Amy Heckerling continues to pick up actors to appear in her new fanged fiend comedy, Vamps. Malcolm McDowell, Marilu Henner and Zak Orth have all signed on.The plot, for those just joining us, follows two beautiful young female vampires (Alicia Silverstone and She’s out of My League’s Krysten Ritter), who are content to enjoy the nightlife of New York and the single bachelors of the city as their suck toys. But then trouble rears its head as they fall in love, and must decide whether to follow their hearts (is that possible when they don’t technically beat?) and risk the wrath of their senior vamp, played by Sigourney Weaver. The likes of Richard Lewis, Wallace Shawn, Justin Kirk and Kristen Johnston are also on board.Henner has agreed to play a deathly ill woman who reclaims her former hotness, while Orth will be Renfield, a nerdy »

And the cast of Amy Heckerling's horror comedy Vamps just keeps on growing. We usually hate humor with our terror and would rather see vamps tearing throats out instead of mugging for the camera, but this one seems to be moving along just fine.

Marilu Henner ("Taxi", "Evening Shade"), Zak Orth (The Other Guys, Wet Hot American Summer), and Malcolm McDowell (pictured right; Clockwork Orange, Halloween) will be joining the previously announced Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter, Sigourney Weaver, Richard Lewis, Kristen Johnston, Wallace Shawn, Justin Kirk, Dan Stevens, and Todd Barry for a little toothy mayhem. In a stroke of obscure genius, McDowell will play Vlad the Impaler, aka Dracula!

Three more actors have joined Amy Heckerling’s (Fast Times at Ridgemont High) vampire-romantic-comedy Vamps.  Already featuring the likes of Alicia Silverstone, Sigourney Weaver, Krysten Ritter (She’s Out of My League), Wallace Shawn, and Justin Kirk (TV’s Weeds), the film tells the story of “two young beautiful female vampires (Silverstone & Ritter) living the good nightlife in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardize her immortality.”  The story of my life

Now joining the film will be Marilu Henner (the 70s TV series Taxi), Zak Orth (The Other Guys), and Malcolm McDowell.  Henner will play Angela, a terminally ill woman who is “awakened” to her former attractive self; Orth as Renfield, a young/nerdy friend of Silverstone & Ritter’s; and McDowell will portray a knitting-friendly, velvet jogging-suit wearing Vlad the Impaler (amazingly that’s exactly how my high-school history »

Wallace Shawn Joins Silverstone in Vamps

3 August 2010 | Horror Asylum | See recent Horror Asylum news »

Director Amy Heckerling has had a quite decade really. But we hope she's going to be back on form with her upcoming comedy romance 'Vamps'. The tale of two female vampires in modern-day New York City who are faced with daunting romantic possibilities. And playing the pair of blood-sucking ladies? None other than Alicia Silverstone (below) and Krysten Ritter. And it appears that Silverstone will be joined by her 'Clueless' co-star Wallace Shawn who has just been cast as Dr. Van Helsing. Many of you may recognise his voice as he plays Rex in the 'Toy Story' trilogy. but many of you will recognise Shawn from his varied roles in such cult flicks as 'The Princess Bride' and Richard Kelly's 'Southland Tales'. Silverstone, Ritter and Shawn will be joined by Sigourney Weaver, Richard Lewis, Justin Kirk and Brit actor Dan Stevens. »
