Anchor Bay Entertainment and The Weinstein Company announced the Blu-ray and DVD release of the family film Escape from Planet Earth. This fantastic, comedy- adventure crosses all galaxies to entertain the entire family with an all-star vocal cast including Jessica Alba, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Alba, William Shatner, George Lopez, Craig Robinson, Sof&#237a Vergara, Jane Lynch, Steve Zahn, Chris Parnell, Brendan Fraser, Rob Corddry and Ricky Gervais.

In Escape from Planet Earth, Planet Baab's most celebrated space traveler, Scorch Supernova (voiced by Brendan Fraser), is a global hero whose interplanetary exploits are televised for the enjoyment of his ardent fans. Weinstein Co. Settles $50 Million 'Escape from Planet Earth' Lawsuit

The Weinstein Company has resolved a high-profile lawsuit that was particularly nasty. The lawsuit came from writer-director Tony Leech and film producer Brian Inerfeld who alleged that their work on the animation film Escape From Planet Earth was botched. The plaintiffs brought the lawsuit on the eve of the of the 2011 Oscars, alleging $50 million in damages from "two out-of-control movie executives... who sabotaged what should have been a highly profitable movie through a potent combination of hubris, incompetence, profligate spending, and contempt for contractual obligations."

What's more, Leech and Inerfeld cast Harvey and Bob Weinstein in the complaint filed in New York Supreme Court as "a real life version of Bialystock & Bloom" and accused the pair of paying them $500,000 in "hush money"

The Weinstein Company returns to the world of animation next month to bring us Escape from Planet Earth, the animated adventure-comedy that should be fun for all the family.

We caught the first trailer back in November last year, and with its Valentine’s Day release fast approaching, the studio have released the first two TV spots.

Escape From Planet Earth, a CG-animated comedy, will be in theaters on February 14, 2013.
