Rumor has it, a sequel for "Mr and Mrs Smith" is in the works as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are said hoping to reprise their titular roles. National Enquirer reported the pair is keen on playing on the sequel in order to save their troubled relationship. "They're hoping lightning will strike twice and they can re-spark the magnetism that captivated them five years ago," said a close family friend.
Jolie and Pitt reportedly have been trying to work out their plan by asking the screenwriter of "Mr and Mrs Smith", Simon Kinberg, to write a script for the sequel. "The romantic action film was penned by screenwriter Simon Kinberg. He's become close friend of the couple, and Brad's asked him to write the 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' sequel," the source gushed.
The insider additionally informed that there is a plan for the storyline which may include Jolie and Pitt's children.

The next instalment in the Bourne franchise is expected to start filming in 2010, it's been revealed.
Producer Frank Marshall said: "I am moving it forward. We'd like to shoot next year, but it's trying to get everyone's schedules in the right place and getting the script right."
According to Sci Fi Wire, he said: "We have done pretty well with these scripts that are loosely put together, but I would like the script to be really solid this time before we go forward, so we are spending a lot of time on story."
Previous films The Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) have together grossed $946million (£635million) worldwide.
They were based on Robert Ludlum's novels about rogue CIA assassin Jason Bourne, played by Matt Damon.
Universal last year said they wanted a further instalment, which would be a totally new story as there is no fourth novel to base it upon.

Sean Penn has pulled out of two films, including "The Three Stooges," citing personal reasons.
The actor who's been having marital dramas with Robin Wright Penn is taking an undetermined sabbatical affecting yet-to-be-filmed movies that he's already attached to.
One of those films is Universal's "Cartel" about a man who vows to protect his son after his wife is murdered by Mexican cartels. Peter Craig wrote the script, and Asger Leth is set to direct. Hhhmmmm, can I suggest Liam Neeson to the role? This fits him perfectly!
But the one I'm really bummed about is the MGM comedy "The Three Stooges" from the Farrelly Brothers. Penn was set to co-star as Larry alongside Jim Carrey as Curly and Benicio Del Toro as Moe. Perfect casting right? It would have been a dream cast!

Variety reports that Sean Penn announced he will pull out of two projects for unspecified personal reasons related to family.
Penn will no longer star in Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly's The Three Stooges, in which he was to play Larry opposite Jim Carrey as Curly and Benicio Del Toro as Moe. He also withdrew from Cartel. In the Asger Leth-directed drama, scripted by Peter Craig, a man struggles to protect his son after his wife is killed in the world of Mexican drug cartels.
It is unclear how long Penn will be on hiatus. Prior to the announcement, he had already completed two other projects, which should still see release. The first is Fair Game, the Doug Liman-directed biopic based on the memoir of CIA agent Valerie Plame (with Naomi Watts in the starring role). The other is The Tree of Life, which stars Brad Pitt

"Milk" actor Sean Penn has pulled out of his two forthcoming movie projects, "Cartel" and "The Three Stooges". The 48-year-old star cited personal reasons as the causes for his exit, Universal Pictures and MGM have announced.
With Penn leaving "Cartel", Universal Pictures are now scheduled to recast his role. Additionally, the studio have put together a list of potential actors to replace Penn and hope to find the right actor in early date in the fall.
As for "Three Stooges", it's still unclear whether MGM will recast a new actor to play Larry, to which Penn supposedly attached, or wait for him to return to work. Penn originally was set to star alongside Jim Carrey who has been picked up to play Curly and Benicio Del Toro who is tapped to portray Moe in the movie from directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly.
In the meantime, Sean Penn has finished the

I see this latest news out of The Hollywood Reporter as further evidence the proposed Farrelly brothers filmed adaptation of The Three Stooges should be squashed altogether, but Borys Kit wonders if the production will now wait for Sean Penn to return from a one year leave of absence from Hollywood or push through without him. Yup, that's the word folks, Penn is taking a leave from his Hollywood career to focus on his family and will not be starring alongside Benicio del Toro and Jim Carrey in The Three Stooges and has also backed out of the Universal crime thriller Cartel. Penn has already informed both productions and now it is up to them which direction they will go. The Three Stooges was eying a late August start and will have to stick to that or risk losing both del Toro and Carrey. As for the Asger Leth directed Cartel,

Two-time Oscar-winning actor-writer-director Sean Penn has dropped out of MGM's Three Stooges film, which the Farrelly brothers are directing, as well as Universal and Imagine's crime thriller Cartel. According to the trades, Penn is taking a leave from his Hollywood career to focus on his family. Penn has already informed the productions he will not be available. It's unclear how long the absence could last, though sources have said up to a year. In Stooges, Penn was set to play Larry with Jim Carrey cast as Curly and Benicio del Toro as Moe. Now MGM and the Farrellys, who also wrote the script, need to decide whether they will wait for Penn or seek to find a new actor. Time and availability are the issues: Stooges was eyeing a late August start date, and MGM has slotted it for a 2010 release. If the studio does wait, it could risk losing Carrey and del Toro.

Swingers (1996) Directed by Doug Liman It really isn't hard to see why this film has acquired a cult following. The atmosphere is laid back, the dialogue is some of the best in any 90's comedy, the characters are appealing and well-drawn, the casting is perfect, the soundtrack is great, and the situations are honest and real. Memorable quotes: You know what you are? You're like a big bear with claws and with fangs... ...big fucking teeth, man. Yeah... big fuckin' teeth on ya'. And she's just like this little bunny, who's just kinda cowering in the corner. Shivering. Yeah, man just kinda... you know, you got these claws and you're staring at these claws and your thinking to yourself, and with these claws you're thinking, "How am I supposed to kill this bunny, how am I supposed to kill this bunny?" And you're poking at it, you're poking at it.

An international trailer for the upcoming "Terror Train" horror film has been released. It features some new footage and you can check it out by clicking on the link below. The story takes place in Europe, where a group of American college athletes unknowingly board a train that will become one deadly ride. The original 80s slasher film starred Jamie Lee Curtis. Gideon Raff is both writing and directing the new film. I don't recognize any of his previous work, but he was Doug Liman's assistant on "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." Click here to read more about "Train."

May Flowers, evenings at 11... or thereabouts
Playing against type is an ancient Oscar-winning trick but it only works if you do it really well (or if enough people are hoodwinked into believing you've done it really well). A lot of people, including myself and Academy voters, rethought Sean Penn last fall due to his twinkly and affable work in Milk. The famously sour Penn was suddenly funny, likeable, warm... sweet even.
Sean Penn in 1996. Sweet smiling Sean was always in their somewhere.
In other words, not "Sean Penn".
How on earth will he follow Harvey Milk up?
He himself probably isn't feeling the pressure, "Great Actor" status having been granted long long ago, but I was curious. Would he return to directing, to more typically Penn parts? Turns out the 48 year-old actor is booked until he's 50. At least. He's got five new identities lined up for our cinematic enjoyment over the next two years.

Earlier today we wrote about the news that Israeli actress Liraz Charhi had been added to the cast of Fair Game, the Doug Liman-directed movie about outed CIA operative Valerie Plame. And the casting news just keeps coming-- we've been told that Noah Emmerich has also joined the cast, and will star in the film alongside Naomi Watts and Sean Penn. The press release doesn't say who the Little Children and Pride and Glory actor will be playing, or whether he'll join the shoot in the Middle East or keep filming back home. In the film Watts will be playing Plame, the CIA agent whose secret identity was revealed as an effort of the Bush White House to get back at her husband, Joseph Wilson (Penn), who had been critical of the administration's efforts to start war in Iraq.

• Dustin Hoffman has joined Paul Giamatti in Richard J. Lewis' indie drama "Barney's Version," based on the novel by Mordecai Richler. The film focuses on a character who's been through three marriages, has had two children, and may have been somehow involved in the disappearance of one of his buddies. Doug Liman's Fair Game, the story of CIA operative Valerie Plame and the massive fallout that occurred when a member of the Bush administration revealed her identity, has been underway filming in New York for a while now. But now that the production has moved over to the Middle East, a new cast member is jumping on board. Liraz Charhi, an Israeli actress, will play Sawsan, the Iraqi doctor who was living in Cleveland when Plame asked her to go undercover in Baghdad. THR doesn't specify exactly where they're filming in the Middle East, but we can be pretty safe in assuming it's not Baghdad. You probably wouldn't recognize Charhi from anything-- most of her credits come from Israeli television and one hit Israeli film. But hey, for your fourth acting role, acting alongside Naomi Watts (as Plame) and Sean Penn (as husband Joe Wilson) ain't bad!

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Israeli actress Liraz Charhi was recently cast in director Doug Liman's Fair Game.
The film is about former real life CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson. Plame's status as an operative was severely compromised when the Bush administration leaked her identity. Apparently this happened because of an editorial that Plame's husband wrote saying that the administration doctored intelligence on Iraq to make a case for war.
Naomi Watts will be playing Plame and Sean Penn plays her husband, ambassador Joseph Wilson.
Charhi is set to play the role of Sawsan. She is an Iraqi doctor living in Cleveland who Plame sends to Baghdad to help gather intelligence on Saddam Hussein's nuclear program. The catch is that Plame has to bring Sawsan's brother to the U.S.
The film is currently shooting in New York and the Middle East. It is based on

Sean Penn is in talks to star in This Must Be The Place, a new film from Italian director Paolo Sorrentino (Il Divo). The story sees Penn play a wealthy, retired rock star - which shouldn't be too much of a stretch for the Oscar favourite. In the film, Penn's character becomes bored of his rock retirement and goes on a quest to find his father's executioner, an ex-Nazi war criminal who's hiding out in the Us, apparently having lied on the immigration form where it asks visitors to the country if they were ever a member of the Nazi party between 1939 and 1945.Sorrentino wrote the script, which will be his English-language debut, along with Umberto Contarello. The plan is to start shooting once Penn has completed his other upcoming projects: the Farrelly Brothers' The Three Stooges, Asger Leth's Cartel and Doug Liman's Valerie Plame drama Fair Game,

Sean Penn is in talks to star in This Must Be the Place, a film that will mark the English-language feature debut of Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino, say the trades. The script was co-written by Sorrentino and Umberto Contarello. The deal is still being finalized, but Penn would play a wealthy rock star who becomes bored in his retirement and takes on the quest of finding his father’s executioner, an ex-Nazi war criminal who is a refugee in the U.S. Penn and Sorrentino have made the commitment to work together on the project, pending the completion of his previous film commitments that include The Three Stooges, the MGM comedy to be directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly and star Penn, Jim Carrey and Benicio Del Toro; Universal/Imagine drama Cartel, to be helmed by Asger Leth; and Fair Game, the Doug Liman-directed drama about outed CIA agent Valerie Plame.
