Stephen Chbosky's highly anticipated film adaptation of his novel "Perks of Being a Wallflower" has had a long road to the screen. Shot last summer, the movie stars Logan Lerman and Emma Watson in the lead roles, with fan favorites Mae Whitman, Ezra Miller, Paul Rudd, Nina Dobrev, and Kate Walsh as the supporting cast.
Now, it's finally got a release date: Fans of the iconic novel can see it all play out on the big screen on Sept. 14, 2012. Written and directed by Chbosky himself, the film is sure to be a faithful adaptation.
Chbosky had to go to bat for the movie when it was originally slapped with a crippling R rating from the MPAA. After an appeal, the organization agreed to reduce the rating to a PG-13. They cite "mature thematic material, drug and alcohol use, sexual content including references, and a fight - all involving teens" for the rating. »

After being shot lost year, our curiosity about a release date for Stephen Chbowsky‘s The Perks of Being a Wallflower has now been answered. Summit Entertainment has revealed a September 14th, 2012 limited release for the film, which hints strongly towards a Tiff Festival bow. Also, according to Watson’s twitter, the trailer will drop at the pre-party for the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, June 3rd. Watson, Lerman and Miller will be on hand to present and we’ll have an embed as soon as it hits the web.
Based off of Chbowsky’s original novel, The Perks of Being a Wallflower tells the story of Charlie (Logan Lerman), an introverted freshman who is taken under the wing of a beautiful girl named Sam (Emma Watson) and her gay stepbrother, Patrick (Ezra Miller). Stephen Chbosky's controversial coming-of-age novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower has been a must-read for teens since its debut in 1999. Set in the early '90s, the book unfolds the tragedy-strewn story of Charlie, an introverted high school freshman who channels his thoughts, hopes and fears into letters to an anonymous friend. Told entirely in this epistolary style, Perks gave a unique insight into its gawky teen protagonist's inner thoughts. So when word arose that Summit Entertainment was spearheading a movie adaptation, some fans feared the tender tale would suffer in translation to screen. However, Summit brought the book's author in to pen the screenplay and direct, which quieted concerns about a faithful interpretation considerably. Then came casting news that boasted such heralded talent as Melanie Lynskey, Ezra Miller, Paul Rudd, Mae Whitman, Logan Lerman and Emma Watson, and even the most cynical Perks lovers began to feel »

Some of our favorite stars are joining the already impressive line-up to appear at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on June 3.
For starters, Wiz Khalifa will take the mic to perform his brand new single "Work Hard, Play Hard" at this year's big event.
Along with the Wiz, a slew of awesome presenters have been announced. Emma Watson tweeted yesterday that she'll be joining her "Perks of Being a Wallflower" co-stars Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller onstage. (She also promised the premiere of the movie's newest trailer during MTV's pre-show).
That trio will be joined by another, decidedly funnier, trio. "That's My Boy" stars Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg and Leighton Meester will also be dishing out Golden Popcorns.
Khalifa and that fab six are in excellent company with previously announced presenters like Kristen Stewart and new daddy Chris Hemsworth, "Amazing Spider-Man" onscreen (and off-screen!) lovers Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, and »

Tobey Maguire is totally onboard with Andrew Garfield playing Peter Parker in "The Amazing Spider-Man."
"I was certainly curious as to who was going to play Peter Parker," Maguire told Garfield during a conversation between the actors published in VMan Magazine. "When I heard it was you, I was literally like, 'F--king perfect!'"
Maguire should know: he played Parker in three films between 2000 and 2007, with total grosses tallying just under $2.5 billion worldwide.
Garfield was cast as the lead in "Amazing Spider-Man" back on July 1, 2010, after a lengthy audition process that included such young Hollywood stars as Logan Lerman, Josh Hutcherson and Jamie Bell. While chatting with Maguire, Garfield addressed what he called "a weird kind of cattle call."
I'm friends with a few of the guys who were up for it, and I actually had dinner with Jamie [Bell] the night of my screen test and his screen test. We compared notes and war stories, »
