Ken Jeong’s ‘Dr. Ken’ Manages to Reboot ‘Community’ and Heal Dan Harmon’s Rift with Sony at the Same Time

Ken Jeong’s ‘Dr. Ken’ Manages to Reboot ‘Community’ and Heal Dan Harmon’s Rift with Sony at the Same Time
Ken Park, a doctor pursuing a career in comedy, has been offered a great opportunity: A starring role in Dan Harmon’s new comedy about a group of misfits at a community college.

Park is a bit of a goofball, so ultimately Harmon writes the part of Señor Chang, an eccentric Spanish teacher, for the comedian. Sound familiar?

The Season 2 finale of Ken Jeong’s ABC sitcom “Dr. Ken” rips a page out of real life, sort of. “Community” creator Dan Harmon guest stars as, you guessed it, Dan Harmon (playing a particularly surly version of himself). Also appearing:

Alison Brie – who played Annie on the show, opposite Jeong’s Chang – and a few other familiar faces from the show, including recurring actors Erik Charles Nielsen (Garrett), Danielle Kaplowitz (Vicki), Richard Erdman (Leonard), and Luke Youngblood (Magnitude – pop pop!).

“The word ‘surreal’ was pervasive,” Jeong said of having Harmon on set.

First Full-Length Trailer for Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here

To say that I’m excited for Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here would be a huge understatement. I’ve been following this one literally from day one, when Braff launched the project on Kickstarter, and have been looking forward to it ever since.

Braff brought us a brilliant first teaser trailer last month, and took to The Today Show with Mandy Patinkin this morning to debut this first theatrical trailer.

Wish I Was Here tells the story of Aidan Bloom, a struggling actor, husband and dad who at 35 is still trying to find his true place in life. He and his wife are barely getting by financially, and Aidan passes his time fantasizing about being the futuristic Space Knight he always dreamed he’d be as a little kid.

When his ailing father can no longer afford to pay for private school for his two kids, and with

First Teaser Trailer for Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here

The road to Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here has been a lot of fun to follow, with the writer-director successfully launching the project on Kickstarter back in April last year.

Braff took the dramatic comedy to bow at Sundance at the start of the year, just as he did with Garden State ten years earlier. Until today, all we’d seen from the film so far was a handful of images and the first teaser poster from the festival. But now Braff has revealed to his Kickstarter backers, of which I am proudly one, the first teaser trailer to start sharing online.

Wish I Was Here tells the story of Aidan Bloom, a struggling actor, husband and dad who at 35 is still trying to find his true place in life. He and his wife are barely getting by financially, and Aidan passes his time fantasizing about being the

Complete Buffy reviews: Beauty and the Beasts

“All men are beasts”. Yikes. What happened on the day that Marti Noxon wrote Beauty And The Beasts? Did the milkman deliver a bottle of curdled milk? Did the postman deliver a parcel 30 days late? Did the paper boy turn out to be a shaggy werewolf all along?

It's a bold, and some might say, glib generalisation to open a story with. Personally speaking, as a man, I'd like to categorically state that I'm not a beast. Not literally or metaphorically or any other word ending in ally. Faith's claim comes seconds after talking about down low tickles, which kind of muddies the moral waters a tad. If Phases looked at the behaviour of men in a balanced fashion, then Beauty And The Beasts certainly gets off to a bumpy start.

The murder mystery provides the backdrop to some serious issues. Some sort of animal is running amok in Sunnydale and reducing innocents to purée.

Sundance: Focus Features Acquires Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here

  • HeyUGuys
Debuting to a standing ovation at Sundance over the weekend, Zach Braff’s sophomore feature Wish I Was Here has now been acquired for North American distribution by the brilliant Focus Features.

It didn’t take long at all, which we can naturally take as a very good sign, alongside the reception it’s had out in Park City.

Ahead of its debut, Braff recently teased the first Sundance poster for the film, along with the first-look images last month, and with Focus now acquiring it for release across the Atlantic, we can look forward to seeing more from the film in the coming months.

First Sundance Teaser Poster for Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here

  • HeyUGuys
Zach Braff’s labour of love, Wish I Was Here, is just days away from making its way to Park City for its world premiere, as intended, at Sundance.

Braff launched the project on Kickstarter last year, raising more than enough for the campaign to be funded, and he’s been treating his backers and fans to bits and pieces here and there along the way.

Last month, we got our first look at Braff and his co-stars from the film. And with Sundance just around the corner, the writer-director has shared the film’s first poster, which he notes is just for Sundance, not yet knowing what the final theatrical poster will look like.

Wish I Was Here” tells the story of Aidan Bloom, a struggling actor, husband and dad who at 35 is still trying to find his true place in life. He and his wife are barely getting by financially,

Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here to Debut at Sundance 2014 & First-Look Images

  • HeyUGuys
Earlier in the month, Zach Braff sent out a message to his Kickstarter supporters with a not-so-cryptic hint that his anticipated sophomore feature, Wish I Was Here, would be debuting as planned at Sundance 2014.

He asked us to keep it quiet, because the news hadn’t gone public yet, and it took every ounce of reserve I had to keep the secret.

But the announcement has officially arrived today, and with it Braff has released the first official images from the film, giving us a great look at his on-screen family.

Scrubs’ Rowdy makes a Secret Cameo in Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here

  • HeyUGuys
Zach Braff is almost half-way through his five-week shoot on his long-awaited sophomore feature, Wish I Was Here, and he’s taken to the web once more to reveal that another fan-favourite character from Scrubs will be making an appearance in the film.

Following the first week of shoot, Braff revealed that Phill Lewis (a.k.a. Hooch) had made a cameo in the movie. And now he’s revealed that none other than J.D. and Turk’s beloved stuffed dog, Rowdy, will make an appearance as well, bringing him out of retirement for the cameo.

In the production video update, Braff says that it’s up to us eagle-eyed viewers to spot where he is.

“I hid him in the background of one shot only, so you Scrubs fans are going to have to look for him. It’s like Where’s Waldo?, but Where’s Rowdy?”

Braff has assembled a stellar cast,

'Felicity's' Scott Speedman sails to 'The Last Resort' at ABC

Former "Felicity" star Scott Speedman is set for his first TV role since The WB series ended in 2002. He'll star opposite Andre Braugher in ABC's drama pilot "The Last Resort."

The show, created by Karl Gajdusek ("Dead Like Me") and Shawn Ryan ("The Shield," "The Chicago Code"), follows the crew of a nuclear sub that goes rogue after disregarding a suspicious-sounding order. The crew docks on a small island, takes over a Nato outpost and declares itself an independent nation (with nuclear capabilities).

Speedman will play the sub's executive officer, Deadline reports. The show has also cast Camille de Pazzis as a scientist at the Nato station (Braugher is playing the captain of the sub). Speedman has concentrated on movies since "Felicity" ended, appearing in the first two "Underworld" movies and "The Strangers"; he currently co-stars in "The Vow."

Other pilot casting news, as reported by Deadline:

Raising Hope 1.12 "Romeo and Romeo" Review

After almost 2 months, Raising Hope is finally back. I can honestly say that the past months have been less funny without new episodes and it’s great to finally have the Chance family back on the air. And needless to say, this week’s return proved to be one of the strongest episodes to date.

The one thing I love about Raising Hope is its use of one central story. This week centered on Jimmy’s (Lucas Neff) trial and error in making new friends. The storyline was entertaining the whole way through. Starting with Maw Maw (Cloris Leachman) fixing the car, Hope never left me without a smile. The writers seem to always think of new and clever ways for any single member of the Chance family to shine in comedy at any given moment in the episode.

Speaking of the writing, I really have to give notice to the writers of Raising Hope.
