads: “Set in a mythical realm where Captain Ahab and crew hunt dragons for the vitriol that powers their world, Ishmael, a charismatic harpooner joins their quest. Ahab’s adopted daughter Rachel, beautiful and tough, runs the hunting vessel. Ahab’s obsession is to seek revenge on a great “White Dragon” that slaughtered his family when he was young and left his body scarred and mauled, drives the crew deeper into the heart of darkness. In the White Dragon’s lair Ahab’s secrets are revealed and Rachel must choose between following him on his dark quest or escaping to a new life with Ishmael.

Ryan Little, director of Saints and Soldiers is back with his latest film Age of the Dragons. What’s so special about it? Well it’s essentially the tale of Moby Dick told with dragons instead of a big whale, and stars Danny Glover(!) as Captain Ahab.

The film is called Age of Dragons.
Here's the official synopsis for the film:

I first stumbled upon this trailer for Age of the Dragons on YouTube over a week ago but failed to write anything up about it because I noticed it was uploaded over two months ago and assumed we had already reported on it. That should give you an idea of just how under the radar this Moby Dick with dragons flick starring Danny Glover has been.
When we last reported on Age of the Dragons back in March, the title was Dragon Fire and next to nothing was known about it other than it being a $5 million take on Moby Dick shooting in Utah under the direction of Ryan Little (Forever Strong, House of Fears). Substituting a great white dragon for the infamous whale of Herman Melville's classic tale, a scarfaced Danny Glover stars as the obsessed Ahab, Vinnie Jones co-stars as Stubbs and call Corey Sevier (Decoys 2, House of Fears) Ishmael.

Remember that story last week about a project titled 2010: Moby Dick about the re-telling of the story with Captain Ahab and a high tech submarine? This is the complete opposite.
Instead of going high-tech, director Ryan Little and crew have reworked the classic story to hunt dragons rather than a whale. Age of the Dragons (originally known as Dragon Fire) is described as follows:
In a medieval realm where Captain Ahab and crew hunt dragons for the vitriol that powers their world, Ishmael, a charismatic harpooner, joins their quest. He's killed a Predator, been murdered by Jigsaw, and spent considerable time being too old for this shit with Mel Gibson; now Danny Glover is taking on the Captain Ahab role and hunting a great white dragon in Dragon Fire, a fantasy reworking of the classic tale of Moby Dick.
The $5 million Herman Melville-inspired dragon flick shooting on location in Utah is being directed by Ryan Little (Forever Strong, House of Fears). As if dragons weren't ferocious enough, Vinnie Jones co-stars as Stubbs. Call Corey Sevier (Decoys 2, House of Fears) Ishmael. A possible limited theatrical release could be in the works for the fall.
Not much else about Dragon Fire out there at this time. In the meantime here's a YouTube video of a local Utah news station's set report complete with a look at crazy-eyed Glover and a rubbery dragon.

Danny Glover and Vinnie Jones have signed on to star in Ryan Little's new fantasy thriller Dragon Fire, which marks distribution team Metrodome's first stab at production a film themselves. This one has sort of snuck in under the radar, and little is known about the movie yet. It's apparently based on Moby Dick, so we're going to guess it's a tale of obsession and huge, dangerous creatures. Aside from Vinnie, that is...Little, who last made rugby drama Forever Strong, kicks off directing the new film this week in Utah. More on this on as we dig it up.

London -- A live action fantasy thriller starring Vinnie Jones and Danny Glover directed by Ryan Little named "Dragon Fire" will kickstart U.K. indie Metrodome Distribution's production arm ambitions.
The distributor is branching out into production with Cinedome and Little's project -- the first to light up the startup division.
Based on the classic story of "Moby Dick," the $5 million-budgeted movie is written by McKay Daines and begins shooting this week in Utah. It will be a joint production between Metrodome CEO Peter Urie and U.S. production and sales outfit Koan Productions.
Metrodome will distribute in the U.K. and Ireland and will hold an equity stake in the movie worldwide, in addition to co-producing the film.
Urie said: "This new production venture forms part of our growth plans in which we [at Metrodome] intend to build additional revenue streams for the company to enhance our successful U.K.

Here's something you probably didn't know: Over the past six years, 37-year-old director Ryan Little has helmed six feature films. He's made a musical, a war movie, a Western, a horror film, and a romantic comedy; for his sixth film, he tackles an uplifting sports melodrama. In Forever Strong, Sean Faris plays the gifted but troubled son of hard-ass Arizona rugby coach Neal McDonough. When Faris gets busted for his second DUI, he's sent to a group home, where he meets Sean Astin, who speaks wistfully about inspiring, innovative rugby coach Gary Cole, a man who cares more about life lessons than wins. Reluctantly, Faris gets on board, and thrives under Cole's tutelage to such a degree that he eventually leads his new team to face his father's team in the state championship. Forever Strong isn't terrible, and Little has some talent as a director. Though the story is...
