'Project Runway All Stars' winner: 'I really wanted to win for the fans'

23 March 2012 11:27 AM, PDT | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

Spoiler Alert! Click below only if you want to hear from the winner of the All Stars season of Project Runway.

It’s safe to say most viewers were rooting for Mondo Guerra to win the All Stars season of Project Runway. His loss to Gretchen Jones in the season 8 finale easily caused the biggest outcry in the series’ history, and he was back for redemption. Even though it wasn’t an easy road to victory, Mondo pulled through by consistently creating edgy, beautiful looks that stuck to his aesthetic yet surprised us week after week. For that, he was »

Nora Zelevansky: 'Project Runway All Stars' Recap: And The Winner Is ...

22 March 2012 10:54 PM, PDT | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Episode 12, the finale, of Lifetime's "Project Runway All Stars."

Ladies and gentleman, this is the moment you've all been waiting for: It's the season finale of "Project Runway All Stars"!

Who will win? Who will lose? Who will wear the weirdest outfit to the big day?

We open on Mondo (which has become a habit), who ominously says, "Today is Judgement Day." That's otherwise known as the show's final fashion show. (Look out for my interview with the winner later today!)

Anyway, the boys are getting ready (though I use the term "boys" loosely, as Austin is literally rocking rollers). He says, "I'm like nervous. I'm gonna throw up." But then, cut to his talking head and he gets excited: "I'm a rock star. This is my chance to ... deliver my message about who Austin Scarlett is." A man in lipstick! »

Project Runway All-Stars Season Finale Recap: And the Winner Is… [Updated]

22 March 2012 8:09 PM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

I’m pretty certain there was heated disagreement among the five judges. (Was it possible Isaac Mizrahi was kicking Tommy Hilfiger’s shins just below camera range?) And honestly, any of the three remaining finalists could’ve/should’ve won — depending on what parameters were being considered. But whatever the case, we’ve finally got a winner in the long, not-as-fun-as-it-sounded-on-paper season of Project Runway All-Stars (alternate title, Project Runway: Lifetime Tries to Redeem Its Key Reality Franchise After the Horrors of Season 8).

Not surprisingly, after the runway had been stomped, the hemlines had been assessed, and host Angela Lindvall »

'Project Runway: All Stars' crowns first winner

22 March 2012 7:19 PM, PDT | digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news »

Mondo Guerra has been crowned the winner of Project Runway: All Star's first season. The 33-year-old Denver, Colorado native beat out fellow designers Austin Scarlett and Michael Costello to take home the grand prize during Thursday night's finale.

> 'Project Runway: All Stars' recap: Finale - part 2 Neiman Marcus fashion director Ken Downing and designer Tommy Hilfiger had joined Angela Lindvall, Georgina Chapman and Isaac Mizrahi on the judging panel as the finalists showed their six piece mini-collections at New York City's Gotham Hall. Guerra's collection, entitled 'Therapy', was inspired by the high levels of "insanity" he felt during the All Stars process and his subsequent channeling of his troubles into the clothing. Project Runway All-Stars Recap: Rushin' Dresses

16 March 2012 10:29 AM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Mondo whipped himself into an epically foul mood on Part 1 of the Project Runway All-Stars season finale, and I can kinda understand why. Whereas Project Runway Regular Edition gives its finalists more than a month — and a sweet budget — to concoct their full collections, host Angela Lindvall delivered the bad news that Mondo, Michael, and Austin would only have four days and a $3,000 budget to come up with five looks (plus an extra garment patched together using discarded fabric scraps from previous weeks’ challenges).

The rush-rush nature of the season’s final challenge only served to highlight the overarching feeling »

Nora Zelevansky: 'Project Runway All Stars' Recap: Mondo Vs. Austin In The Finale, Part 1

15 March 2012 11:23 PM, PDT | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Episode 11 of Lifetime's "Project Runway All Stars."

Turning on the TV to watch this week's episode, I was a little afraid of what I'd find. Home visits with the remaining designers, but no Tim Gunn? Whoever heard of such a thing?

No one apparently, because the structure has changed.

The first news we receive is that Austin shaved his mustache. Mondo says, "He used to look like Errol Flynn. Now he looks like Kermit The Frog." In case you thought that was a compliment because they all drooled over Miss Piggy earlier in the season, think again. The comment was meant to be nasty and it's only the beginning.

Georgina Chapman and Isaac MIzrahi join Angela Lindvall on the runway to announce that, while designers usually spend months or at least weeks on "Project Runway" designing a collection, the final »

See the Exclusive Poster for the Crazy SXSW Comedy Small Apartments

9 March 2012 12:00 PM, PST | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Among the films premiering at South by Southwest this Saturday, none can boast a cast as fever-dream eclectic as the wild comedy Small Apartments. Directed by in-demand music video helmer Jonas Akerlund, it stars Brit comedian Matt Lucas as a Los Angeles man who kills his landlord (Peter Stormare) and comes into contact with the following people while trying to cover up his crime: his insane brother, played by James Marsden, who sends him toenail clippings and audio tapes narrated by Dolph Lundgren, as well as a fire investigator played by Billy Crystal, a pothead portrayed by Johnny Knoxville, a sexy mother-daughter duo played by Saffron Burrows and Juno Temple, and other assorted personalities who include Rosie Perez, Rebel Wilson, James Caan, Amanda Plummer, and Project Runway All-Stars hostess Angela Lindvall. Project Runway All-Stars Final 4 Recap: Manufacturer's Hangover

9 March 2012 9:27 AM, PST | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

This week’s Project Runway All-Stars (or, as I like to call it, Project Runway Seeks Redemption from the Travesty of Mondo’s Loss to Gretchen in Season 8) presented the Final 4 with an intriguing challenge: Create a ready-to-wear garment to be sold in Nanette Lepore shops nationwide — and do it with the parameters of a realistic manufacturing budget. Lepore’s “coster” — cool job title, no? — assessed the designers’ sketches, came up with retail price points and manufacturing costs, and then told each designer what he or she could spend on fabric.

Poor Mondo, who usuaully whips up “hearts and stars »

Nora Zelevansky: 'Project Runway All Stars' Recap: The Season's Most Important Challenge (Again?)

9 March 2012 7:02 AM, PST | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Episode 10 of Lifetime's "Project Runway All Stars."

And then there were four.

This week's episode of "Project Runway All Stars" features the final challenge before the finale and Kenley, Mondo, Austin and Michael seem edgier than usual, which is kind of saying a lot for this neurotic bunch.

"There's Team M & M and Team K.A.," says Mondo, as we're shown footage of Michael and Mondo and then Austin and Kenley coupled off (so to speak).

Angela Lindvall tells the designers what they'd have to be comatose not to know: "You're all now be battling it out for a place in the finale, where one of you will win the grand prize." Then she adds something about how Neiman Marcus is "the finest luxury retailer in the United States." Totally her own words, I'm sure. "Oh no you di'int," exclaim Barneys and Saks fans everywhere. »

'Project Runway: All Stars' episode 8 recap: O! Say, Can You Sew?

25 February 2012 3:56 PM, PST | digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news »

Project Runway took the All Stars to the Un in the latest episode to set the next challenge - to make dresses based on flags from countries around the world. Each designer is told by Angela Lindvall to pick a flag - they will then use its colour and the country's culture to influence their designs. Mondo gets to pick the first flag as he won last week's challenge and chooses Jamaica. Michael picks the Greek flag as he is Greek, while Mila opts for Papua New Guinea. Jerell chooses India, Austin goes for the Seychelles and Kenley is left with Chile. When Joanna Coles visits the designers in the work room, she admits that she is frustrated that most of the dresses couldn't be worn with a bra and warns Jerell that he could be taking the idea of saris too literally in his Indian-inspired dress, saying it looks »

'Project Runway: All Stars' episode 7 recap: Puttin' On The Glitz

17 February 2012 7:35 AM, PST | digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news »

Project Runway meets Broadway in the latest episode of All Stars when award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz challenges the designers to create an outfit for the actress Uzo Aduba in the Broadway musical Godspell. It's a separates challenge because the outfit will appear in a sequence where a group of actors piece it together bit by bit on the Uzo. Their brief is the character likes to show off how rich she is - but because the outfit comprises of various different pieces it can be colorful and unique. The key, apparently, is "ostentatious". As a prize, the winner will have their design actually featured in Godspell and a bio that features in the playbill. Nora Zelevansky: 'Project Runway All Stars' Recap: Big Enough For Broadway!

16 February 2012 8:53 PM, PST | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Episode 7 of Lifetime's "Project Runway All Stars."

There are only seven designers left on "Project Runway All Stars" and the pressure is building ... or at least they keep telling us that.

This week's episode begins with Jerell's deep thoughts about Rami's elimination the week before (or for him probably the night before): "The fact that he's gone is a bit of a game changer," says Jerell, who quickly recovers. "Can't be mad at that because eventually they all have to go, so I can get my check." Always with the sass, that guy.

The designers meet their lovely host Angela Lindvall at Circle in the Square theater, which Austin describes as representing "the pulse of New York in Times Square." Sure. If you think the city's biggest tourist trap is its heart and soul then Time Square is definitely it. »

Project Runway Rami: They Didn't Want Me There

16 February 2012 3:52 PM, PST | TheInsider.com | See recent The Insider news »

TheInsider.com chatted with Project Runway: All-Stars' Rami Kashou after his too-soon departure from the Lifetime show. In the exclusive interview, Rami dishes on his design philosophy, being a sex symbol, his shocking exit and whether or not he is single!

The Insider: Your being sent home was quite a shock. How do you feel about going home?

Rami: Well it’s going back to my career, so I feel blessed. Honestly, so many amazing things [that] happened in the past two weeks and before that have truly validated my work, which created a really nice balance. Naturally, it didn’t feel good that day, but I felt that it was something that was beyond my designs and beyond my power to control, and I just surrendered to it, and accepted it. I think the most important thing in a moment like that honestly is confidence and pride in my work. I stand by »

Rami Kashou Talks Elimination, Dating and... More "Project Runway?"

13 February 2012 9:01 AM, PST | AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news »

Rami Kashou

When the current roster of designers for Project Runway: All Stars was announced, one of the clear favorites was Rami Kashou. Kashou, who nearly won Season 4 of Project Runway (Christian Siriano took the prize that year), has always been a fan fave not only for his good looks but also for his even-tempered approach to the often-stressful competition and his skilled and stunningly beautiful creations. Case in point, while some of the other designers during the All Stars season have been caught up in drama (Michael Costello and Jerell Scott in their copy-cat drama in last week’s episode, for example), Kashou kept his head down and produced design after design that had him winning the first week’s competition and repeatedly earning high scores.

AfterElton.com spoke with the charming Kashou before last week’s episode aired thinking he would stick around through at least the finals, »

Project Runway All-Stars Recap: Seasonal Subjective Disorder

10 February 2012 7:36 AM, PST | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

I’m going to come out and say it: Project Runway (regular and All-Stars) needs to send the Fashion Faceoff to the same dumpster that’s currently housing acid-washed denim, the 8-ball jacket, and anything ever worn by Randy Jackson on American Idol.

I understand that, on paper at least, when you’re down to eight designers, it’s got to be tempting to split them into four head-to-head matchups — sending the winners to safety, putting the four losers up for elimination, and pumping up the drama. But that kind of drama always ends up feeling contrived, and what’s more, »

Nora Zelevansky: 'Project Runway All Stars' Recap: Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall

9 February 2012 10:13 PM, PST | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Episode 6 of Lifetime's "Project Runway All Stars."

Sometimes you can just feel the drama coming. You know what I mean? Like snow, you can almost smell it inching nearer. And this season of "Project Runway All Stars" has been relatively sedate, so I say: Bring. It. On.

This week's episode begins with the designers seated companionably around a table at their hotel suite: "When I first got here I thought Kenley was obnoxious and annoying," confesses Mondo. "But I love to push her buttons."

Could it be? Should it be? Dare we imagine this is ... foreshadowing?

On the runway, Angela Lindvall is holding eight "getaway" bags, one for each designer. "Quite the bag lady," quips Jerell, who is fast becoming my favorite talking head.

Michael wishes her next line was, "Pack your bags! We're going to Paris." No such luck. »

'Project Runway: All Stars' recap: Clothes Off Your Back - pictures

3 February 2012 8:17 AM, PST | digitalspy | See recent digitalspy news »

Project Runway: All Stars' fifth episode opens with a rather tricky challenge - the designers will have to find a muse on the busy streets of New York and convince said muse to give them the clothes off their back. The designers only have a limited budget and have to ensure whatever clothes they manage to sweet-talk themselves into will make up at least 50% of their final design. It's a difficult ask for all the designers but in the end they all head to Mood with various pieces of public clothing in their grasp. Anthony even gets one guy to strip to his briefs in the middle of the park! Austin helpfully steps in to cover the man's modesty with his hat - and tells us he even managed to get his phone number! Angela Lindvall, Georgina Chapman and Isaac Mizrahi are joined by Sean Avery for this week's panel, »

Nora Zelevansky: 'Project Runway All Stars' Recap: A 'Muse' Bouche

2 February 2012 11:20 PM, PST | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Episode 5 of Lifetime's "Project Runway All Stars."

This week's "Project Runway All Stars" opens with one of my favorite reality show conceits: The host pretends that she planned the challenge!

"Welcome to Central Park," says Angela Lindvall. "I thought it would be nice for you to get out of the house, get some fresh air and sunshine." And by that she means, "The producers made us come out to this stupid, hot park in the middle of summer. Is anyone else sweating profusely?"

The designers must each approach total strangers, isolate a muse and also, (in what they keep calling an "'All Stars' Twist!") collect clothing off the backs of anyone who will give it up. They have a $150 budget, which they can use to buy said clothing and/or fabric at Mood, but -- either way -- »

Nora Zelevansky: 'Project Runway All Stars' Recap: The Fatest, Most Tasteful Challenge Ever

28 January 2012 10:28 AM, PST | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Episode 4 of Lifetime's "Project Runway All Stars."

Faced with a "wagon wheel coffee table" in "When Harry Met Sally," Carrie Fisher's character Marie famously quips, "Everybody thinks they have good taste and a sense of humor, but they couldn't possibly all have good taste."

Truer words were never spoken, at least when it comes to this week's episode of "Project Runway All Stars." The challenge is supposedly "all about taste" on many levels, but everyone seem most concerned with the pun.

Angela Lindvall announces that the designers are to "create a tasteful outfit inspired by the colors and flavors of a seriously tasty dessert: gelato!" Really? It seems to me that there are more inspiring sweets, but what the heck?

On the runway, they feature a cart bearing the brand "L'Arte del Gelato" and ask the designers to pick flavors. »

Nora Zelevansky: 'Project Runway All Stars' Recap: This Little Piggy Went To Mood

19 January 2012 9:57 PM, PST | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

Note: Do not read on if you have not seen Episode 3 of Lifetime's "Project Runway All Stars."

In this body-conscious fashion world, there's not generally much room for pigs. But that all changed on this week's trough-breaking episode of "Project Runway All Stars."

As the 11 remaining designers gaze up from their folding chairs beside the runway, host Angela Lindvall explains that they'll be creating "flamboyant cocktail dresses" for "one of the most famous fashionistas in the world." (I wish someone would just erase that "f" word from the world's vocabulary.)

Who could it be? Well, Miss Piggy, of course. And apparently, she's had powerhouses like Burberry and Prada custom design for her in the past. Big hooves to fill.

Austin exclaims, "Miss Piggy!" April is thrilled. Kenley's nieces are gonna flip. But I'm confused: The diva Muppet is supposedly looking for a dress in which to promote her new movie »
