While Beauty and the Beast is shaping up to be one of the first box office blockbusters of 2017, with Disney even setting up immersive opening night events in hundreds of theaters across the country, some may question the need to remake a movie as beloved and timeless as the original 1991 animated classic. Disney has released a new preview, where even director Bill Condon admits that the original movie is perfect, although he does make a pretty good case of why this "tale as old as time" should be told again for a new generation. We also hear from stars Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, who recount their personal history with the original film.
This preview, which debuted on the Disney YouTube, features director Bill Condon revealing that he wanted to remake Beauty and the Beast to tell this story in a "live-action, fully photo-real version," and to re-distinguish Belle as a 21st Century heroine. »
Michael Pena stars in the movie, from Good Universe and Mandeville Films, as a man trying to save his family from an alien invasion. Ben Young will direct. Young’s debut feature, “Hounds of Love,” premiered at last year’s Venice Days and took home the best actress prize for Ashleigh Cummings.
Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman of Mandeville will produce. Mandeville’s Alexander Young will executive produce, alongside Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake of Good Universe. Anna Halberg will serve as co-producer.

Julia Roberts fans will need to wait a few more months to see the “Pretty Woman” star back on the big screen. “Wonder,” an upcoming drama about a boy with facial differences that features Roberts as his fiercely supportive mother, will hit theaters just in time for Thanksgiving. Lionsgate, the studio behind the film, has moved its debut from April 7, 2017, to Nov. 17, 2017, Variety has learned.
The decision was made after “Wonder” had a strong reaction from test screening audiences, particularly those with families. Lionsgate believes the new date will be more commercially viable. In its former perch, “Wonder” would have faced off against “Going in Style,” a comedy with Alan Arkin and Morgan Freeman; “The Case for Christ,” a faith-based drama; and “Smurfs: The Lost Village,” which features a vocal turn by Roberts as Smurfwillow. Now, “Wonder” will debut on the same weekend as “Justice League, »

One of this year's biggest movies is just one month away, with Disney's Beauty and the Beast hitting theaters on March 17. Before this blockbuster-to-be arrives though, a hilarious mashup video has surfaced. It's essentially the Beauty and the Beast trailer featuring Emma Watson as Belle, with the iconic beast, played by Dan Stevens, nowhere to be found. Taking the Beast's place, through some inventive editing, is none other than Ralph Fiennes' Lord Voldemort from the Harry Potter franchise. This hilarious recut portrays this odd couple as a match made in heaven, and it actually meshes with the real trailer quite nicely.
The video comes courtesy of YouTube channel Pistol Shrimps, which carefully drops Voldemort in place of The Beast, and the result is perfect. Before Emma Watson signed on to play the iconic Belle, she spent a decade playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies, actually fighting Voldemort »

Featuring the cast of Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, and Luke Evans as Gaston, the studio has now released the final full-length trailer, but be warned (for a movie you’ve already seen countless times), it looks to include many scenes from throughout the entire film.
“I didn’t know they were going to make Beauty and the Beast at the time I turned down Cinderella, but when they offered me Belle, I just felt the character resonated with me so much more than Cinderella did,” Watson tells Total Film. “That’s the kind of woman I would want to embody as a role model, given the choice. There’s this kind of outsider quality that Belle had, and the fact she had this »
