It’s been a real busy year for comedic actor Mike Epps. First, he just wrapped production on the film Lottery Ticket (also starring Ice Cube, Brandon T. Jackson and Bow Wow), plus he starred in The Janky Promoters (another film starring Ice Cube, and Little Jj). He also hosted the 3rd Annual Bet Hip Hop Awards, and he launched several music videos for his hip hop venture titled Funny Bidness.
But that’s not all; The biggest news for Epps the past couple of months has been the heat of his stand-up comedy DVD titled Mike Epps: Under Rated & Never Faded which was filmed in Detroit. We just discovered that the Showtime network has stated that the special has posted some serious numbers, more than they have seen in a while.
But the news does not stop there; we also just discovered that on the heels of those »

Drawing on the Smoking Gun ’s collection of concert riders, Sam Greenspan of 11points.com offers a list of the 11 craziest demands made by rappers: Dmx: Three boxes of condoms and a gallon of Hennessy—that’s anywhere from $300 to $800 worth of cognac. Public Enemy: Kosher food—odd, because “Public Enemy is famously associated with anti-Semitism”—and a bucket of KFC. Jay-z: Must be picked up in a black Maybach 57 or 62, which is sort of like “He-Man demanding to be picked up by a giant, talking, green tiger.” Bow Wow: Goes out of his way to... »

Behind the Beats: Soulja Boy Tell'em
Soulja Boy Tell'em has jumped from behind the knobs into the forefront as a performer — he just released three mixtapes on Halloween: Cortez, Paranormal Activity and DatPiff. But don't forget, the young G still knows how to make beats. One of Soulja's biggest fans, Kanye West, recently had the Southern millionaire in the lab working for him.
"Me as a producer, I think I've grown tremendously," Soulja told us recently in L.A. "I've been in the studio with Kanye. I did three tracks for him back-to-back."
Soulja says the sessions were give and take.
"Me working with him, collaborating different beats," he explained. "Him showing me a lot of stuff I didn't know. Me showing him a lot of stuff he didn't know. »

Series creator Alan Ball recently told the Advocate magazine that he could imagine Eric's toughass sidekick, Pam, getting in on some girl-on-girl action. And now Kristin Bauer, who plays Pam, tells us she's up for it… "I wouldn't be surprised," Bauer said at last night's Bow Wow Beverly Hills benefit for the Amanda Foundation animal rescue. Y'all gather round. Turns out Kim and NeNe ran into each other at Lil Bow Wow's Mom's clothing store. French tips wagged, spittle flew. NeNe still could not believe she was denied her rightful chorus on "Tardy for the Party," which has since been propelled all the way up to #3 on the iTunes dance chart. The conversation over who was the biggest bitch escalated to the point where NeNe allegedly choked Kim and shoved her wig up against a wall. The Bravo production team still cannot believe they weren't on hand for the heavyweight championship that NeNe swears was »

Atlanta — Ice Cube and Mike Epps have reunited for their fifth film together, "Lottery Ticket," which comes out next year. As Epps told us during the Bet Hip-Hop Awards taping, he and the rap icon are actually supporting another star rapper in the movie: Bow Wow.
"Bow Wow and Brandon T. Jackson [are the stars]," Epps said. "Me and Cube are actually almost doing cameos in this movie. It's for Lil' Bow Wow and them. But we all help each other out in this business."
Earlier this year, Epps and Cube shot the movie "Janky Promoters," which also stars Young Jeezy. The movie, which centers on two shifty music promoters, has yet to be released while Cube and company have been negotiating the comedy's distribution. Meanwhile, Epps is releasing the comedy/rap »

Loso's Way brings multifaceted Mc to a new career peak.
By Shaheem Reid

The 2009 Hottest MCs in the Game rollout is on! As in 2007 and 2008, the list, determined by the MTV News Hip-Hop Brain Trust, is based on an Mc's achievements right now, rather than an entire career. The criteria is based on a combination of rhyme skill, flow and how those things are implemented musically as the main factors. The Brain Trust also considers buzz, impact, commercial success — sales, airplay, business ventures, Web presence, endorsements and helping to spawn other artists' careers — and the intangible, impact: Can an artist not only contribute to the rap game but influence cultural shifts? Are they trendsetters? All of these factors — and the results of our audience poll, which closed last week and gets a vote at the Roundtable during the Brain Trust's debate — contribute to deciding »

released an official statement on Friday (August 21) regarding his parting of ways with Lil Wayne's Young Money label earlier this week. The statement reiterates the singer's Twitter post on Wednesday, dispelling rumors that he'd been dropped.
"I have a lot of respect and admiration for the genius of Lil Wayne and the entire Young Money family," he said. "I asked to be released from the label to pursue other opportunities that were recently presented to me. Because of our relationship, Lil Wayne had no issue with us ending our business relationship and released me from the label. Lil Wayne and I have nothing but love for each other, there is no beef. I also wanted to make it clear that my company nor did I, leak the song, 'I Get It In, »

Omarion's stint on Lil Wayne's Young Money Records was almost as short as a Usain Bolt 100-meter dash.
Last week, Lil Wayne introduced the fan-favorite performer during a California stop of Young Money Presents: The America's Most Wanted Music Festival. Wayne said Omarion was on his burgeoning label — which also includes Drake, Nicki Minaj and Tyga — and the singer seemed excited to be down with the crew. He even moonwalked to Michael Jackson music onstage.
On Wednesday, a record called "I Get It In" featuring Wayne and O hit the Net, and the machine seemed to be rolling smoothly. The euphoria hit the breaks abruptly, however. Later that night, Wayne's trusted crew member Mack Maine hit Twitter and wrote that O was off the label and »

Despite the runaway success of "Best I Ever Had," with its sweeping proclamations of devotion to the fairer sex, Drake doesn't really consider himself a ladies' man.
In fact, the Toronto Mc shot down claims that his favorite topic of discussion is women.
"I think there's two types of rapping about women," he explained to MTV News. "There's rapping about fairy-tale stuff ... not to take away anything from an Mc like this, but you take a rapper like Bow Wow, who is a genuine ladies' man and all his songs are to make ladies love him and love themselves. And that's cool. That's a brand of music that might not always be what's real, you may not always be telling the truth, »
